  1. Just to clarify, if you buy the vinyl, the "digital download card" will get you access to the entire album in mp3 right when it's released? It's not just for the single?
  2. I agree on Something Like A Storm. That is one of my favorite things he's done in a while and I was bummed when he went in a different direction. There's a few riffs in there that should be used somehow down the road.
  3. Shoulda recorded Bad Pennies.
  4. I like the single. I only listened to the demo probably twice so I barely remembered it and I didn't get attached to the bells. His vocals sound great.
  5. Consider it making something out of nothing. Always a satisfying feeling!
  6. Has Matt ever sported hair that short before?
  7. I haven't seen a full band Matt Good concert since 2010. In fact that was the only time I saw him full band. Every other time has been acoustic...and I love acoustic, but the full band was definitely a different, awesome experience. Problem is he hasn't toured with full band in the states very much since 2010. I'm considering flying up to Toronto on the next tour. The past few tours the dates always conflicted with stuff at my job. Hoping things work out a little better this time around. Would love to check out a show at Massey Hall.
  8. Any thoughts on when we might see a release? We lookin' at October? November? I would think earlier to allow for proper touring schedule.
  9. MG posted a photo on Instagram of a notebook with what looks like a possible tracklisting for the album. The list was: Harridan All You Sons And Daughters Moment Kid Down The Well Tiger by the Tail No Liars Girls in Black Cold Water Cloudbusting Army of Lions Los Alamos
  10. "Moment, Cold Water, Los Alamos, and All You Sons And Daughters in the bag." - MG on Twitter
  11. What was not to enjoy about Arrows of Desire? O_O
  12. I disagree. I think he ditched the right songs.
  13. The demo he just put up 7 minutes ago seems to reference at least in part the stuff that's been going on in his life lately...and incidentally it's my favorite demo so far outside of Something Like A Storm. lol.
  14. Unfortunately I haven't been too excited about most of these demos. Truth be told, what I liked most was Something Like A Storm, so of course he ditched it. Nothing he's posted since has been able to capture my interest as well as SLAS. Oh well.
  15. I've never heard Cloudbusting before. I just listened to it. Kind of an odd song but it sounds a little like the other demos Matt's been posting. Just a little. I think I'd still go with the Pixies song.
  16. I was flipping through my MG playlist in iTunes today and I was thinking about what Matt said about Bad Pennies not fitting with the sound of everything else he's been working on for the new album. Then it occurred to me that The Devil's In Your Details sounds totally different from most of the rest of Hospital Music, yet I feel like it's a good addition and offers kind of a needed upbeat shift in the middle of that album. I mean it is what it is, but I guess I'm just trying to point to something and say it's not unprecedented for Matt to switch up the tone in the middle of an album. I guess looking back at the rest of the albums it doesn't happen THAT often though.
  17. Dear Matt, Bad Pennies is the ultimate b-side. Don't give up. Sincerely, Gomo
  18. Hah, awesome thread. I listen to Bad Pennies a lot when I go running. It would be unreal if some iteration of it were to see the light of day in the studio. Also I like the idea of pulling out some old demos and putting a new shine on them. Something outta nothing.
  19. S'all good I wasn't bein' confrontational about it. Just wanted to clarify.
  20. I'm a big Billy Corgan fan, and he is a good example of the way an artist's voice changes over time. I've heard him through every phase of his career. He's much less aggressive now, which is fine. He doesn't have to be. As such, the kinds of songs he's writing have changed overall. My original comments about the vocal style weren't to suggest that Matthew Good should "sound like he did in his 20's." It's not about not comprehending change or anything like that. Everybody's just got preferences, that's all. That being said, who am I to argue with the artist's vision? If that's what he's looking for in the track then all the more power to em. I was curious to know if he was holding back just because it's a demo, but if that's the intent then go for it. I like moody music as much as the next fellow. I have no doubts Matt Good will churn out some epic stuff.
  21. I like the musical arrangements for the last few demos, but I'm not a huge fan of the vocal style he's been using on some of them. Kind of this long drawn out raspy whispering. Hoping he starts belting out a little bit more. I know that may very well change once it hits the studio. Could just be conserving his voice on the demos because why overdo it for a sample. Overall looking forward to a new album.
  22. The only thing I'll say is I still prefer the riffs in Something Like A Storm to the last couple of tracks, but gotta remember they're all only demos so can't judge until the finished products.
  23. I would totally want Hospital Music and Last of the Ghetto Astronauts on vinyl.
  24. @girl, You're speaking my language when you start posting Jeff Buckley tunes :D
