  1. This was spoken about a lot at the time the album came out. People shouldn't have listened to the demos so much to begin with. And honestly having heard both, I would say the album versions are far superior.
  2. Well, it hasn't been 20 years yet!
  3. Over the summer I listened to a lot of tracks on Youtube that would just come on one after the other while I was at work. I'm pretty sure Nautical Disaster was among those. Very solid rock band all around.

Great job Emma. And awesome that Matt liked it too!
  5. I saw The Head and the Heart at Red Rocks in August. It was awesome. I didn't know them very well before summer started, but my friends and I wanted to go to Red Rocks (we'd never been) and we picked them out on the calendar. My friends were more familiar with them. I spent the summer listening to their stuff and really enjoyed them. The concert was great. Saw Young the Giant a couple of weeks ago at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. It was AWESOME. They are a great band and very fun. Great show. Upcoming I have: Oct 17 - Regina Spektor Nov 12 - Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds Nov 16 - The Paper Kites Not sure if those last two bands are known to anyone around here. Sister Sparrow is a fun rock/blues band. Paper Kites are a kinda mellow Australian indie rock-folk band.
  6. Pretty sure there's new material also being recorded.
  7. Thanks for clarifying Matt. I must have misread something somewhere along the line. Can't wait to hear this stuff.
  8. I was confused, I thought he was making a joke about Born to Kill in a reference to Something Like A Storm. This is really interesting now. And it's not like 2017 will be a big anniversary of Beautiful Midnight. Not like 20 year anniversary, not even 15. Hmm.
  9. Yes the tweet is in reference to Born to Kill. Funny because I never thought Something Like A Storm reminded me of Born to Kill but maybe they worked some magic and now they're twins.
  10. Sounds like they're taking a stab at a 17+ minute version of "Something Like A Storm" according to one of his most recent tweets. That makes me happy :D
  11. I'm American and really never knew anything about The Tragically Hip until the news about Gord made headlines. I took a listen and the first song I clicked on was Bobcaygeon. I thought it was such a beautiful song, and the story behind it is very interesting. I bought the album that it's on shortly afterward. Shame about how everything went down but at least he was well enough to do one more tour for his fans. I think that's great. Would be awesome to hear Matt Good cover "Bobcaygeon" someday.
  12. Something Like A Storm Bad Pennies That's all I want!
  13. Great post by Matt, wherever that was posted. Obviously I'm American but I have found myself listening to a decent range of Canadian artists. First and foremast Matt Good but I'm a huge fan of Hey Ocean! and I'm starting to get into Hannah Georgas. I've heard some Mother Mother and Yukon Blonde? and Big Wreck...it's good stuff. I used to post on a message board with the drummer from Said the Whale but we disagreed on a few things and I haven't talked to him since. lolz.
  14. Cool man. There was a while when I didn't use iTunes so those numbers aren't accurate for me. The numbers can also get messed up when you switch out one file for another. For the record I don't actually use Last.fm for anything. I used it a little in 2010-2012 to stream music at work (I actually did find some new bands I like through that method). But in general I've just had an account for years and just look at it from time to time out of curiosity. I
  15. Whether it's iTunes, Last.fm, Spotify or whatever other streaming service you have, you might have your tracks ranked by number of plays. I've been signed up to this site Last.fm since like 2005 and it's tracked my listening since then. There have been times when it hasn't worked of course so the numbers aren't exact, but it does kind of give you a good idea of what you listen to most. Here's my top 10 MGB and Matt Good charts from 2005 - Present: Matthew Good Band 1. Fearless (684 Plays) 2. Suburbia (474) 3. She's Got A New Disguise (436) 4. Running For Home (362) 5. The Fine Art of Falling Apart (361) 6. Native Son (346) 7. The War Is Over / Omissions of the Omen (276) 8. Life Beyond the Minimum Safe Distance (231) 9. Fated (223) 10. Load Me Up (209) Matthew Good 1. Last Parade (324 Plays) 2. She's In It For The Money (289) 3. Non Populus (265) 4. Born Losers (240) 5. It's Been A While Since I Was Your Man (225) 6. 99% Of Us Is Failure (218) 7. While We Were Hunting Rabbits (189) 8. Moon Over Marin (182) 9. The Boy Who Could Explode (174) 10. The Devil's In Your Details (174) What these rankings tell me is yes I am a melancholy person... :|...but there a couple of reasons why things place where they do. First I play some playlists more than others within iTunes and there are Matt Good songs scattered in there (running playlist, working/reading playlist...etc). Second as I said this is over the course of like 11 years and so the numbers are pretty high in general. But as you can see I never lied in all the times I've said on this board that I'm a big LOTGA fan! Anyway if you have something like this feel free to share your "charts" with us.
  16. I do feel cheated on the LOTGA. I don't like to complain, but damn. It's not Matt's fault obviously.
  17. I should have waited to buy these -_-
  18. It's a shame he scrapped it. I really love the song.
  19. Nickelback?
  20. Well the shipping was actually relatively quick! It was just the whole pressing of the vinyl issue that caused the delay. It only shipped out like a week and a half ago. Coming from another country I'll take that.
  21. I received my Chaotic Neutral vinyl today, nearly 4 months after the release of the album and 5 months after first pre-ordering it. lolz The saga is over.
  22. I mean in all honesty I don't read or pay attention to liner notes. I might look at them once. But I'm mostly concerned with the functionality of the record. Still, I suppose it's a bit embarrassing on the label's part. I know I'm responsible for a newsletter that goes out to 10k people for my job, and when there's a typo it pisses me off to no end when I don't catch it. I'm still excited to have the record. However I think this is a sign that Matt might need to raise a little hell just for the sake of it.
  23. Good thing I already bought these :sparq:
  24. Thanks for the reply Matt. Interesting comments on vinyls in general. Just spun Beautiful Midnight for the first time tonight. Sounds great! Could you speculate at all as to why Omissions was left off of LOTGA? I hope they didn't just like....not realize it was on there to begin with  I think someone mentioned that they'd think twice about buying White Light if Hopeless was left off. Might be worth bringing that up to the powers that be if that album makes the cut for the next round of releases.
