Anyways though, I think that the Artic is ares, yes it has been in dispute forever, but quite a bit of the land up north we bought as "Rupert's Land" from the Hudson's Bay Co. way back when even. We settled the West to stop things just like this. And we've been pushed around on this too many times.

The current make up of the house is basically the same with one key party switch. As it stands the Grits and Bloc have 154, the Tories and NDP have 154, it all comes down to the 1 independant from the sound of it.

Our current system works, so many bills would be delayed for so much longer otherwise, there's no need for a change. Elections are costly things, so why waste money on by-elections like that...

This is not really a reason to go to proportional representation at all EcNarf, as much as I do not want to see the Conservatives in power, it's still not a reason to change systems, because our current one works pretty well in any event.

She's an alright actress, however, Paul Giamatti was probably the best actor in the movie though. Anyone else find it amusing though that the guy that plays Da Vinci on Da Vinci's Inquest/Da Vinci's City Hall was in the movie though? It was just kind have random...

I think he's an alright actor when there's a good story in place, like "Gladiator", and "The Insider", but if the story is not as good, he's usually not as good either. Anyways though, I think the story was good in this one too. And I think Ron Howard does a good job of showing how desperate Braddock is, which is simply enough because it's the depression, but Howard makes sure to show well that Braddock is no exception and how as bad as it is, he doesn't steal, or take what he won't try to payback later. Plus I think the trying to keep his family together is an interesting element to the story too.

I saw this one awhile back and I thought it was pretty good too.

Anyone else seen it? I quite enjoyed this movie actually...

Canada was made a dominion in 1867, which is when it became a country. However, we still had a great many more ties to Britain then, than we do now...

if our current system works fine how is it that billions of dollars were pilfered from our pockets in the whole adscam thing? if the public had a voice in more of the goings-on up there in ottawa, wouldn't politicians be able to get away with less? That was hidden from most of the Liberal party though, this was a select few that were in on it even, where as many other Liberals were kept out of the loop. Every party has it's bad eggs too. The N.D.P. has Svend Robinson who stole a ring that costed about $65 000. The Conservatives had Zeissman, who smuggled in an expensive car and lots of wine, not too long ago. It pretty much can happen on anyone's watch is the point. As to the senate, why not have one last say before a bill is passed, it's just a chance to go over a bill once more just in case anything was missed in the House of Commons, but it doesn't need to be elected because they are more editors or proofreaders.

Well we can and should only have one leader though, so it's kind have difficult to mash up all three.

The senate can deny bills, but so what, usually most things pass anyways, so it's not really a big deal. However, it still doesn't need to be elected.

It is fair though, the politicians are supposed to represent people by how many of them support it, and no that doesn't mean we should bring in proportional representation, our current system works fine.

Actually if Canada would like to remain progressive, we would pretty much have to keep our current system. Also I like to vote, but I know a lot of people who don't, and don't want to have to vote any more than they already do. However, in the nineties the republicans refused to pass some stuff because the democrats did something the republicans didn't like. Also, the Australian system is a forced system, it's not real democracy when everyone has to vote now is it?

Stephen Harper has said he would hold elections for ridings with senators that are leaving... However, the Senate in Australia is just bad, they have proportional representation which just does not work. All we really need to elect is the house because they have to pass something to have it become law anyways. People also don't like to vote too much here as is, so having more voting makes even less sense. Also beyond that say, for arguments sake, we have a Liberal majority house, and a Conservative majority senate or vice versa, it would be pretty difficult to accomplish anything if they disagree enough on a lot of the issues especially the social ones.
