  1. now theres a band that should reform, and would sound awesome regardless of the almost 10 years that have passed since their breakup.
  2. their first album was.... but no, the band isnt... but hardcore fans tend to have that complaint... that they arent sticking to their roots.
  3. i like this album a lot. if you can get over the fact that it's not "stoner rock", then you'll be fine.
  4. the new album has leaked. look anywhere and ye shall find it. although, oink doesnt seem to have it listed yet... strange.
  5. i didnt say there was. and yeah, his work for APC is when he's at his craziest.
  6. yeah josh does a lot of work. i think he's been on every avril album, or at least the more recent ones. in those cases, i think his style isn't really all that present...
  7. i blame old age. i think he is out of touch, but that's not something a manager can fix. it's a creative thing.
  8. so are all their previous ones. they're pretty consistent.
  9. cornell needs to grow his hair out, take off his shirt, dust off those ol' doc martins, and start screaming again.
  10. ;) glad i could be helpful.
  11. t'was i who recommended mr. nick cave to you (i think). if you liked abattoir blues/the lyre of orpheus then you'd probably like grinderman as well. grinderman is very much a different side of nick, but the songs remain well written and bluesy at their core. i would pursue more of nick's back catalog, but take your time with it. as far as i've found, nothing quite sounds like abattoir blues/the lyre of orpheus. also, if you find that you've become a fan of that strange electric violin sound so prominent in nick's more recent releases, then i'd certainly advise you look into dirty three, who are another group of aussies, fronted by warren ellis, expert stringsman and resident noisemaker for both the bad seeds as well as grinderman, not to mention the soundtrack to the proposition. they're an instrumental band, but they're fucking badass. p.s. fuck HMV. go somewhere else, where people actually have good taste in music.
  12. i have a wii. i just bought a second remote and it came with the "wii play" game, which i am currently addicted to.
  13. anything by !!! my girlfriend recommends "must be the moon," while i recommend "sweet life."
  14. i don't know why you're having such trouble finding it. i found it with relative ease way back when people still used kazaa to download songs. regardless, here you go. Foo Fighters - Baker Street
  15. wow, yeah. because the extra two weeks really help you "feel" the album. that AND THE THING CHANGES COLOUR HOLY SHIT!
  16. its what the media does best. its partly sensationalism, but it also has to do with the fact that they dont have much more of a clue about why someone does something than we do. like when the dawson college shooting happened in the fall, they blamed it on goth culture, not the fact that the dude had a sucky life. its funny how you wont ever see any media outlets labeling this shooting as terrorism, because the assailant wasnt brown or screaming things about a jihad, even though mindlessly killing 30 individuals sounds like terrorism to me.
  17. i think he's a tad overrated, but i also think that the argument of "he didnt write his own shit" is besides the point. if you look at other musicians of his time like frank sinatra or nat king cole, most of what they performed wasn't their own material. they'd take songs that were standards, or songs that were composed for them to play and shouldnt be seen as any less of a musician because of it. the idea that a "true" artist writes their own music is a notion that didn't arise or become really important until post-beatles. as long as we maintain the distinction that elvis is important to music and not the best thing to happen to it, i think we'll be okay.
  18. whoops, i forgot to mention: the replacements - "bastards of young"
  19. nice touch with the black flag album. i just got into them recently and have been enjoying it quite a bit. "rise above" is probably my favourite track offa this one. also, thanks for the talkdemonic and kraftwerk albums. ive been meaning to get those.
  20. why would you exclude hush?
  21. peter gabriel - sledgehammer http://youtube.com/watch?v=VArQABogDL4
  22. the title track of the new album, "era vulgaris," which won't be featured on the album itself, has been posted online. the song features trent reznor from the band U2, and is kinda good. lemmie linx ya'll up: http://www.sendspace.com/file/onjujt
