  1. its very easy to confuse them: Dave Matthews Band Matthew Good Band ...both have the words "Matthew" and "Band" in the title. very similar. and annoying
  2. damn, i thought the book MG wrote (ALTISNTS)and had in stores was just the collection of Manifestos. I thought there was only one book. I had no idea he had 2 books and one of the them was an original work like ALTISNTS. Cool!
  3. from that list... A Long Way Down, Bright End of Nowhere, and Vermillion
  4. ahh good ol' scalping. The music concert tradition continues...
  5. Converge, Afghanistan & the Taliban harboured terrorists. The Taliban was bad, and needed to be removed. Its not a question of 'revenge on the terrorists and the brown people'. 3000 or so people died on 9/11. Does that in itself justify us and other nations killing thousands of Afghans etc.? No. However, if you let terrorists and such governments like this remain, then someday it may be a nuclear bomb exploding in NYC or London or Toronto, killing hundreds of thousands. Is that worth trying to prevent? Fuck yeah. Unfortunately we haven't discovered a better way to remove threats like the Taliban other than miltary force. And unfortunately, innocent people will die like in all war. Whether the U.S. and other nations can improve the way their military fuctions and make it safer so less innocents are killed is totally another subject. But IMO the war in Afghanistan is just. It will make us safer, and overall in the long run it will make the people in Afghanistan (especially the women) safer & better way of living.
  6. Big front page article on Canada in Afghanistan the other day. It says we have a few thousand troops fighting in Afghanistan, but we have refused to send 4 troops (yes, 4 TROOPS) as peace-keepers to the Congo to help out there with the U.N. This has changed my tune a bit with what we're doing in Afghanistan. About a thounsand people die everyday in the Congo due to disease, malnurishment, or other preventable causes (not to mention violence). Canada should be sending Peacekeeping troops there, as well as having an active role in Afghanistan. I would think 1000 people dying everyday is just as important if not more so than securing Afghanistan from terrorists & the Taliban. But its hard, because Canada has so few military forces & equipment. Jesus Christ this world is a fucked up place.
  7. Yeah its not a peacekeeping mission. I was amazed when i heard the number of Canadian peacekeepers who have been killed since Peacekeeping began in the 50's. Just over 100 Canadians have died while peacekeeping since the 50's, which i think is an amazingly low number.
  8. Yes, i should say "re-commitment" then. I didn't mean that the trip going over there was having balls. But wanting the troops to stay over there to finish their job & showing lots of support for this position even though war isn't a popular thing in Canada & this war has been tough shows some balls.
  9. What do you think of Harper's commitment to Afghanistan, and his recent trip overseas to the area? I think its good. It may be getting tough over there, but when the going gets tough the tough don't become pussies and pull out at the first sign of trouble. Its war, and in war sometimes people get killed. Just reality. Somebody is going to do the dirty work over there and i don't see why Canada shouldn't have to do their small share. Why let all our allies be killed instead? As for his recent trip to Afghanistan, some people have called it a "Bush-style trip". I think it just shows him showing his support for the troops and the operation. Its refreshing to see a PM showing some leadership & vision and a sack of balls. I think a slight upgrade in our military forces will help us be more prepared for any domestic crisis that could occur, as well as give us more of a voice on the international scene. Its amazing how this has degraded over the years.
  10. Not an expert on the seal hunting. If its just for the pelts, they should stop it. If they eat the seals for food, let it continue if done in a humane & environmental way.
  11. just wondering. they are all gone & i found no explanation in his archives of why MG removed the comments feature.
  12. it was cool, spent the afternoon there. I recommend people to check it out at least once if you live in Ottawa or visit there. A ton of different tanks (incl. Sherman Tank) Lots of old war medals, including the Victoria Cross Every war uniform imaginable Tons of old guns: muskets, swords, bayonets from War of 1812 etc., grenades, German Luger from WWII

  18. yes nuclear plants are potential terrorist targets. c'mon thats common knowledge The White House wasn't hit on 9/11, does that make it not a terrorist target either?

  20. 1) Whoever said they are good at sports video games, try going playing on Xbox Live & you'll get your butt whooped more than likely. Playing against 1 guy doesn't prove a lot. I thought i was a good gamer and i get my butt handed to me online. 2) There's may not really be anything called "natural skill". I would rephrase it as "natural talent". 3) borntohula there is something called natural talent. I was always natually talented at running and jumping. I was always the fastest or one of the fastest kids in my grade from elementary through high school. I didn't learn that, it just so happened that when i ran my legs moved faster than other kids'. My friend in high school, who never played organized ball in his life, could throw a baseball farher than most kids i knew could hit a ball. Thats natural talent, 100% complete genetics. I would define a natural talent as something you are very good at that you don't have to work hard at. simple.
