  1. ahaha i love it. thousands of dropouts riding the roads on motorcycles. awesome. Anyways, why exactly are they doing this? Is there a large crisis in the # of kids who dropout of school? I think i remember reading a report about that awhile back.
  2. Sort of a Protest Song (least fav) Apparitions Weapon Tripoli (Rooms) Fated (fav)
  3. i don't see it that way. I just see it that if you're 18 you are a bit more informed on politics, a bit more mature, and have a bit more life experience. I mean, you have to make an age limit somewhere. 18 you are mostly legally considered an adult (seems in everything but drinking) so i think its a good place to draw the line.
  4. Totally true. Lots of voters 18 and older are uninformed or just plain dumb. However, lowering the age to 16 would make the % of uninformed/dumb voters rise. (sorry if i sound blunt) P.S. Lauren, thats a very good point. I think as you get older and older along your life (get a job, own a house, have kids, get older and need healthcare) the more political issues personally affect your life. Thats likely why most young voters vote Green and NDP since things like social freedoms and the environment are issues that most young people care about, compared to other issues that is (taxes, healthcare etc.).
  5. ecnarf, u are the expection to most young people not yet able to vote. You are very informed and involved in whats happening in politics, but the vast majority of 16 year olds are not. I'm 25, and follow politics faily closely as the average voting adults would i guess. But when i was 16 i really didn't know shit. When i first voted when i was 18, my criteria was "does the country seem pretty good right now?" (a pretty vague question) so i said "yes" and voted the Liberals back in even though i didn't know shit about anything. Most 16 years would vote either how their parents voted (yes, parents totally brainwash their kids politically until they start to know better ie: college), or would just make a totally uninformed decisions because most teens don't read newspapers (beyond Sports and Arts section), or watch the evening news etc. I remember talking to my friends during 2000 Federal election and they didn't know shit. I said Chretien was a big crook and they didn't know either way. I said Canada was one of the highest taxed countries in the world and they had no idea. my point: I want ecnarf to vote, but i don't want 90% of his classmates within 50 feet of a ballot box.
  6. i like the white much better than my virtually identical black sleeve it came with.
  7. Who will you vote for this coming election?
  8. Fated (tough!!) Suburbia (easy!) Avalanche Apparitions While We Were Hunting Rabbits (my pick to win it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
  9. this kicks ass. thanks for the link.
  10. In Canada, the CBC has a definate left-wing bias and it is also run and funded by the Canadian Government so obviously there is a bias there. I'm not a big fan of the idea of having Canada's biggest TV news corp. owned/run by the gov't. Talk about 1984. CanWest/Global and the National Post and affiliated newspapers i find lean more conservative than the others in Canada. CTV i find doesn't have a large bias either way, but i don't pay close enough attention.

  12. that makes me angry. Jean Chretien is pretty much on my "top 10 most hated people in the world" list. I dislike him more than Bush probably. If i ever saw him in person i'd spit on him, or at the very least flip him the bird and lace him with profanity.
  13. Nintendo will be using DVD's i'm pretty certain. Yes Xbox 360 is screwed, because game developers are already complaining that they are filling up the DVD disk (though they could just make multiple disks like PS1 did, but its still a black-eye for the 360). Also, Blu-Ray discs can hold 25gb of data, about 3 times as much as a DVD. And dual-layer Blu-rays store up to 50gb. BTW HD-DVD's are 15gb and 30gb dual-layer.
  14. People are dying in Africa from hunger and genocide. That doesn't really affect you, so should we just let it continue?
  15. My opinion is that its about time. Though the Liberal will get in again with a minority, and then hopefully the Cons will get rid of Harper so i can have a decent party option to vote for. And everyone keeps saying "Christmas election" but its not like we're going to be voting on Boxing Day. The voting will very likely be held in mid-January.
  16. Nintendo is cool, but they're mostly a niche product now. They're geared more towards family/kids and Nintendo diehards (like Drizzt). Nothing wroth with that, they've been very successful doing what they're doing now. Personally i think the DS and PSP both kinda suck. As for the new Revolution console and the controller....i think its looks awesome. At least its something different and with the potential to be totally awesome! The Gamecube wasn't different in any way, it was just the same type of console as the others but with much less games and no online.
  17. u should knock on wood.
  18. well thats the whole problem, isn't it? Both sides of the discussion have strong opinions and its a very touchy issue. My opinion is just 1 opinion of course. I don't think 1 person (aka Prime Minister or a judge) should be able to decide this issue one way or the other. Maybe something this controversial should go to a referendum for all Canadians (or whichever country u live in) to vote.
  19. i can only guarantee one of the two, so choose wisely. ;) lol. ok i'll bring the coco.
  20. i live in Ottawa. I'm over 19. I will only come if gay sex & hot coco is guaranteed.
  21. correct. This show was on CBC a year or 2 ago at like 5:30pm after school. It was geered towards a teen audience judging by the timeslot & shows airing around it. However, yeah it got pretty raunchy. I am SOOOOOOOOOO happy that the show is back on!!! I saw it on Showcase last week and thought they were reruns so i didn't watch, then i watched a show this week and realized they were new. I'm so happy! The show is so friggin' funny. Kenny is hilarious. what an a-hole lol. Now they can finally go as bad-ass and fucked-up as they want, which i'm sure Kenny likes (as he likes to swear a lot)
  22. here's how i feel. Abortions are ok if the mother's health is in danger. I'm also not against abortions for rape victims. However, i feel that if you have sex & you become pregnant, its not moral to have an abortion. Therefore i'm pro-life in most instances. Why? Because if you choose to have sex you should take responsibility for your actions. If you are too stupid to not use birth control and a condom etc., then you should take responsibility. If you used proper birth control but still got pregnant, then that is still the risk of having sex. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET PREGNANT, DON'T HAVE SEX. Abortions are the easy way out. I think its a bit selfish to kill an unborn baby just because said woman doesn't want to be uncomfortable for 9 months, or she fears her parents, or the thoughts of her peers. Just take responsibility, and if you don't want to keep the child then give it up for adoption. There are many people wanting babies for adoption, and a lot of Canadians have to go overseas to places like China to adopt a baby. I know its a very very hard decision for women when they get abortions, but i'm sure they don't feel nearly as bad as the fetus/embyro/whatever that never gets to live.
