  1. Those Sealand guys are the coolest dudes ever! Too bad they didn't use an old cruise ship lol, would seem more comfortable.
  2. wow babyskin thats pretty good (no pun). i've posted this a while ago, but here's a painting i did of MG when i was taking Fine Arts in university: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v148/moo..._graham/mg1.jpg looking at it now i think the top of the nose could be fixed up a bit, but i just drew whatever i saw in the picture i was using. maybe i was getting tired lol.
  3. i would have bought it off you for $20. U got screwed. p.s. whoever made this topic, yeah you probably need to clean the lens, i've heard other people having the same problem. If you still have problems i'd go to a videogame message-board like gamespot.com or 1up.com and get some help.
  4. i've always wondered if i could go build my own giant floating island and anchor it out in the middle of the ocean and claim it as mine. Would that be any different than living in a big boat?
  5. try google and find a possible limblifter fan-site like this. Maybe there's a limblifter hub?
  6. Yeah encarf i was going to mention the Jamaican gangs that heard were causing the most problems. I'm not an expert on the situation in Toronto. But i think my point of immigrants coming here and brining their old violent ways pertains to the Jamaicans. supercanuk - even we gave up a lot of the cattle business, i think the farmers would rather sell their land to developers than just let the governments grow crops on it for free. Of course the gov't could buy the land, but you'd still have to pay people to farm it. Too bad farmers couldn't grow something other than hay & grass on the cattle land, but of course if they did they'd want to be compensated. maybe the cheapest way to provide food to the poor is to just provide them food from the supermarket (the ol' foodstamps). The thing that kinda pisses me off about rich celebrities who are always preaching about poverty is that even though they do give money to charities etc., these people still keep most of their money & drive ridiculas cars etc. I'd like to how much of Bono's total wealth has gone to charitable causes.
  7. Josiegross, nice job. Yeah any map i remember has all those little arctic islands above the Northwest Territories etc. as our. Of course, many of those maps were probably made in Canada. But if we don't own it, who does? Certainly not the Americans. They just want to poke around up there for security reasons, which i don't blame them. If i were Canada i'd claim it still as ours, and tell the U.S. they could keep patrolling if they sent half their ships home, and then place some Canadian subs/boats up there for our own safety/sovereignty & keep an eye on those sneaky Canadians. different question: who owns Antarctica? always wondered that. Is that just an a big international iceberg?
  8. I looked through all of MG's songs, i think his best vocal performance is: While We Were Hunting Rabbits - (just so epic, MG really belts it unlike any other song) i also considered: Fated - (amazing chorus: "i long to be dead, sleep with the fishes under the sea...") Apparitions - (more subtle, but so much depth & emotion. His voice carries the whole song)
  9. i think putting Apparitions & Everything is Automatic on the U.S. album was probably a good business move since they'd have little chance to be singles in the US if they just released both BM & Underdogs. Having Apparitions as a single and a video in Canada was by far the best thing for MG's career popularity. It would have been hard for MG to properly promote an old album, especially when he was coming out with new stuff.
  10. that was a pretty good article. This stands out to me:
  11. haha Cherry Poppin' you musta read my post on mblog.
  12. supercanuk, encarf makes a good point about the "broken windows" theory. It certainly did seem to work in New York City, and Rudy Guliani did an amazing job cleaning up the crime in that town. Try googling it and see what you might find. Remember the old NYC sterotype in movies etc. that you'd get mugged on every street-corner? You rarely ever see that stereotype anymore, because its a safer city now. But i totally agree that good economies & fixing poverty levels is one of the best ways to reduce crime. You said that its very easy for Canada to end its poverty, how so? Any ways this has been done elsewhere, or any ideas of your own? But poverty of course isn't the only crime factor. In Toronto you have a lot of immigrants crammed into one city, and some of these immgrants have brought their old violent habits and cultural rivalries with them to Canada. This has caused a lot of the gang-violence in Toronto. I'd imagine its extremely hard and unlikely for some of these people to forget their old survival mechanisms and hatreds the moment they step on Canadian soil. I don't know why they keep sending most of the immigrants and refugees etc. to Toronto, they should really try to spread it out evenly across Canada more. But i guess once an immigrant settles in one city, their relatives & friends etc obviously want to come live in that city also when they move to Canada. I like a free-market society. Capitalism isn't perfect, but its the best system that has been devised so far. As long as there is a healthy social safety-net for those who lose their job or can't find one, plus people like single mothers & people with disabilities etc. i think capitalism can work. I believe that anyone who is willing to work hard should be able to earn a decent living, and those that for some reason cannot work as hard (disability etc.) should be taken care of.
  13. Its both for me. If the Liberals vanished off the face of the earth i still would have voted Tory. And i'll never apologize for passionately wanting the Liberal reign of terror to end. A lot of people are scared of Harper's right-wing views (i'm not scared, more like "worried"). But i think its much scarier to have a power-mongering, corrupt, wasteful government that constantly lies to us. I'm proud that Canadians have voted to make our government responsible for their actions. But i'm also concerned that Canadians still rewarded the Liberals' incompetency with over 100 seats. 50-60 seats ok, but 100+? I think that says a lot about both the NDP & Conservatives. And Harper is not stupid. Now George Bush, he's stupid. Harper's actually quite intelligent, but many of us youngins just disgree with him on some ethical/moral issues (abortion, gay marriage etc.) & some foreign policy. But its ok because I call Harper stupid all the time and need to correct myself. Bush is Harper minus 40 IQ points and 40% more hick. ;)
  14. first thing Jon Stewart said on tuesday night's Daily Show was about the results of the Canadian election. He only glanced over it though.
  15. Anyone see MG on CBC last night during the CBC election coverage. He was in this cafe filled with a ton of other Canadian celebrities who were all sitting a bunch of little tables. I saw he was sitting beside this woman they interviewed, then they interviewed Kenny from "Kenny vs Spenny". They then mentioned Matt and said he was blogging as the election unfolded and that they would get back to him later. I must have missed when they actually interviewed him, or maybe they didn't have time.
  16. i think its a great thing for national unity sake that the conservatives got in, and that Harper is the leader. This will please westerners, who have felt powerless & disenfranchised politically the last decade or so. They finally have a say in national affairs. And they finally can't be PO'd at Ontario for voting the Liberals back in again. Also, Harper is the 1st non-Quebec Prime Minister in 27 years.
  17. I think this is good. We get a fresh change of gov't, but Harper really has no power to put in place the crappy socially conservative things he'd like to do if he got a majority. The Liberals plus the NDP have enough seats together to stop anything the Conservatives put forward. He can put (the ban of) gay marriage to a free vote, but it will likely be shot down by all 3 major parties. In fact i doubt he'd even try because he'd know it would fail. I wish the NDP got more seats & the Liberals got less. Martin is gone as leader of Liberals, but he wasn't a horrible guy and they could do A LOT worse. Some dork like John Manley or weasel like Bill Graham as PM would just give me shivers.
  18. I voted Conservative. Its time for a change. The way i see it, just give them a chance. If Canadians don't like what they or Harper does, then give 'em the boot in the next election. If its a Conservative minority, Harper will be well in check & minority gov'ts only last an average of around 18 months anyways. Tonight should make for some interesting TV.
  19. conscience is the awareness of morals and ethics. empathy is the understanding of someone's feelings. if you hit me hard on the head, could i become "un-conscience"?
  20. Voted for Dancing Invisible. Its between that & The Ocean. both are beautiul songs. Would have liked to hear them recorded with better quality, LOTGA-style.
  21. lets just burn all our prisoners and we won't have to worry about it!
  22. star wars is cool.
