I don't know that I've heard him diss any of his solo work. Well, just a few tracks on Avalanche because he thought it was too long. Most of the stuff he dislikes is from the early days of MGB, which ironically is some of my favorite stuff. LOTGA is probably my favorite MGB album.

Small consolation for having the US tour canceled. Doesn't beat the real thing, but I'll take it. Thanks team MG.

Gee so glad the US tour was canceled! :| The show I bought tickets for would have been this Thursday...sigh.

Jeff Buckley
Gomo replied to here is no why's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I have discovered Jeff Buckley over the past year and I am slowly becoming obsessed. He had the most incredible ability to convey just about every emotion through his vocals. Grace has quickly shot up to be among my favorite albums...Lover, You Should've Come Over is without a doubt my favorite song from it. I'm trying to learn it on the guitar. To me, it's the greatest song about love lost ever written. The lyrics in that song, it truly blows me away that he pretty much sums it up so perfectly - and sings it so perfectly. I bought Sketches...waiting for it to come in the mail. I also looked up Live at sin-e....the samples I've heard have been amazing. It intrigues me even more because I found out that this was a club in NYC...and anything NYC centric usually gets me interested. Listened to a few of his father's songs too...the whole Buckley story just seems fascinating. Both had so much talent, and both died so very young...I'm interested in learning more about them. -
Yeah I actually had one of my best running days recently while listening to AoD yesterday. I'm not a great runner or anything, but I was definitely pumped up. Also one thing I'm really starting to appreciate more with each listen is the keyboards. It adds so much to these songs. Man, really sad that the US tour was canceled. I'd be so pumped for that NY show if it were still going down. I wish I could make it up to Canada this Fall, but it is very unlikely. <_<

It's official: Arrows of Desire is a good album for running.

10 songs about 40 minutes is a good length for an album, I think. The more I listen to it I have to agree, Garden of Knives is awesome. The build up toward the end is goosebumps-inducing.
-
Letters in Wartime reminds me a little of Change of Season. I also hear a little bit of The Rat Who Would Be King in the middle of this album.
-
Interesting tidbit: When I popped the CD into my computer to rip it to itunes, the artist came up as Matthew Good Band for every song. Artist and Album Artist for each track had Matthew Good Band in its tags. I changed it to Matthew Good. Anybody else notice this? Seems like a weird goof. Ok after first listen: Fucking awesome. Best album since Hospital Music. So, so happy that I have this. Since everyone's doing song rankings...here's mine after first listen: 1. Via Dolorosa 2. Mutineering 3. Guns of Carolina 4. Garden of Knives 5. Letters in Wartime 6. So Close 7. Hey Hell Heaven 8. Arrows of Desire 9. We're Long Gone 10. Had It Coming

Was pleasantly surprised to have my autographed copy arrive at my work desk early this morning :D Will wait until I get home to cue it up.
-
My order shipped today...since I'm in the US I couldn't stream on Deezer. I'll have to wait til next week to hear the whole thing :\
-
Oh ok. I'm in New York City. I also chose the slowest shipping possible because even that was already $11. S'all good. I can wait.
-
I did the same thing and I'm in the US, but nothing for me today. The site says they don't start shipping the pre-order items until the day they're released.
-
I remember when LOES was released I had ordered it from Maple Music. I was waiting until the album arrived to listen because I literally hadn't heard anything other than the first single. Problem was there was some kind of postal strike in Canada and it delayed the delivery of my package for about a month. So I kept reading all the positive comments on this board while waiting an extra month for the album to finally get to me. Hopefully there will not be a strike this time
-
The same offer is available on MapleMusic.com *Edit: Oops, the order on MatthewGood.org is fulfilled on MapleMusic anyway.
-
MapleMusic.com has autographed copies of the album for the first 200 pre-orders. I believe I got one. I could have spent less and ordered the CD on Amazon.com but I figured what the hell. I didn't get the LOES signed copy and I was kinda bummed about that. I know you could say that it's not as special as having him sign it in person, which is partly true, but I can bring a different album instead in case I ever meet him after a show again in the future. S'all good.

Sad I won't be seeing any shows this Fall...but curious to see the setlists. Anyone go to the Buffalo show?
-
I didn't listen to anything before LOES so I decided to listen to the samples for Arrows. Sounded pretty good. Very different from LOES. I'm definitely looking forward to the album. Mutineering sounded kind of like vintage Matt Good...like something that could have been on Underdogs, Beautiful Midnight or Audio of Being.

I fucking love Yes. Seriously, I grew up with them as my father and brother would play them all the time. They're like an old friend to me. I know it's probably an error of some kind, but a Matthew Good/Yes combo would be amazing. LOL :)
-
I don't drive so I'd have to fly to Buffalo, and that's Labor Day weekend and I'll probably be doing something else, so it sounds like going to another show this year is out. Oh well. At least I got the Acoustic show in April, but fuck, 4 out of 5 I've been to have been acoustic. Full band is pretty special and it sounds like if I ever want to see another one I'll have to be going to Canada to do it. At least next time I'll be able to plan accordingly. This time it was just a cluster fuck.
-
Crowdsurge just emailed me announcing the cancellation and that I'll be refunded. I'd much rather be going to the concert. :colbert:
-
So incredibly disappointed. I have to look into getting a refund now. If this tour were any other time of the year I'd consider flying to Canada, but I work at a school and Fall is very busy. Shit.

That review was pretty mean. "Plump and comfortable" ???? What?

I bought a ticket to the NY show during the pre-sale and I was also prompted to pick up a ticket the day of the event at the venue. I'm not really a fan of that system. If I'm buying a ticket months in advance, just mail me a damn ticket stub that I can bring to the show. Having to pick it up is silly.
