  1. I'll be at the New York show, as usual. Can't wait... 4 out of the 5 times I've seen Matt it's been acoustic, so these full band shows are definitely something special for me. I'm kinda sorta hoping he takes a couple of his more recent acoustic renditions and figures out a full band arrangement for them. Something we haven't heard in a while. How amazed and fucking amped up with the fans be if he played full band Strange Days, or Suburbia, or RABBITS? I'm pretty sure those haven't been played with a full band for a LONG time...and Rabbits never. Just a thought/wish/dream
  2. 2 shows for me in one year! Awesome! I'll be at the October 10th show.
  3. No it is Acoustic, but I think it's one of only a handful of performances of Truffle Pigs ever. I think actually during the show he said he's only played it one other time.
  4. You're welcome! Doesn't look like a lot of people are clicking through on this thread. I hope everyone downloads it! The performances are really good...plus Truffle Pigs!
  5. Hey everyone. So here's the link to download my Bootleg from the NYC show at Joe's Pub on May 14th. http://www.khakain.c...ub(5_14_13).zip I edited out pretty much all of the banter, save for a couple of moments right before songs. You might hear Lance tuning guitars on some tracks, or the rumbling of the subway underneath the venue from time to time. Let me know what you think. Enjoy.
  6. New York City hasn't been able to consistently support a rock/alternate rock station that doesn't play Pink Floyd and the Beatles all day for years. 2 have died out in the past 2 years. We currently have none. I mean, this is a city with 8 million fucking people and we can't keep a good alt rock station alive. It's SAD.
  7. Oh yes I've listened to the extended single. I remembered that they went live on Monday and got my phone and streamed them in my crappy hotel room in Raleigh, North Carolina. After the first listen I was definitely surprised, but then after a few more listens I was down with it. Feels very "Summery" but it's too bad that the album will come out in Fall. You know it's funny, even though you could argue the tone of the subject matter of these songs, we don't often get stuff this "upbeat" from Matt Good so in that sense it is rather refreshing. I know that a good bit of WLR&RR is kind of upbeat, but that is probably my least listened to Matt Good album. Not sure why, but I feel like based on the single, Arrows of Desire will get more play.
  8. Here I was thinking I was gonna be cool posting my bootleg with guns of carolina next week.
  9. I've been working on my bootleg. The official setlist was: Truffle Pigs Born Losers Strange Days While We Were Hunting Rabbits Metal Airplanes Load Me Up Suburbia Alert Status Red How It Goes Tripoli Apparitions Advertising On Police Cars Sort Of A Protest Song Generation X-Wing Guns Of Carolina I'm going away on a trip tomorrow, but I'll see if I can post a zip file next week.
  10. What do they mean by extended single? Is "We're Long Gone" a b-side or are they releasing 2 singles at once?
  11. To the best of my recollection: Truffle Pigs Born Losers Strange Days While We Were Hunting Rabbits Metal Airplanes Load Me Up Suburbia Tripoli How It Goes Alert Status Red Apparitions Advertising On Police Cars Sort of a Protest Song Generation X-Wing Unknown New Song Some of the ordering might be off. This was a great show, and I heard 2 songs that I never heard live before...those being Truffle Pigs and Sort of a Protest Song. Actually he said that was one of only like 2 or 3 times he has actually played Truffle Pigs live, so that was awesome. I actually recorded the whole show on my Zoom 3 mic so I have to go through and edit the songs into individual tracks. The show was over 2 hours and I'm pretty sure 45 minutes of that was banter, so I'm probably gonna just stick the banter somewhere for a rainy day...the songs take priority :P Also a funny thing that happened...I walked into the venue and held the door extra long for this guy who was coming in. I was standing in the lobby waiting and so was everyone else, but we were kinda facing each other at a distance, me and this guy, and I made eye contact and just looked away. Then they lined everyone up and I ended up behind him, then we showed our tickets...and we had tickets right next to each other near the stage. So we go and sit down and after about 10 seconds he says, "You know, I was wondering what the odds were that I was gonna sit next to this guy." and I said, "I thought the EXACT same thing!" Hilarious. Anyway like I said awesome show, one of the better ones I've seen. The venue was awesome, a lot different than all the general admission places. I think it works well with an acoustic performance though.
  12. Subways are everywhere. Just refer to this trusty map: http://www.mta.info/maps/submap.html Can't help with any parking advice. I don't have a car.
  13. I will be there. I'm from Queens originally so I've been to all his NYC shows since 2008. I almost forgot it was coming up this week. I already have my ticket though. I don't eat a lot down in that area of the city, but if you're feeling limber you could trek to St. Mark's Place or Bleecker Street. There's plenty of places on those two strips. Also just a couple of stops away south on the 6 train is La Esquina on Kenmare Street. It's one of my favorite restaurants in the city. If you like Mexican food you can't go wrong.
  14. No Native Son?! What a gyp!
  15. http://www.joespub.c...emid,40/id,6697 Nice!!! Totally unexpected. Will I be seeing any of you fine people there?
  16. Saw Hey Ocean! here in New York last night. They really kick ass. I got turned onto them a couple of years ago by my friend who lives in Lethbridge. High energy and fun.
  17. I've just kind of been discovering a lot of new music since last summer. That was partly due to this awesome radio station that started up here in New York last July and then died in November. They were playing some awesome stuff that I never heard before. I can't believe it took me all these years to start listening to Jeff Buckley. Holy fucking shit was he amazing. Anyway, I've been in a Matt Good funk yeah, but when I go through those funks, the one album that I still consistently play is Last of the Ghetto Astronauts...which of course he famously hates. Go figure.
  18. Oh yeah. I knew that. Then I forgot about it. I haven't listened to a lot of Matt Good lately to be honest. I guess I'm kinda rusty. Been "expanding my horizons". But I'll be happy to get a new MG album in September. I'm sure it'll be great.
  19. Is this his first self-produced album?
  20. I yelled out a few comments during the first Matt Good acoustic show I ever went to, but they were song requests, plus they were songs that he had been playing on that tour, plus they were in between songs and not during. I flew up from NY to Buffalo to see that show and I was so effing excited you wouldn't believe. I don't know that I should feel sorry for that...I've seen him positively engage people who have yelled out in the same manor. The show I saw last year in NY when he was sick, I'm pretty sure he instigated most of the banter anyway. I wouldn't ever consider yelling out during a song, especially a quiet song or during a quiet moment. Those people definitely suck.
  21. He's been known to shit on some of his old songs before. As he said in Life at Massey Hall, "You look back after 10 years and wonder, 'What the fuck was I thinking?'" I kinda do the same thing with some of the songs that I've written. They just get to be so far behind you, like in a different part of your life, that you can't relate to them as much and then there's a disconnect. Or Maybe Matt just thinks some of his songs suck? lol...I think that he truly does.
  22. Kinda funny that he didn't include Oh Be Joyful and Big City Life as "exceptions" there.
  23. The clips are sounding more upbeat and a bit faster in tempo. I've felt several of his songs over the past few years have been a little too slow, so this is a nice change of pace. I'm excited. Can't wait to have the album.
  24. Yeah. He doesn't even need to perform in them. A video can literally be anything and it'll still make the rounds throughout the Internet if the music's good.
