Yes that is something I really love about LOTGA. The organ adds a lot to Native Son and The War Is Over. I just love how...vintage the album sounds (relatively speaking).

LOTGA might be my most listened to MGB album, oddly enough. I love the sound of that album. I used to listen to it the most in college, but I still play it very frequently. I absolutely love She's Got A New Disguise, Native Son, Vermilion, Every Name is My Name, and The War Is Over/Omissions of the Omen.

Agreed. It's just about remembering the victims as well as the heroes. It's just the right thing to do.

It could still be possible that they're working on live recordings while on tour, as the OP suggested. Maybe not, we'll see. I'm sure we won't hear about anything for a good while. Matt Good probably won't say anything about recordings or a new album until well after a US leg of the tour. LOES is still settling in, after all.

I was in my junior year of high school, sitting in my Earth Science class when it happened...they made an announcement on the PA and kids ran downstairs to find out about their parents. Some got good news and some did not. My father and brother had to walk home across the bridges...it was such a terrifying day. I was truly afraid something else would happen later that night. 10 years later it's something that I still think about often and still get sensitive about when I see footage. It makes me feel awful to think about it. After all, I have always lived in New York City and it is my home...and to see it like that is truly horrible. I am thankful nothing of that magnitude has happened since then...but I am always prepared if it does. I don't believe in any conspiracy theories. I just believe what I saw that day. God it sucked. As for the "America love-in"...uh...ok.

I don't know anything about the title. I just think about summers 9 or 10 years ago when I was listening to it over and over and over...on my CD player. Unfortunately I've always owned the U.S. version which has an alternate tracklist (Load Me Up, Hello Time Bomb, Deep Six, Everything is Automatic, and Strange Days are all slightly edited - the first 4 to sound heavier). I got my hands on the real tracklist later on, but I originally got used to it with like, Apparitions and Deep Six. Oh well. Still great.

Was it edited at all? I'm kinda curious how a radio-edit of that would sound. -
Good Bands With Shitty Singers

I disagree with that. I think Chris Martin's vocals fit the music. I like it. To each his own. -
That's cool! It's pretty dark as far as photos to draw go...but the final product came out great. I always liked that album cover because, much like the album itself, it was just him. Bare bones...Totally worked for me. Made sure to get it signed at the last show I was at ;)

Agh! The only city that really works for me is Toronto, but those dates are a no-go for me. I'll have to wait/hope for a US leg of the tour again.

I would take out Empty and put in Rabbits...thinking about either Last Parade or Boy Who Could Explode for a Vancouver rep

In terms of solo I would say it's between Avalanche and Hospital Music for me. Avalanche probably takes the cake because there are just so many quintessential songs on there imo... I don't know where I'd rank LOES yet. -
Meh, once that guy started singing that was it. I am not a fan of this kind of singing at all...

I find myself changing the volume often on the album...like I can't hear the vocals unless I turn my Ipod all the way up. The vocals almost do seem secondary a lot on this album. -

After a couple more listens I would agree with that. Great ending. It's refreshing that he had other people do more of the backing vocals this time. -

I really just enjoy how different it is. I think, like Matt said, that this was an album he needed to make. If I had any criticisms I would say maybe Non Populus could have been better served as the closer, and the transitions between songs sometimes are a bit jarring. These are really minor. I can't wait to play the shit out of this album. -

Lights of Endangered Species came in the mail today. I closed the door of my bedroom and finally listened to it all the way through without interruption. I had only heard In A Place of Lesser Men before this. I think this is an awesome album. I do not think there is too much brass. I think it fits the theme, the sound that he was going for throughout. This album must be listened to in context to everything else he's ever done. It stands as a worthy progression. I got such a chill, such goosebumps from Non Populus. It's easily one of his best songs ever. I'm not sure what else to say right now. I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the layers of sound I just heard! It was incredible! I have to listen to it more obviously. Kickass, Mr. Good. -
Well thanks to this strike, I'm on week 3 waiting for Lights of Endangered Species. Maple Music told me it will "hopefully" get here by the end of this week. Oy.
-
Welp they lost and there's fire! You'd think they'd learn there lesson after 17 years.
-
INTENSE! Nice. I thought it was just played like, in between a face-off or something. Rooting for Boston. My uncle is a big Bruins fan. I became a Rangers fan when I was 9 years old and they beat Vancouver ;) I heard that Boston has more Canadians than Vancouver's team. Don't know if that's true, but kinda funny yes.

Thanks bud. It is funny that there would be a strike NOW. But maybe the CD got out of Canada before the strike happened...haha. -

I had in my head that the first time I wanted to listen to it was when the CD arrived in my mailbox and when I could put my headphones on and shut the door zone out for 50 minutes. It's been tough reading all the positive reviews and having to wait. I'm very excited to get it...but I will stick by my initial plan! I DID listen to the single when it was released and I downloaded the bonus track. I felt like I was entitled to that much. But yeah, I'm gonna wait it out for that moment. -

Another day passes, another day Lights of Endangered Species is not in my mailbox. The suspense is killin' me. Damn you Maple Music and Canadian Postal Strike.
