  1. All Together Oh Be Joyful Vs. The Devil's In Your Details
  2. Yeah, I was thinking maybe a 2.5 for LOTGA but definitely no more than a 3. Listening to it the other day I just found it very bland overall compared to most of his other records. Still appreciate it though and it has a few solid songs.
  3. Strange Days Battle of the weak: Anti-Pop Vs. Radio Bomb
  4. Kind of a hard one but I'll pick Ex-Pats. Acoustic/Non-Acoustic: Generation X-Wing (Raygun) Vs. Generation X-Wing (Rooms)
  5. I'm not really a fan of Champions of Nothing but it doesn't seem right to pick the other one so Champions of Nothing it is. Lullaby For The New World Order Vs. Bright End of Nowhere
  6. You suck! ;) Both of those are quite good.
  7. Totally disagreed. I Miss New Wave is an essential Beautiful Midnight song. It fits so perfectly on there. It's one of my favourite MG songs ever and Going All The Way is awesome and Let's Get It On is a good solid song. 2 of some of the best songs on there. That's the real Beautiful Midnight. I think it would flow better that way and you're still getting all the songs if you have both albums. You don't get the qualities of I Miss New Wave with any of those 3 songs from Underdogs. As far as first time listening, I Miss New Wave was one of the songs that struck me most when I first heard BM. Canadian version OWNS US version. Period. ;) 100,000 points!
  8. You must be talking about a promo copy of the album or something. Because it wasn't changed. I Miss New Wave is an original Beautiful Midnight song and that album only came out in 1999.
  9. Must be nice. Yeah this stream definitely sounds better I think. Not as good as the actual cd on my cd player but more than good enough.
  10. I like the album version of Silent Army in the Trees and it might be one of the better songs on Vancouver but I really like the acoustic live version from over a year ago or whenever and think acoustic fits this particular song the best. And I am not really an acoustic person, I usually prefer it electric. There are just some songs where acoustic hits the spot for me . I think I just like that it sounds more serious and the album one sounds more cheery or upbeat than I think it should. I think that's my favourite version of the song even though it's only under 3 minutes long.
  11. I think the itunes stream is through the regular link because it normally starts at the beginning when you click it but started near the end of Volcanoes for me. And I think it sounds a bit different too.
  12. Vancouver iTunes Stream: Tuesday, Sep 22nd On Tuesday, September 22nd at 10am EST Vancouver will begin streaming in live format at full CD-quality via iTunes Radio, and also here on the website through an exclusive player that will also tap into the stream. This stream differs in a few ways from the album stream currently available on the website. It will not play start to finish but rather is a live stream that plays the entire record in rotation. When you tune in you
  13. I don't know about you guys but I have come to really enjoy this album a lot. It was great for a real change from the awesome but usual sound. Not at all to say his albums aren't all different but they still all have a generalized similar overall sound as pretty much any artist's albums do and this one has a more distinctly different sound. You know what I mean (it's not a criticism in the least). Anyway, when I first heard it I enjoyed it but I set it totally apart from his other work (and not just because of the obvious reason). Now I think it stacks up well against his other material in terms of quality and I have to say I like it better than Last of the Ghetto Astronauts and might put it above Hospital Music or tied at the very least. I could see people thinking it's generic based on hearing a little bit on the radio but Matt makes it his own. Simple, hooky, skillful and tight musicianship. It's got great tasty guitar playing and Matt's presence of course makes it that much better. Nice to see more upbeat Matt Good.
  14. Thank you guys for the refreshing opinions. The praise for Pulp Fiction is seemingly endless and it seems like almost no one hates that movie. I don't understand how anyone can justify that horribly horribly boring pointless dialogue as being something super spectacular or special. The 40 or so minutes we watched went absolutely nowhere. Lots of dialogue can be great if it even remotely adds to the movie and is interesting\funny\amusing but that couldn't be further from the truth with this movie.
  15. Oh I see. Yeah, not only would you be missing a couple great songs, but it would also affect the flow of the album and you'd have some songs you already had on another album. Just a stupid move by the label or whoever to tamper with such a great album and ruin how it was meant to be heard. I don't know why they did such a dumb thing. It would still be an excellent album probably but not the same.
  16. What's wrong with you man? That version is the only way to listen to it. Have you even heard the real Beautiful Midnight? I'm assuming you have but why in the world would you keep the US version? Once you've heard the original there's just no other option. Those are some essential tracks you'd be missing out on.
  17. Yeah I'd say you're pretty much the only one. It's just got an infectious hooky quality to it. It's a hit.
  18. Yeah I don't actually either, but I can always hope.
  19. Aw, that blows. It wasn't a matter of wishful thinking, it was that someone actually said there was a hidden track but obviously he was being a retard. I shouldn't have gotten excited so soon. Oh well. Or maybe Matt is just adding to the mystery..hmmmmm? ;)
  20. I've asked on MG site. Hopefully someone can clarify.
  21. Idiot! He's lying I'm sure.
  22. Well by the sounds of it it's way after Empty's Theme Park because he says he's listened to it 20 times and hadn't heard it til now. Maybe he's yanking our chain but I don't know why he'd do such a cruel thing. Dammit that would be awesome Bad Pennies making it to the album after all the talk and disappointment about it not being on it.
  23. What's this guy from the matthewgood.com comments yammering on about? Anyone know about this? Bad Pennies afterall perhaps? ;) Here's to hoping. "I just found by a happy accident the 11th Track!!! (Hidden or Bonus track, whatever you call it). It is but far the best on the album! After listening to the entire 10 song stream at least 20 times I wish I would have known about it earlier. A hidden jem! Masterpiece. I hope it is on the album and not just a
  24. This will be a pretty good album I think. Again, I'm not gonna say much because of it being a lowered quality stream and not the full quality of the CD and on my CD player with the sound just right for me but I like what I heard. I'm fine with Empty's Theme Park. The demo has gotten better after a few listens and it sounds really nice on the album. It's a great choice as closer with the strings being big and nice and the overall feel of the song. The Vancouver National Anthem is even better than the demo and I liked that one quite a lot. I'm very happy that some of Matt's bitter sound and anger is still there. That's one of the things I wasn't sure would be translated over right but it was so no worries. I am unsure overall what will be better, the demos or proper album but I have little doubt I will come to really enjoy this recording and it will definitely be a worthy addition. A couple of the demos I think I like better but these are still very satisfying. From what I hear this album is pretty raw and has a more live sound at spots. As someone else said, this would be a good album to end on. Not that I'd want that but it sounds right. Particularly ETP at the end. Obviously I want Matt to continue on for as long as possible but I'm just saying it kind of has that feel.
  25. Yeah so with taxes it would be roughly the same price. And I'm sure at CD Plus or wherever else they sell it it would be about the same or more. Cool that they had lots of copies. Too bad I rarely go to the malls that have those stores or I could have it sooner. What do you think of the album by the way?
