Cash's cover rapes MG's 5 ways sideways & upsidedown. Although i love the NIN version i think Cash's version is even better. I can just feel the real pain & emotion in his voice from all the shit he's been through in his life.

The Arcade Fire
Moonlight_Graham replied to Hyphnip's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I just saw Arcade Fire play on Saturday Night Live last weekend, and they were awesome! I never really heard them before. They played "Intervention" from their new album, it was amazing. Downloaded the whole album & its pretty great. Will have to check out some of their older album. And can i say this: THANK FUCKING GOD I FINALLY FOUND A GREAT MODERN BAND, AND THAT THEY DON'T WEAR FUCKING STUPID BLACK EYE-LINER!!!! FUCK. BLACK. EYE-LINER. BANDS. -
Losing Custody Of Overfed Children
Moonlight_Graham replied to HoboFactory's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
if parents are doing something that is hurting a childs' health ( ie: are feeding their kid so much crappy food that they are severely obese) then i think there needs to be some intervention. Its in the best interests of the child. -

Quotes From A Peaceful Islam
Moonlight_Graham replied to heyrabbit's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
yes. And in my personal opinion, its not God's failure to ease the suffering of all the poor people in Africa & around the world, its ours. Lets all have our Xbox 360's & plasma TV's & fat bellies & let God sort out all that yucky stuff so we don't have to worry about it. -
Quotes From A Peaceful Islam
Moonlight_Graham replied to heyrabbit's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
hobo, to put things in context, heyrabbit's thread here is in large part a response to a conversation we were having in another thread. He said he'd find some quotes for me about violence in the Koran, but i guess he just decided to make it a thread of its own. So this isn't just an out-of-the-blue "why Islam sucks" thread. Oh and heyrabbit thanks for the quotes, interesting. On a seperate note, just to jump in on this argument u & hobo are having, overall i find it very ironic that you preach anger, disrespect, and intolerance (though in-direct & non-violent) towards those with different beliefs than you. We, the God-believers, are irrational & dillusional in our beliefs & it seems your hope is that we all convert to athieism or agnosticism or something that isn't believing in aliens. Don't u find that incredibly ironic & contradictory? You are acting like "white-man" sailing toward the shores of North America, "enlightening" the heathen natives on their stupid beliefs & showing them the "truth". -
CBC News: Should It Even Exist?
Moonlight_Graham replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
wow interesting results. Im the only person so far who thinks government run news is a bad idea. Yes every news corp. has its bias, but news coming from a government corp. goes through an entirely different filter. I happen to like watching "The National" & i think CBC news does a pretty decent job, but thats completely beside the point. Oh and Matt there's a difference between Canadian content like Mr. Dressup & Degrassi vs the news. Not talking about getting rid of the other non-news programs. -
For those not familiar, the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp.) is a popular governent-run/funded media company in Canada that broadcasts television & radio channels in Canada, plus internet etc. They have their own national news program on TV plus local news, internet news websites, and talk-radio stations. Not to mention a CNN-style 24h tv news channel The question is, should the CBC even run news at all? They are funded by the government, so there is a conflict of interest there. Its generally regarded by many that the CBC has somewhat of a Liberal bias ("Liberal" as in the "Liberal Party of Canada", who had control of gov't of Canada for the last 13 years until last year when the Conservative Party won). Do u want TV/radio/internet news that is funded & owned by the government? Should the CBC just stick to entertaiment programs etc.? I say CBC news should be scrapped, i don't like the idea.
-
u should watch it. Yes its about the discovery of alien life, but is strongly based on an overall theme of science vs religion. Deals with delusions & much of what we're talking about here.
-
i fear nanotechnology & the microscopic flying robots that will enter my ear & sever a major artery in my brain.
-
Believing in God or Jesus is delusional only in your point of view. Most people disagree with you. I'm sure you'd argue that most people are then dillusional. There have been many brilliant, rational people who were are relgious. Einstein, Isaac Newton etc. I don't think believing in God makes one less capable of making rational decisions. Ok i don't want to start this again. Just wondering if you've ever read the book or seen the movie 'Contact', written by Carl Sagan (an agnostic)?

Yes we know the Islamists are killing in the name of Allah(God). We know that, all the terrorists say it. But i was saying we should ask "why" as in what are WE doing to provoke them to kill in the name of God. If we listen, we know why. Bin Laden said in interviews before 9/11 that he was planning attacks on the west because of the attacks & occupation the west had committed against Muslims in the middle-east. I'm no expert of the Koran, but if it does say for Muslims to use violence then that is interesting, because you also here other Muslims claim that Islam is a peaceful religion & that suicide is condemned in their religion. These are the people they call Islamic fundamentalists, or "extremists". And from what i know Islamic fundamentalism is less widely accepted than Islamic philosophies/movements that take the Koran less literally. There obviously must be contradictions in the Koran because if the actions of the west strongly call for a Holy War against us then you'd think most of the Muslim world would be taking up arms, instead of just a relatively small minority. You are painting a very large group of people with one brush stroke, & one that is frankly incorrect IMO. I guess you would consider myself a relgious moderate, & i wanted Kerry to win in 2004. I know some friends in the U.S. who are Christian moderates & they also voted for Kerry. My sister is a Christian moderate who attends church every Sunday & she is a consistent supporter of the NDP. Its very easily possible to believe in God/Jesus with a moderate view of the Bible, and also lean to the left on the political spectrum. In fact one could easily argue that socialism & communism are very Christian-like political philosophies. You need to get off this "moderates are to blame for everything" kick. Fundamentalists flew into the WTC, fundamentalists orchestrated the invasion of Iraq, and fundamenalists sent 2000 Canadian troops into Afghanistan. I'm not saying fundies are the root of all evil either, but just re-examine your attitudes.

Are You Ready For This Jelly?
Moonlight_Graham replied to Monochrome Rainbow's topic in Open Discussion
this is a pointless poll isn't it? Jelly Belly's are like gourmet jelly beans! How can u compare them?!? Its like asking if u like frozen grocery-store pizza's better than Pizza Hut. -
Juanpe, my condolences to you & your countrymen. This could very easily have happened in Canada so i totally empathize with your people. I can't blame Islam for this, at least not the entire religion. I keep hearing most Islamists denouncing what these terrorists are doing, that they are extremists & that Islam does not support violence or suicide. But obviously some part of Islam is teaching these people something different. At the very least we must try to understand/empathize with these terrorists & figure out exactly WHY they are doing what they're doing, instead of just simply marching into their homelands & start the carpet-bombings. I saw a recent documentary made jointly made by PBS "Frontline" & the CBC's "The Fifth Estate" about the terrorists that were stopped here in Ontario, Canada a year or so ago. The RCMP planted a mole inside the training camps, & he was a Muslim. This guy said that he could have very well been involved with the terrorist activity rather than trying to help stop it if he had simply hung around with the wrong crowd. Scary stuff. These young muslims grow up entirely in Canada yet their loyalties lie with their Muslim people back in the middle-east rather than with the country they were raised in. Makes u wonder how many muslims we should be letting into western democratic countries in the 1st place? Its a shame because it ruins everything for all te good muslims out there.

Well the reviews are in, rottentomatoes.com says this movie sucks. rated 25% "fresh", so basically 75% of reviews gave it thumbs down. Can't say i'm suprised at all, the trailers looked lame. Nic Cage is lame. I might check it out when it comes out on DVD (that is to say, i'll download it free) but this looks like a superhero movie along the lines of Fantastic Four/Hulk/Daredevil/Punisher etc. than something wicked like Batman Begins or Spider-Man.

wow can't believe its been that many, but 2 seaons per year & i guess it adds up! No not watching it this year at all. Used to almost watch every show for every season until last season when i just got tired of it. Its just stale, same old crapola, nothing new. They don't even switch locale terrain any more. Like before they went to Austrailia & Africa, now every show is on a tropical island somewhere but they just pick different tropical islands around the world. DUMB!!!!!!!
