  1. i love U2. Great band, great songs. Lately they have been a little annoying though. Have gone more mainstream, and started "selling-out". Seems they are interested in making "hit" songs rather than good songs. And they seem to be everywhere in the media. People always hate music that is mainstream. Their early stuff is amazing though.
  2. Serial Joe sucked. Maybe when they hit puberty they realized this and quit.
  3. I liked Load and Re-Load. Hated S&M, there was too much symphony. St. Anger had 2 or 3 good or ok songs and the rest sucked. I'm a huge Metallica fan. I don't blame Bob Rock. He doesn't write the songs. He didn't tell them to go all country on Load. He didn't tell Kirk to stop doing solo's and big riffs on St. Anger. It wasn't Bob's faul James ruined his voice on the Black album tour so that he sings like crap live now. Metallica just got bored of doing old-school metal shit. It happens to some artists, where they just change their style & evolve from album to album and it alienates the fans. I liked Load and Reload as i said, but its very different than their earlier stuff so i can see why people hate it. And i hate St. Anger, but some people like it.
  4. the ever-poetic Matt is ever-confusing. So whats it really mean, anyone know? Does it mean, like, "here's all the shit i've done if you've been in a coma the last 10 years"?

  6. A few weeks ago, Paul Coffin admitted defrauding the federal government of $1.5 million in the Canadian spondership scandal, but instead of jail-time he sentanced to...complete community service via public speaking. What? http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/20...ce20050919.html And the latest, ex-Royal Canadian Mint president David Dingwall who recently "resigned" because of scandal over his luscious spending seems to be receiving very little punishment... http://www.canada.com/search/story.html?id...48-e9c664c0a725

  8. that was hilarious. thank u i enjoyed that.
  9. i don't like Backstreet Boys, N'synch, or Britney, but there's 1 or 2 songs from each that i like. But i do actually like the Spice Girls. I wouldn't be as ashamed of that because i'd defend it. But its very hard to defend the Backstreet Boys lol.
  10. - Dixie Chicks. i really like them. Definately my biggest guilty pleasure band. - I used to like some earlier Celine Dion songs before she went crazy post-Titanic. - I like Vanilla Ice. - I like that "good mother" song by Jann Arden. - Creed. everybody hates Creed. - Nelly Furtado. Not very manly. - OMG i bought that Vanessa Cartlon debut CD she had. I liked a few of the songs and thought she was hot. - LFO - David Foster

  12. hmm i thought Japan has Samuari's, and China had ninjas. ahh fuck now i'm all screwed up.
  13. So we should then all have the freedom to own nuclear weapons in our backyards, instead of retaining that restriction for all of our own protection? What u say doesn't make sense. We give up many freedoms & privacy in the name of protection, like we give personal information to the gov't and police etc. ...Unless you are an anarchist, which then it would be a valid opinion i guess. - and to the person who created this thread. That is a personal question of opinion. Your teacher is asking you at what point to YOU draw the line between national security/protection & giving up some freedoms. If any of us gave you our opinion to use, it would totally nullify the point of your assignment and you wouldn't learn anything except how to spin off others' opinions as your own.
  14. China has more soldiers, U.S. i'm sure has a huge technological advantage. And tons of nukes. But China has ninja's so China wins automatically.
  15. i hate unions and big business. i also hate onions.
  16. commies suck shit. You hear the news that in China they are cutting back (again of course) all sorts of independent media because its "mind-warping"? Fucking 1984 and Fahrenheit 451 is what that shit is. I shit on the communist dream right now.
  17. lol "the greens are obsessed with homosexuality". lmao.
  18. Wow that sucks Quik. But i'm sure there's someone one here who would be happy to give you an extra ticket. Also, where's GuitarChick? you'd think she'd be all over this stuff.
  19. f'ing sweet. I got in. 'Twas in my hotmail junkmail folder.
  20. Give them some time. I expect them to give confirmations within a day or so, maybe even more. I'm sure they are much less eager to send us confirmations than us sending them our requests. Its not they are waiting at 12 noon with sweaty anticipation for our emails! Its probably some dude who will get around to checking the emails sometime today and get around to sending out confirmations whenever its first convienient.

  22. except for CTV, Global (and stuff like Prime, CH etc.), all those zillion CHUM channels (CityTV, MuchMusic etc.), TVO, TSN, OMNI, The Score, Sportsnet, YTV, Comedy Network etc....and i could go on forever. I enjoy a bunch of good CBC shows like most people. Don't really want the CBC to end (it won't). The only thing i don't like about it is that its a government-funded channel, and hence their news goes through a political filter. I used to watch CBC news a lot, and still do, but i think Global National does a good job and CTV is ok too. I think it would be better if CBC was a publically-funded channel instead of government-funded (like PBS in the U.S.). I have no clue as to the strike situation or what the workers are asking for, but given that they are government-paid/employed workers they are probably already making too much money and receive lovely benefits (that we all pay for) so they should probably just shut-up and go back to work. p.s. i'm not a big hockey guy so the CBC strike doesn't really bother me as i'm happy to watch re-runs and good movies they show.

  24. LMAO, tonight's edition of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" mentions the exact same thing in my topic here! At the beginning of the show they showed a clip of Bush from his speech saying "...and to the extent that the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility". And then Jon's eyes go all bug-eyed like he's in total shock (like i was) of hearing what came out of Bush's mouth. lol So watch the Daily Show tonight. Its on 11pm ET on Comedy Network and 12:05am ET on CTV.
