  1. Empty's The Rat Apparitions Running for Home Prime Time Avalanche
  2. Finally went and saw this flick tonight. Wouldn't have gone if i didn't get to see it in 3D IMAX, which i did. Visually, the movie is certainly stunning from a technical and special f/x point of view. In 3D the movie is pretty awesome to watch. Storywise, its very very predictable. This is no Terminator 2 for James Cameron, that's for sure. If i were a 10 year-old boy again, i'd probably go nuts over this film. But the simplistic plot has been done before a dozen times, and much better. It's basically Dances With Wolves in CG as others have also compared it, but Dances With Wolves does it much better and in much more subtle ways story-wise. The story also incorporates an angle of anti-U.S. foreign policy, which comes off lame. Terms like "terrorism", "shock and awe", and "preemptive strike" are used in the flick. 3 out of 5 stars.
  3. Ya, welcome to Ottawa. Home to old people and boring civil servants. Its not our fault, this government town would suck the life out of anyone. Ottawa must be easily one of the most reserved cities in North America.
  4. Yes, story and dialogue in that game is fantastic, though the story can get confusing towards the end. I never got into Chrono Trigger though, for some reason. I've tried.
  5. One of my favorite 3 games of all-time. Amazing game. Graphics, music, gameplay. Perfect.
  6. Currently played Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for 360. This game is wicked! It got mediocre reviews so i didn't buy it until now, and the first level was wonky and "meh" so i got a bit nervous, but every other level has been so awesome! The graphics and physics are AMAZING, and all the little Star Wars details make a nerd like me go crazy. One of the best Star Wars games i've ever played, but i'm only halfway done. Honestly, keep at it. Its very hard to break into that game as a beginner. As you said, the higher levels all have an advantage with the unlocked perks and weapons. Actually, by level 40 almost all the really important stuff is unlocked. So ya, its an uphill battle. I got the game on launch day, but i didn't play it ALL the time like tons of others so i was always a lower level than everyone. But my kill/death ratio has progressively gone up and up as i have ranked up. Also, probably THE most important thing i've learned from the game is to try and find a particular area (or two) in each map that you are comfortable in and you just seem to rape guys. Your "hot spot" will all depend on your playing style of course. It will take some time, but eventually you'll figure out the areas on each maps you are good at. I'm level 45 and there are still a couple maps where i haven't found a great spot and always get raped on that map. You'll eventually learn the areas on maps to stay away from, and which ones you can hang around. I think most people do this, you'll see guys rush off to certain spots or general areas. Its a very frustrating online game at first no doubt, like Halo was for me too. i almost wanted to stop playing with this game and the 1st Modern Warfare. Hope you have fun!
  7. Agoraphobe and Annabelle. Great songs. Annabelle gets no love here.
  8. Others have talked about it already. From my understanding, the recording of the album was hell for him because of the bad vibes/fighting between the band leading to the breakup. Many of the songs bring up bad memories of that time, i remember Matt saying if i'm not mistaken. The album seems to be the 2nd most popular one among Matt Good fans, just behind Avalanche. Most people basically worship those 2 albums on The Bored.
  9. You say the same for EVERY ELECTRIC SHAVER IN THE WORLD.
  10. Forgot to finish a sentence in my last post, my bad. Charles and I were joking about Mrs. Jesus in your thread in the "introduction" section of the Bored. So don't worry you're not involved.
  11. I apologized to Saturnine. If i offended you somehow at some point, then i apologize to you as well (if i offended you with my wisecracks about u in "myburningbridges", i'm sorry also, i was just kidding with that stuff, 100% honest). I don't want to start anything with anyone on The Bored, so can we please bury the hatchet? *extends olive branch*
  12. that's awesome. he should have been a running back, and after he's tossed the ball 2 big guys could throw him over everybody across the scrimmage line. You could get at least like 5 yards on each play no problem.
  13. i got: new wallet "Star Wars: Force Unleashed" game for Xbox 360 new winter tires for my car from my dad!! pair of pants "1984" by George Orwell a calender (featuring "extreme sports", even though i'm not really into extreme sports and have a huge fear of heights lol) new watch lots of candy and chocolate!
  14. It's not just rape. In least developed countries in the world, women have very few reproductive rights. They have little to no access to birth control, and are often seen as the property of the men whom they are married to, who can force them to have sex without much the woman can do about it. Even when the woman has a power over herself, the lack of access to birth control for men and women is still a problem in overpopulation. But i would be naive to say the problem isn't much more complex than that. I agree with you in that overpopulation is a huge problem. The region of the world with the highest population growth, Sub-Saharan Africa, is also the most impoverished region of the world. As you alluded to above, if we were to save the 9+ million children under the age of 5 who die every year from preventable poverty-related causes, the world would become even more populated. However, i don't think seeing the problem as "herd-thinning" is the right way to look at it, nor is it the right solution to save the kids, then "kill the adults or at least castrate them". I think a better approach is to try and prevent needless deaths, while at the same time developing humane ways to curb high birth rates (birth taxes, birth control etc.). In order to sustainably save the lives of the children (and adults for that matter) dying from preventable causes, the areas/countries that these people live in must become more economically, socially, and politically developed. With improvements in income, education, health/healthcare, political stability etc., there certainly will come more opportunity for these people to be more knowledgeable about sex and reproduction (& associated problems with overpopulation, HIV/AIDS etc.), and their access to birth control will also improve, as will their ability to facilitate whatever other means are needed to curb birth rates. Whatever the case, i think a smaller, but healthier population in the world is more humane and desirable over the status quo. The current situation is disgusting.
  15. Yes, i found the same thing. I was a big fan of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, also by Bioware and similar style RPG. But i know the Star Wars universe since i'm a geek, but Mass Effect is a totally new universe they created. Found it overwhelming trying to learn (and read) all about the different races, technology, places etc. in the game. There are also is a TON of talking/conversation in the game, where you just have to sit and listen...and listen...and read...and listen. It bored me quickly, so i sold the game.
  16. Brag about your holiday spoils here! So far i got a Xmas tree ornament in the form of a little sled with my name of it. But Xmas morning tomorrow will be the mortherload!!!!
  17. I wanted to play that last night, but some family came home so i missed it. No big deal + my wicked family is way better!!
  18. Mrs. Jesus i don't know, its Xmas Eve and i really don't want to get into it. It's sad she died, or anyone dies, right before Xmas (unless they don't celebrate Xmas). I also want to apologize to Saturnine for the dickhead tone off my reply to his post. Poverty and development is just a subject that i am passionate about so i got a bit snappy. Sorry.
  19. What i meant was that why do people make such a huge deal about individual celebs who die that they don't even know, while the obituaries in the newspaper are filled with individuals who die in similar fashions. Some famous people i can see as important, such as a political leader etc. or somebody who actually influenced the world in a meaningful way (good or bad). These same people who care about one celeb dying most often don't care when millions of "faceless" people die en masse needlessly. Almost 10 million children under the age of 5 die of mostly preventable causes each year, which is completely f'ed up. That's not "just life".
  20. What if you're an impoverished woman who has no access to birth control and your husband or some misc. man rapes you or otherwise forces you to have sex, and you become pregnant? Do you think the woman chose to become pregnant? Or chose for the man not to even stick around most of the time? Is this the child's fault that he was conceived? Is it the child's fault that his mother dies during childbirth because of infection, disease, poor sanitation and otherwise lack of any healthcare whatsoever, leaving him/her an orphan? Nobody has ever chosen to be born. That's not karma, and you don't "deserve it". Your head just emailed me, it wants you to remove him from your anal cavity. p.s. Merry Christmas.
  21. I'd really love to see Oasis on their "What's the Story Morning Glory?" tour, back when they were actually great. Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath in the mid-70's would also be awesome.
  22. LOTGA is a very different record than Matt's other stuff, which is why i think its among the least fav albums with Bored'ers. It's quite a folksy record, but i happen to like the style of it. I first got into MGB when Underdogs came out and Apparitions/Everything is Automatic were radio hits, so i bought Underdogs. Thought it was pretty good. Then a few months later a friend of mine's brother had LOTGA so i borrowed it from him and was just blown away. That record turned me into a huge MG fan. LOTGA was an upbeat record musically, with simple and catchy folk-rock tunes (with some apocalyptic lyrics ya, but the music itself had a positive vibe). I thought Underdogs and Beautiful Midnight were really dark, angry records, and i didn't like them as much. I was glad when Matt's style became brighter and less angry with Audio of Being and Avalanche.
  23. What Computer just said about laptop lifespan is true (his name is "Computer" so i guess he should his shit eh? haha). You should consider that you're going to get a shorter life on a laptop than on a desktop. Depending on how you will handle your laptop (carry it around a lot, or mostly use it at home etc. Plus turning it off when not in use VS keeping it on even in sleep-mode 24/7, plus keeping it well ventilated VS always using it on your bed) you're going to get 3-4 years out of your laptop typically, sometimes less or more if you're lucky/unlucky. Meanwhile, a desktop can last you a decade, with usually a blown power-supply/fan as your only problems (sometimes a crapped-out harddrive if you're unlucky), but by that time you'll be really needing to upgrade it anyways. Just something to consider. Value-wise a desktop is always the way to go any way you look at it, but you have to weigh that with your needs to have something you can take with you ie: laptop.
  24. good question, i'd like to know myself. Actually i have found quite a few MG and MGB tabs on ultimate-guitar.com, thats the only place i know other than mgtabarchives.
  25. I feel the same. I really don't give a fuck about Tiger Woods, i don't even watch golf. It's almost a blessing that Michael Jackson is dead, he molested children (and his music talent had been dead for almost 2 decades). Lots of people die, its life. It is sad she died young, but i didn't know her, i'll think about her death for about 5 seconds and then thats all i care. A child dies every 3 seconds from poverty-related causes yet most people don't give a shit. I don't think thats the point. It doesn't distract us. What is covered on the news is what WE want reported. News is a business, and they cover what is popular and what will bring an audience. It's a reflection on us, we want to hear about that guy who played The Joker and Brittany Murphy but not people dying because of war, poverty, or human rights abuses. It's basically just another extension of pop culture. Justin Timberlake & Lady Ga Ga are popular, but they suck and the hundreds of amazing Indie acts toil on without most people ever even hearing their music unless they are featured in an iPod commercial.
