whats so bad about it? i didn't know that not liking a song required an explanation. but since you asked, everything? i don't like the way it sounds. it's fucking lame. it's worse than the worst song on with teeth. i just DON'T LIKE IT. i'm surprised that you like it, to be honest. i didnt mean it to sound as though i thought you needed to explain yourself, i was just wondering out of curiosity. my first impression of the song was that it sounded like something justin timberlake would do. the chorus sortof redeems it, but the more releases trent puts out, the more i realize that he isn't a very good lyricist. so yeah, i definitely detect the lameness factor you see. i'm not in love with the song, but i liked the fact that it was off-putting and not something that i had expected. also, its noisy, so for me at least, that makes it better than 2/3's of that "with teeth" record. im looking forward to the album, i think at that point, ill be able to determine if this song is really all that lame or not. i find the whole "year zero" concept the most annoying part about this whole thing.

yeah, that one and "give the mule what he wants" are awesome. but the whole album is quite good....

he was solo, as in just him and a guitar. he played a bunch of solo acoustic dates in 2006 to promote revelations a little, seeing as how he didn't want to do an actual promotional tour with the band. the copy i have was recorded in sweden. it has just occurred to me that i don't have the song on this computer, so i'll have to upload it later tonight. as far as i know, chris isn't working with alain or natasha from eleven any more... that should make for an interesting direction for this new album to take.

i have a live version of the billie jean cover if you want it... i think its quite good.

its no leak, its on their myspace page. i tried real hard to care about all those viral websites, but it just seemed like one big advertisement to me, and i'm going to buy the album anyways, so i dont really care that much.

start a new thread, none of your bickering has to do with NIN. "my violent heart" is pretty good. i was kindof taken aback by it at first, but it didn't take long for me to appreciate the noise.

gravity fuckin licked it though, and turner was still the guitarist. don't go blaming bob rock, either. the producer certainly has an effect on the outcome of an album, but not to the extent that they can really ruin it. that is, if the band is actually good, they can still shine through shoddy production. OLP were carried by arnold lanni's production, and it shows. because it certainly was never raine maida's songwriting. AIE?

TV on the Radio - "Poppy"

hahahaha, nail on the head, anton. someone mentionned earlier that matt and OLP should get along because OLP like to do charity work.... i laughed really hard at that one. although im sure you could make the arguement that what raine and his wife do for warchild is really making a difference, it's also one of those charities/social organizations that are safe for celebrities to be a part of, and therefore, useless. they look nice for PR right around record-release time, but aside from that, you never really hear about it. and i dont see how raine doing a shitty cover of "imagine" and then slapping it on a compilation with other horrible covers really makes a difference, or can be seen as "doing one's part". the problem with those NGOs is that they don't address the real problems at hand. they're just fancy-looking. much like "make poverty history," campaign... you'd think if they wanted to make poverty history, that they'd make mention of capitalism somewhere in there... nope. apparently we can live in a world where the economy is based upon exploitation, and still be able to eliminate poverty. so, i think if matt were to be judging raine simply on his charity work, then he would see him in a similar light to bono, and that is, as a puppet.

i got the venetian snares one and it was pretty good. a little blip bloop bloopy for something that i could listen to often, but that doesnt mean i didnt like it. downloading the love album as we speak. arthur lee was quite the songwriter.

so i got it and my first impression has been quite positive. when i've got time, i'll write a better revue. to me, its like think tank era blur, with less dance and more groove.

i didnt really like it. either it recommended bands i already listen to or tried listenning to, or it recommended these very obscure and not very good bands. lastfm's recommendations are more actually based on your tastes... not just one band you listen to.
