They really lost me with their S/T album. The only song I ever really liked off that cd was Obvious Heart. These days, Finger Eleven is as generic as Three Days Grace.

What's your favourite Matthew Good or Band song to sing along to? Maybe you really like the lyrics or just the way he sings it that makes you think inside that perhaps you could pull it off on your own. Or maybe it just makes you feel so good inside that you have to sing with him. I personally enjoy attempting Truffle Pigs.

Great record. Overall, has the "big sound" of Self-Titled with teh beats from Team Sleep and the much needed angst from Around The Fur. I can imagine the cd will only get better by the listen.

Great show. Only problem was that the show really ended late (2:30AM) and I couldn't keep myself up (was up at 7AM). Drew Smith: typical acoustic rock--one of those performances where the crowd talks the whole way through it. He was okay. A Northern Chorus: Easily the best band musically. A cross between Sigur Ros and The Arcade Fire I would say. Vocals could have been stronger but very, very strong musicianship. The Nines: Sounded like an upbeat Ben Folds Five. They were pretty good but I thought they were on way too long. A guy who was with me was basically his favourite local band and he died during their set. The Marble Index: Not the greatest band musically but there's no doubt that they can put on a great show, probably the most enjoyable of the night. The singer was ridiculously intoxicated which ruined his vocal ability but I admired his effort. Wax Mannequin: Came on at 1:30AM. I was so tired but I wasn't going to leave that performance. Very solid performance. The guy has potential to be a poor man's Mike Patton (not to mention that he did have a great diverse voice). Worth it for $5 plus got a compiliation double disc that feautured 32 Hamilton bands for free. ONLY problem is that the show ended when it ended and I had to pay $8.50 for a taxi as it was my only means of transportation. Oh well.

If Corktown had more math rock/post rock bands, it probably would have won me over but lost me with the punk rawk headliners. Absinthe is a safe choice too--probably my second choice. The Underground is hard to say--especially when I don't know who the headliner is. And well the Pepper Jack bands are for the fans of teh beats. Toodles.

So who has heard the new Deftones cd? I downloaded it but never heard it yet. Hole in the Earth is a spectacular song and if it's anywhere as good as that song, I'll be extremely pleased.

Not generic at all. Sounds like even further progression from ACLOTM, which was by far their best album.

Silverchair shirt? I can't remember any silverchair shirts. I wore a red shirt and was at the front again during the show (but who wasn't?) The first two bands just sucked and that Daughters was...different. Pelican was great obviously. No, I definitely can't remember your face--strange. Unless you were one of the people who were sitting in those high chairs. I didn't get a good look of any of those people. I actually was purposely looking for you at the beginning because I would think it would have evolved into an interesting chat...but it wasn't meant to be!

Were you one of the 20 people at the Pelican show?

I'm sorry but I find the emo scene extremely lame. I mean, I don't like hearing prepubescent vocals with shitty breakdowns--on that note, I don't know who'd I'd rather listen to: Moneen or Protest The Hero? Disgusting.

I wish I never sold my copy of No Cities Left back in the spring of 2005.

So I'm right in the middle of listening to this album and I'm thinking that this is something really special. I never really gave them a chance prior as the whole 'Alt-Country' genre turned me off but this is very solid. To me, this is more 'experimental alternative' and I can't really detect any country. Maybe the older records? I remember I heard the song "Box Full Of Letters" a long time ago and I thought the song sucked ass but this stuff is far better. I know there are other Wilco fans here, so speak. Just finished the cd. The second part had a lot of piano arrangements but the music still had a lot of depth in the background--really cool. Way better than anything that Ben Kweller can pull off.

I can't say that I remember seeing you. Just before Isis started, I managed to get right at the front of everyone and right in the middle of the stage where I practically leaned against the barrier the entire time. I was in awe just watching them switching all of their pedals and what not during the show. There were easy 60 different pedals/effect things on stage during their performance. I went with four other people--one of them was an emo kid (and he seemed to be the only one at the entire show) so see if you remember seeing a group of people with an emo kid, that was us.
