I haven't listened to it yet and don't know for sure if I will but probably. I'm going to try and not judge too much from the stream though because the actual album can be quite a different experience. I enjoyed Hospital Music a bit better when I listened to it in full quality for the first time. Also some others so I'll hold off on really judging the album until I have some time with it the way it's meant to be heard.

I ordered it from Sandbagrecords.com yesterday for $17. I figured it would be at least as much or probably a little more in stores and I'm not sure whether I'd be able to get to a store that sold it or not within the next week or two so figured I'd go for it. I hope they're trustworthy. -
Was Hospital Music streamed for just the day or did it continue to be streamed?

Yeah, I think you might be right. Listening to the second demo of ETP again I'd say yeah, it's a pretty big improvement over the original. The whole thing sounds fuller. I don't know if I agree that the first version's chorus is better. I think pretty much everything is better in the second.

Why Is Black Helicopter On 'hospital Music'
Manchalivin replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Matthew Good
Disagreed. The lyrics to Black Helicopter are perfectly fine and there's a couple great lines in there. Let's not criticize them, I don't think that's what this thread is about at all. I have thought too though about it being an odd choice for Hospital Music but I couldn't care less as it's possibly the best song on there. -
Boooo. I was holding out a little hope it would be a hidden track. I know it's a favourite and I'll probably like the album version a lot better than the original demo but I would almost rather have this than Empty's Theme Park. As I've said, I just found it too long and drawn out. Matt's delivery is pretty drab and monotonous and the song becomes kind of boring. However, I did like the updated version he posted quite a bit more. Still, unless he improved everything a lot more I think it will be too long for its own good.

The tracklisting is up in the discography section of Matthew Good's site. Edit: Nevermind, too late on that one.

Man, that kind of sucks. I'm glad there's some news and we got the new single but exactly what I had a slight concern for some reason might happen happened. I don't want to complain but I'm really REALLY disappointed Life In Spite Of Itself didn't make the album. I mean what the heck, I thought everything but Bad Pennies was gonna make it. I don't think this song needed to be cut at all and it was honestly one of my favourite demos. I really liked its addition after a few listens. Not to be a downer but that really sucks to me, unless it's a hidden track but I doubt it and why for? I can always listen to the demo but it's not the same. Hopefully he'll release a properly recorded version of it at some point though. Edit: I quickly realize why you don't snatch up all the demos you hear. Anyways, (rant over), the single sounds good and it's quite a bit longer which I didn't expect. Last Parade seriously was one of the options for single in my opinion so I'm not at all surprised by the choice.

After doing some searching it seems HMV and CD Plus will be selling the album. I don't know of where else though. Please post if you find it elsewhere to buy a physical copy. It now shows up on both Amazon.ca and Amazon.com. But I'm more interested in actual stores. -

And...... BAM!!! Irrational Anthems will be out August 25! I don't know where the heck it'll be available. It just says August 25th on Ryan's site that finally has something on it and apparently it's through Sandbag Records so you can see it on their site as well. -

I don't know but something I was recently wondering: has Born to Kill ever been played live? I would certainly hope it has been but I don't know. It seems like one of those that everyone would want to be but there was some sort of excuse found to not play it. Anyway, I'm listening to When the Stars Begin to Fall by Tomahawk.

Oh alright. I thought it was maybe just for news and stuff like that and thought there should be one for an all out album/song discussion fest like it was 1699. But I get it now. Anyway, my least favourite song from the new record as of now is actually Empty's Theme Park. What is everyone else's? I realize I'm probably by myself on this but it's just too long for what it is to me. Particularly Matt's delivery/lyrics being kind of bland I guess coming together with the lengthy-ness of the song. And musically the original demo is too long and repetitive in my opinion. However, I listened to the updated demo and it's quite a bit more different than I remember. I thought there was just an extra part added and the rest was basically the same but hearing it again it's a clear improvement over the original but I'd say it's still my least favourite right now. I really like the latest ETP musically though and am looking forward to hearing how it sounds on the record. And I gotta say, I surprisingly have little to complain about for most of the demos for Vancouver.

Don't be silly. I didn't mean it that serious. It was sort of half serious half joking we'll say. Drop a load off, heuh heuh.
-
Is this the official Vancouver discussion (opinions, speculation, news, everything) thread? Because I was just thinking of making a thread for Vancouver discussion (like opinions and whatnot) but didn't think there was a proper one so I'm asking if this is the official one for just discussion in general or if it would be good to make a new one?

Your Favorite Album Art

I missed it, kind of on purpose. I would have liked to hear it. I thought I would maybe listen to it once but probably not rip this one but then I didn't get to it or even really try to get to it because I figured I've already heard practically everything and I'd leave listening to whatever previews might be yet to come ( which I'm sure are none). And plus, this particular song I'm interested more in it being somewhat unknown when I first hear the album than some of the others.
-
I agree. That would be great to have some extensive information on Matt and his career.
-
Come on! Wolf Parade, Mother Mother, Human Highway? How about Matthew freaking Good? Clearly the only option on that list. ;) This is a MG forum and thread, what are you doing not voting for Matthew Good and instead things no one's heard of? And I'm not sure why you'd feel weird voting for Matt. He didn't do much? He produced a good live album of a very good performance, what's he supposed to have done to be truly worthy?

Cky
Manchalivin replied to Manchalivin's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I think you should give their new album a listen. You may find it mighty enjoyable. Unless you're not at all into that sound anymore. I like how much it sounds like CKY yet it's still clearly different after a few albums. -
What are your thoughts? They have a new album coming out tomorrow called Carver City and I've been quite into it the last few days. I also quite like their last album An Answer Can Be Found. I think they're unique and have some sweet sounds. They are pretty original in my opinion and sound fresh to me.
