  1. Guitarman, I didn't realize the US dates were cancelled only a week or 2 before the shows. That is inexcusable. And I agree it was very likely done for sales/money reasons over political ones. Yeah if you take a political stance you should do it months out, not a week or 2 when hotels and trips are booked and days taken off work etc. Odd because it's not something I could have seen Matt doing 10 or 15 years ago. Between the new music being mixed quality at best the last several years and all sorts of nonsensical drama including this terrible marketing management and the fact that there's essentially zero online presence from him that isn't locked behind a paywall I've tapped out on the last couple of tours. I'll probably check out the new album out of curiosity and tradition. I hope everyone here is well and those going enjoy the coming tour and album.
  2. I love the fact that he's trying some new things on these tracks, like the electronic sounds. And I like the return of the LOES type jazz sounds. Song impressions: 1. Lost and Found Kids - Amazing. 2. Triage - Meh 3. Tiger By The Tale - I think you mean Back of the TIger? Meh, it's ok, sounds a little "standard". 4. Daylight Actual - I like this song a lot 5. Corridor of Trees - It's ok 6. Hollis - Sounds like Hollis lol. Too much of a straight copy IMO. I think Daylight Actual is better, more "inspired by" than a copy 7. Victory is Free - The opening riff and drums sound like a subconscious direct copy of "Feeling Good" by the Sheepdogs. Probably heard it on the radio somewhere. They couldn't release this, someone in the band would catch this i think. Rest of the song I like, they can just remove the opening riff.
  3. Good news. I hope he records more jazz type stuff.
  4. Probably not going to happen.
  5. It was just a bad, bad take by Matt. We know Canada isn't the DRC. But Canada has a government that announced DURING AN ELECTION CAMPAIGN that all federal public servants, meaning hundreds of thousands of Canadians across the country, were required to get vaxxed or else be put in indefinite leave without pay even if they still worked full-time from home and have never been to their office since the start of the pandemic. They recently dropped the requirement, but a lot of fed departments are still working from home full-time so a lot of people were coerced to jab a f**king needle in their arm and inject medicine for nothing or else lose their livelihood. These people have families and mortgages to pay for. And all Matt's faithful sheep followers yelling "Yeah!". I'm fully vaxxed, I believe in science, but nobody tells me what medical procedures I need to undergo or what medicine I inject inside my own body, so if I worked for the feds i'd be PO'd. Even if they worked in the office, nobody gets to coerce someone else to take medicine to make someone else safer. If you don't feel safe, stay home or quit. When your basic human rights and liberties are taken from you yeah that's tyranny. Yeah you don't block ER doors & border bridges to protest, but these kinds of smug entitled self-righteous comments can go right up their arses.
  6. Listen to the interview. Wow awesome insights into the behind the scenes of the band. A must-listen!
  7. Dave Genn has basically been MIA from the MGB fan community for 20 years. That's sad. We need Dave Genn.
  8. This is the only guitar solo live i've ever seen Matt perform (Near Fantastica):
  9. Should be an interesting trial run to say the least. Probably smart to limit shows, and stick to the not-as-feminist prairie cities east of BC.
  10. I don't understand the purpose of an artist creating vague lyrics nobody can possibly understand, unless 1. the subject matter is so private you legit don't want people to understand it, or 2. you want to seem more clever than you actually are. I'd rather share something with the artist than be a code-breaker. I personally don't listen to music to solve puzzles, but to feel emotions. But some may be different.
  11. Well if one party has been accused by quite a few members of the other parties in the business exchange of lying and manipulating them for sex, yes.
  12. I ain't paying for shit until I get an explanation of his side of things and some sign of change and working on the self.
  13. True fact: my dad thinks Bill Welychka is gay.
  14. Dark for sure. Most men are born out of the womb with the instincts to fight and kill, and then at puberty the urge to fuck everything in sight. Civilization has been dependent on resisting these urges, and we don't always win.
  15. That's quite the set list...speechless. I turned it on just to check it out, ended up watching the whole concert. This is the most legendary MG/MGB concert footage that's in existence. The quality of the video is simply breathtaking, and Travis seemingly framed every shot to perfection. A 17 year old kid first-timer doing this, what a legend. The audio is also incredible. Lots of low-end on the drums and bass, you can hear Geoff's notes well. The fact that this is such a special concert in Coquitlam just takes the cake. Thank you so much for posting this. You're doing some amazing work. We need to start archiving this stuff as fans, get it off our hard drives etc make sure we have it forever. A very special time in Canada's cultural history.
  16. I don't think he could really say anything even if he wanted to because of legal reasons.
  17. It's not just about the cheating though, there's all sorts of abuse allegations involved by her and fans. Given the state of the industry and the tastes of his fans and these events a lot of me wonders what genius we have missed from the jazz-rock albums Matt could have put out, follow-ups to LOES, Cold Water, Tiger by the Tail etc. There was a point where musically he was hitting the heights of Avalanche with that stuff, maybe surpassing it. And the amazing thing is the jazz stuff is completely the opposite in emotion to Avalanche. Something like Rabbits is just pure euphoria, whereas the jazz stuff is so mellow and gentle. I think he did the rock version of that with Moving Walls but it didn't quite hit the same, more of a run-of-the-mill singer-songwriter album.
  18. The woman managed to show up in one of his videos, then managed to record an entire album with him. When the album (and relationship) fell through she managed to make herself famous by dragging his name through the mud (deservedly so). Meanwhile she posts half-naked photos of herself bouncing her ass on a public social media account and now from what it sounds like sells pornographic pictures of herself. Oh and she drives a BMW. These are the actions of an attention seeker. Not saying the things she's said are untrue, but it's obvious that least part of her M.O. has been using Matt to get famous and further her career to hell or high water and it worked. As for new music, i'm sure once a proper amount of time has passed, maybe another 6 months or so, i think MG will probably come out of the woodwork and at some point at least post some demos or whatnot. I'm sure he'll tour again in some capacity.
  19. This is a rad project. I'm pretty sure my Windows XP gaming-savvy desktop circa 2001 still works in the basement. AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1ghz processor, Sound Blaster sound card, some kind of Radeon card, DVD-writer, Gravis gamepad, Logitech joystick, can't remember the amount of RAM but it was a ton at the time.
  20. The thing is, throughout my life pretty much everything and everyone I've cared about, besides my wonderful parents, has turned out to be a lie. I was taught to believe phony stories about Jesus and God, I believed in Santa Claus, the baseball heroes from my youth whose posters I had on my wall turned out to be steroid cheaters, the He-Man toys and stories i loved turned out to just be a way for a corporation to make cash from plastic and TV cartoon ads, and now Disney is pimping my beloved Star Wars like a whore, not to mention good friends who abandoned me all along the way. Now it turns out Matt Good was a lie, at least a lot of it. But how do I abandon the songs I took through my teens and 20's and beyond? If I abandon everything I ever loved I'm left with nothing. I can be disappointed with the artist but I can't give up the art, it's too much a part of me, and too painful. If I can't believe in Jesus anymore at least these old songs can give me comfort when I need it. I need some kind of illusion in my life to protect me from all the disillusion. Sorry to the people he's hurt, i'm still with you.
  21. You're a very kind and generous person. Don't change, even if you get hurt sometimes.
  22. I remember when he released these on his website. I'm almost positive that nothing was ever released from that song besides this. Yeah it's a really cool clip.
  23. Not unsurprising. But never count the man out. Either way he could use some time out of the spotlight.
  24. Stuff gets cut I guess. The Tribus songs look like tracks from an album that was coming out, but may not now, or may still, who knows.
  25. Amazing stuff. A Matthew/Hayley production. Can't wait to hear more.
