If Palestine was never a country, then what was it between end of WWI and after WWII when the British gave the land to Israel? I suppose it was just a British colony under British rule? Anyways, what is obviously needed is a 2-state solution. But even then, you would see rogue peeps on both sides striking each other because they think the other should be off "their" land. Honestly, i wish we could go back in time and have given Israel their own state. It has brought democracy & a western ally to the middle-east, but little else other than violence. In 1947 & prior with the whole zionist movement i don't know why a nation like Jews should feel they have a right to have their own country. I see their point, its where they were before, but is it fair to kick other people off the land? Sometimes i just think maybe Israel should just pack up and leave, maybe the U.S. can give them Alaska, or Canada can give them the Yukon or something LOL. I'm sure a ton of Jews would never leave though, they want to keep their holy land & i can understand that. I'm just glad i live in Canada and not where Shiri is, that would be scary.

Re: Chrono Trigger. i tried to get into that game on SNES emulators. i guess i missed playing it back when it came out. I can't get into it, the battle system is just kind of annoying, and the graphics & sound are, well...dated. It must have been amazing back when it came out though. Reminds me, i'm still working through Super Metroid for SNES. Easily one my top 5 or so games of all-time. Hated the metroid games as a kid but now love them. Only played Marvel Alliance at a friends house for like 5 minutes. It was ok. I like the title of the MUA 2. Its called "Marvel Ultimate Alliance: Fusion". Isn't that kind of derivitive? They already have an alliance that is of ultimate proportions, must we fuse them? is that even possible? these are things i think about lol....

I can;t read this thread because of spoilers. I've had the Watchmen comic trade paperback (its not a fucking "graphic novel") sitting in my comic collection for about 6 years unread (shame on me, i know, but i sorta stopped reading comics not long after i bought it cuz i moved away from my local comic shop). But with the movie coming out i've just started reading the Watchmen comic collection so i'll have it done before the movie comes out and before all the trailers that will have spoilers and shit.

I'm trying to play: Star Trek: The Next Generation - "A Final Unity" Thanks, i googled it and will be trying the installation method. This whole DOSBox thing is a bit complicated and annoying. Oh well. To all: As for games, i've also been playing: - Gears of War 2 - I love the Horde online mode - Lord of the Rings: Conquest (demo for 360) - cool And as for Final Fantasy, i HATE RPG's with random battles, they are so annoying, which is pretty much all FF games minus XI and XII. I haven't tried 12 but would like to. The best RPG of all-time is Crono Cross for PS1. Its like Final Fantasy without the random battles. You mean X-Men Legends? I played X-Men Legends 2 recently. Its pretty cool, but it got boring after i reached the 3rd world. I loved customizing my X-Men dream-team and playing around with their costumes.

That's why i think they shouldn't use ground troops at all in urban environments, at least not to initially engage the enemy. They should be using remotetly controlled man-less equipment, vehicles, small air vehicles that can fire or remotely detonate. And much more robotics. Sounds expensive, and humans are cheap so it may be a long time before they would want to use that. Its just hilarious to be that the U.S. has complete air and naval superiority over these small countries of rag-tag fighters, but the trillions spent on stealth bombers and apache aircraft aren't translated into urban fighting technology. Scenario: remotely controlled flying bot zooms through the streets at night, silently slices open a window, enters building, identifies peeps as the enemy and opens fire.

Hey, 1 question. I'm following the setup tutorial for DOSBox, but how do you get a game running if i can't install it on my HDD in the 1st place? Tutorial tells me to install the game on my HDD then run it with DOSBox, but I tried to install my game but the game says my files/buffers are inadequate so it won't install.

I don't think there is a side to support. Its just two groups at war. What if Hamas or Gaza was its own country and fired rockets into Israel? Then it would just be a war like any other. But since Hamas and other "terrorist" groups aren't defined under the traditional defintion of a nation-state and are more or less rogue military group and fight using different tactics, they are stated as "terrorists", yet the goals of military warfare are mostly the same by all. I think both sides should be shamed. And in terms of military tactics & technology, the U.S. and most other countries are still fighting wars like its 1945. Tanks, planes, bombs, and lots of ground troops rushing into the slaughter. A little technological creativity by a power like the U.S. could make a war like Iraq or Afghanistan go supremely better. Massive resource advantage, yet can barely hold its ground against guerilla warriors. For the world's sake i'm grateful the U.S. and other countries haven't figured it out yet.

These bus drivers are DICKS!! if you are an OC bus driver and you're reading this YOU'RE A DICKFACE!!! i don't use the bus right now, but i know there are many people who are living in poverty in Ottawa and need the bus to get to food banks and other services. These people don't have cars. I feel for the single-mother of 3 who's living off a welfare cheque. I feel for the old lady who's got the flu but can't get to a doctor to get it checked. FUCK YOU BUS DRIVERS!! $25+ for driving a bus, plus whatever benefits i'm sure you get. YOU. DRIVE. A. FUCKING. BUS.!!!!!!!! Yet you're getting paid like someone who spent years in university/college to acquire skills. IMO, public buses should be deemed an essential service by the city and therefore union strikes should be unlawful. Either that, or make the busing a private enterprise to get rid of the union.

Peeps saying this thread is late, LOL why not start it yourselves. FUCKERS I GOTTA DO EVERYTHIGN ROUND HERE?!?!?!? Anyways, i agree the response by Israel is disgustingly unproportional. 4 deaths vs 400+ ? This is not the way to get Israelis and Palistinians/Arabs to come together. I just look at the anomosity (sp?) between french and english Canadians & they can't get along over a fucking language, i don't know if the Israeli/Palistine conflict will ever find much peace.

Help Me Buy A Laptop
Moonlight_Graham replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Tech Section: A Hard Drive at Risk
Thanks everyone so far, helpful stuff. My sis had a Toshiba laptop like 8 years ago, it crapped out on her. I just think laptops are not the most stable pieces of electronics. I rarely hear of a desktop crapping out. Please keep the advice coming... -
Is it safe for me to assume this is going to be a full-album release, and not the EP originally intended?

Ok, my parents want a PC laptop. I am computer literate but have never owned a laptop & don't know as much about them as i do desktops. My parents just need the PC laptop (no Mac's!) so they can check email, pay bills online, browse the web etc. I also want this thing to be a bit future-proof as they will likely own this thing for many years to come (my dad is still typing away on his decade-old Pentium II 450 mhz PC lol). They also want it for when they go on vacations & can check email & pay bills while they are away at hotels or whatever. I'm trying to get something pretty cheap like $450-$550 since they don't need a fancy system. questions: - Are there any brands to stay away from? Right now i'm looking at a Toshiba, but are discount brands like Acer or emachines total crap or will they do for my parents needs? - right now all our PC's in the house are hooked into a wired (read again: "wired") router. Is it possible to hook up a wireless router along with the wired router with just our one modem? - WTF is the difference between wireless N and wireless G? All my stuff is wired so i know jack shit about wireless - Right now i'm looking at systems with 2.0 Ghz PCU and 1000 GB RAM, i assume this should be enough for the foreseeable future? - My mom has so-so vision so i can't get one of those small ass 9" screens. would a 15.4" screen be good, that seems like the average they sell? - laptops seem to come pre-installed with Windows Vista. Can i somehow install XP onto the laptop instead, since Vista is a system hog & will just confuse my computer-illiterate parents anyways? Is there anything else i should know about buying a PC laptop? I'm being careful here because it will be ME who will have to troubleshoot the damn thing whenever there is a hardware/software problem etc.

Anton, i just only read this thread now for some reason! I will try to help out sometime in the near future.

Unless you want Blu-Ray, go with the Xbox 360. There is really little reason to go with a PS3 over 360 unless Blu-Ray is big for you, or you are would kill for one of their exclusive games like Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet, or Ratchet & Clank etc. 360 is simply cheaper, has much better online, and more exclusive quality games (and more games overall), and if you live in the U.S. you get full Netflix integration (if you have a Netlfix account you can download your movies onto your 360 for free instead of the snail-mail crap). Your girlfriend would probably love Viva Pinata for 360, my sister loves it and pretty much anyone i know who plays it loves it for its casual fun & cuteness. 360 also has exclusives like Halo 3, Gears of War 2, Mass Effect, Fable 2, Dead Rising, Braid etc. and virtually every game that isn't published by Sony will make it onto the 360 also, but with better online. Final Fantasy XIII is even coming to 360. I'd go with the Xbox 360 Premium for $299. You get the 60GB HDD and HDMI port. For $100 more the Elite only gives you a 120GB HDD (who the hell needs more than a 60 GB??) and includes an HDMI cable for free. Note though that if you only have wi-fi in your home you'll have to fork out another $100 for a 360 network adapter no matter which version of the 360 you get. I wouldn't worry much about the 360 vs PS3 outlasting each other in the future. The PS2 had a massive console sales lead last gen over the Xbox so is has lasted much longer. This gen the 360 is more popular than the PS3 so i would see them both supporting their consoles for many years to come.

Moonlight_Graham replied to Goudie's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
i love Band of Horses! To discover new music i go to AOL Radio where you can play tons of different types of music for free. I listen to the "Brand New Indie" station and have found countless great new bands i've never heard before. Its gold!! -
Best Of 2008
Moonlight_Graham replied to Shiri's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I really liked Load. It was very different than everything before it, but a great album. Reload mostly sucked ass. St. Anger i thought had some great lyrics, but was a mediocre album for sure. Death Magnetic is definatetly a throwback to the old days. Very good album. I just bought the whole album for Guitar Hero: World Tour. Wooo!! If anyone likes Metallica or metal in general, check out the album "Shogun" by Trivium. One of my fav albums of 2008. "Kirisute Gomen" is a kickass track.
