Worst Songs By Bands You Like

most of lotga??? how can someone hate most of an album by an artist they are apparently a big fan of? i suppose its possible but its not cool...not cool! ...the same way an artist themselves can hate an entire body of work that they have made (matt and his hate-on for the audio of being, up until recently). you can be critical of an artist's work while still being a big fan. do fans of guns n roses have to like the spaghetti incident simply because their name is branded on it? heck no. -
Peter Bjorn & John
borntohula replied to Duke101's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
ok, im giving them another listen, and i think i like them more. im only four songs in, but they're all great. -
at the same time, with matt, its very difficult to distinguish between personal and political, because they're so closely related...

"Pilgrimage" by NIN. "Parachutes" by Pearl Jam most of LOTGA, and "In Love With a Bad Idea" by Matthew Good. -

is trent wearing a shemagh or is it just a part of that pretentious "i wear scarves indoors" trend? -
this is horrible news. Katie Holmes was great. Maggie Gylenhaal creeps me out cuz she looks so much like her brother. But i loved Batman Begins. Possibly the best super-hero comic-to-movie translation ever, maybe even better than Spider-Man. Joker should have been played by Cripsin Glover. That dude is already crazy! And he wouldn't even need any make-up, he looks just like the joker! Plus he's a cool actor. crispin glover pic i could see crispin glover being a good joker... but in that picture, he sortof reminds me of the riddler a bit more. i think he'd make for an interesting villain, regardless of who he played. as for the gyllenhaal/holmes debate... i didnt mind katie as rachel dawes... but i think maggie will bring a lot more... talent to the role. i think she's a much better actress. its interesting that they will have a reprising love-interest for batman, which is a first. no longer will he be like james bond, thank god. im just overtly excited at the fact that theres an actual talented cast here, and that all the new roles are played by just as talented individuals. with other comic book flicks, you always have to worry about how things will end up. take spiderman for instance. kirsten dunst? blech. tobey mcguire? blech.

i really like that song. after one listen, i'd say the album was pretty good. -
donnie darko is high on my list. i think crash is overrated. way to portray racism in a way that doesn't allow for any grey area whatsoever. another oscar nominated film last year, brokeback mountain is REALLY overrated. its a beautiful picture, but the story was horrible and not what it was cracked up to be at all. i dont think stanley kubrick is overrated. the cinematography in his films alone make them worth watching. in barry lyndon for instance, theres a scene where the only light they used was candlelight! thats nuts! he needed to use a special telephoto lens from nasa to do it. theres absolutely no depth of field in the shot, but the fact that they used just candles and no alternative light sources is amazing. that whole film looks really cool, even if it is ass boring.

Best Mashups
borntohula replied to Crusader's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
i used to have a few good mashups on here. i have two favorites though, a mashup of "god put a smile on your face" by coldplay and "love you to" by the beatles. the second is called "pure freaky" and is a mashup of "pure morning" by placebo and that freaky song by missy eliot that i dont know the actual name of. you know what im talking about. it works really well. if i can find either, i will definitely share em. -

The Mountain Goats
borntohula replied to goingtogeorgia's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
i have. its alright. if you're someone who really cares about lyrics, then id suggest giving him a listen, but otherwise, i dont think the mountain goats are all that special. -
theres so much time in between each album that they're vastly different from one another, so yeah i definitely agree that its difficult to say one is better than the other. with other artists, its more clear because they release things more regularly.
