  1. well it's season one (2003/04) so she was... 14 years old! I've watched 13 episodes so far and I must say...I'm getting hooked. It's nearly Curb Your Enthusiasm funny and if you know me, you know that's funny.
  2. Bingo! (the 8 character limit thing is so stupid)
  3. Built to Spill released an album this year.
  4. They're grown up drastically over the years.
  5. Ready or not! Also, who remembers the old YTV Hitlist when they used to play rock videos? I specifically remember Hitchin' a Ride by Green Day doing extremely well.
  6. Watched two more episodes and it's growing on me. The teasers at the end of the show are a nice idea. I don't care how old "Maybe" is, she's freakin' hot. I first thought there were too many characters but all of their personalities are starting to gel at me. Not funny-funny yet but I'll keep you updated.
  7. Okay, I borrowed season one today and have watched the pilot so far. To say this off the bat, I'm not much of a fan of My Name Is Earl or The Office and judging by the pilot, this is the same comedy style as The Office. The Office isn't a bad show by any means...but it's just not very funny. Just to get a consensus here: For the fans here, is season one pretty solid? Do they get better by the season? I'm going to play episode two right now. The pilot was alright--didn't get much of a laugh though.
  8. One of the pioneers of the alt/rock world Sonic Youth never get recognition here. They have a huge discography--most of them worth checking out. Their earlier stuff would probably be extremely hard to get into (early punk roots with noise...lots of noise) and looking over my thread about Pavement, you guys might not like it--though they started add some melody with the Sister album. But they peaked into a greater dimension with the 88 masterpiece Daydream Nation--freaking awesome, yes probably my favourite album of the 80s. The band is famous for their signature "freak outs" and complex, yet tight musicianship--by far one of the best musicians in my collection. I'll admit that vocally, both Thurston and Karen are pretty sub-par vocalists. But I think they purposely tried the minimalist approach with vocals since they wanted to be different from the mainstream. Though if you are a fan, you will notice that they started to put more effort in their vocals in the later records...I thought Karen sang awesome throughout the whole Sonic Nurse album. Also, Thurston Moore released a terrific solo album in 98 called Psychic Hearts--check that out if you're a fan--up there with any Sonic Youth record. I assume like the Pavement thread, this will be a failure as well.
  9. Listened to the album. Sorry guys. The music is actually pretty solid but the singer sucks ass at screaming.
  10. That was such an impressive concert. Wish I was more familiar with these songs beforehand. Hard to say what was the best last night: nerves or macabre probably. Hell, the whole set was incredible besides ummm...weighty haha. But like I said earlier, buying two of their albums at the show really says something. Yeah, that rendition of Dance Macabre was a marvelous, marvelous way to end a show. Won me over.
  11. Okay it turns out that I was just steps away from you the entire time. I was near the big bass system JUST to the right of you. That's weird that I didn't see you...unless you changed! Hmmm. So yes, I was beside the guy who was taking all the big flash photography (I'm sure you noticed). As for the Matt Good comment, I didn't hear it--I would had been enraged. ALSO, I was looking for you because I didn't have a ride back and I KNOW that you would have lent a fellow 'bored' member a ride; but rather, I had to walk all the way home because the concert was on a friggen Sunday (buses dislike to run on Sundays). Oh well. Concert was fantabulus. Five times? That sure is a lot. Red jacket? I went to the merch table immediately after so I had to have seen you. That just fucking sucks.
  12. Great show! Now I've been to a lot of concerts...and this is only the second concert ever where I bought merchandise (their two albums). Wow, very impressive set. What's most impressive that they can deliver live especially Paul Murphy...that guy makes it look easy up there. Full house too. If it was not sold it, then it was damn close. I really wanted to find Meg but I didn't see her or her alleged dress! Even if you were with a bunch of your cool friends, I so would have said something. That was the only letdown of the night. Well the opening acts were bland. But they're supposed to be a bland and the crowd is supposed to talk over their set the entire time--it's the rule.
  13. I think I've decided that I'm going to go to the concert alone--just too good of a show to miss. And this isn't the first time I've been a concert alone--the only problem is really between the sets; pretty awkward but walking around the venue over 20 times really makes the time fly by. So if anyone sees a loner talking to nobody, come up to me and say: "So you must be Moncton? A pleasure to meet you!"
  14. I would go tomorrow...but I have no one to go with. Unless...no I don't want to create any ideas. I wouldn't think it's sold out yet so I guess I'll make a game-time decision tomorrow.
  15. I assume it sounds more like Deja Entendu over Your Favourite Weapon?
  16. Word to that (for the most part)--still give an edge to the mars volta.
  17. Comparing them as dismal bands for today's youth? Yes. Not related genres obviously. My brother used to love MSI but then he started to realize to himself "why the fuck am I listening to this?" and thankfully, he grew out of that embarrassing phase. "'Cause bitches love me because they know that I can ROCK! THROUGHOUT THE PROJECTS!" *throw to imitation 'Smells Like Children' era Manson music while Urine (the singer) kicks his own ass on stage*
  18. Special on Muchmusic right now showing a ton of Matt Mays and Buck 65 videos.
  19. Currently listening to the new album! Go to www.etceteraforums.com to download it. That site pretty much has everything. Oh boy! Move over A Crow Left Of The Murder...we got a new wiener. Fuck, that was great.
  20. Hard to get into? Then I guess try the '98 album called Brighten The Corners--more straight forward.
  21. That's Crooked RAIN, Crooked RAIN...fantastic album. Give it another listen. not sure why death cab for cutie is on my mind...
  22. saddly it's prime has been past about 7 years ago. more like 11 years ago. The series started to fall in season 6 and DIED in season 7. Seasons 3 & 4 of the Simpsons = best television of all time. Also, yes that Oprah South Park episode was brutal.
