I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Well they could have just done the news segments in Black & White. But colour would have worked all the same too because it's not like film back in the day was in colour anyways, so when the show was airing it could have worked to have it in B&W and the rest in colour when they are not.

I saw it recently and it was actually pretty good. The Black and White concept seemed a bit un-neccessary, but it does fit in with the times anyways.

Canada: This Union Can't Be Saved
Matt replied to Ravenous Yam's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
That's really not why there are a couple big countries in North America at all. The U.S. of course united thirteen states so they could fight the British. And then after that, along the way came "Manifest Destiny" and stuff like that which kind have set the precendant for the Americans taking over what they could in North America because in those days they belived one day all North America would be theirs. After the Civil War in the U.S. the British became worried about the U.S. invading Canada, I seem to remember them supporting the wrong side in the war too, and they didn't have the resources at the time to ward off the Americans, so it was their belief the colonies united would be able to stop the Americans in their tracks if they tried to invade the North. There were some talks in the Atlantic Colonies already about merging, but the British managed to get the other ones invited to the conference they were about to hold as well. It ended up being successful, so along the way Canada came about to protect the colonies from becoming American. -
Bill Graham is only an interim leader, so he can't run to become the leader, also it is likely the leadership campaign will happen in late 2006 or early 2007...

Seriously, though, give me an objective reason why Crash is the best picture of 2005. You can't. Because more critcs found Crash to be better than the other movies. People have personal choices, which makes something better, and there's nothing wrong with people being awarded for doing something a lot of people liked.

He's just quoting Matthew Good, and really Matthew Good isn't all that right on this.

I'm glad Crash won three, but, I think Dillion should have won Best Supporting Actor, and Haggis should have won best director over Ang Lee. However, the song from Crash should have won because the Dolly Parton song was meh, and I wasn't too impressed with the rap song either. Where as the Crash tune was pretty good even though it's not really my style either. However, beyond that I think it was pretty good, and I too was glad the Brokeback failed because even though I didn't see it, I suspect it wouldn't have won for anything other than it's subject matter not because the story was any good or anything.

It was a pretty good awards show last night, and I'm glad "Crash" got three awards from it too.

Northey Valenzuela
Matt replied to Matt's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Yes, it's one of my favourites on the album. But I really enjoy this whole album, and it's great they added two new songs to the mix. -
Not really the politicians only have so much time before they get cut off.

What are you listening to?

Anyone else like them? For those who don't know who or what Northey Valenzuela is, it's Craig Northey (ex-Odds), and Jesse Valenzuela (ex-The Gin Blossoms). Their song "Not A Lot Goin' On" is also the theme song for Corner Gas. Their song "Something Good" also can be heard on Craig Northey's myspace site, http://www.myspace.com/craignorthey . I've also written a review of their album on my website, www.thetfi.tk for all those interested.

Me too... I haven't seen it since awhile ago though.

I'm sure the 1918 Oslo Winter Olympics had much higher standards. The Winter Olympics haven't been interesting since that catty little snob got clubbed. There were no 1918 Winter Olympics... The first winter Olympic sport wasn't played in the Olympics till 1920 at the summer games no less, then four years later in 1924 the first Winter Olympics took place. my family's legacy...a lie? http://www.olympic.org/uk/games/index_uk.asp

Limblifter (superthread)
Matt replied to Poprocks's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Me too, and I think it might be interesting to see how this works out because I think Meegee is the best player they've had by far, so him coming into the mix might round Limblifter out really well. -

So, as some of you may have heard David Paterson has quit music altogether, and Burrento has been off helping others a lot lately, so here's apparently what Ryan Dahle has mentioned in the comments section of one of the blog posts on the Meegee Blog and on the myspace website. The line up will of course have Ryan Dahle, Megan Bradfield is also returning this time, and Kurt Dahle has returned for now, whether or not Kurt Dahle is a full time member or not, I have no clue. -
So, as I am sure many of you already know, Canada's Women's team won today!

Well the Red Army meant they could withhold their players from the NHL, which meant that they could have plenty of more time to train together...
