I was reading your post and was kind of glazing over...and then I read "...buy that house in kits..." and then I decided to pay more attention XD What's HPB? Basically, this is how it's going to go down, she's going to use the money she gets from selling the rental home, to straight up buy the apartment. Then Kevin and I will move in there and pay rent to my mum, whatever she chooses (she's doing this because apparently she hates how much I'm paying for rent right now, and wants me to live in a good apartment for less. She'll probably charge us somewhere around the realm of $1250/mo). Then, many years down the line, when she's ready for grandkids, she'll give us the apartment, so we can own something, and have better chances at a real house... So I guess you're pretty much on the money.
-
Aww damnit. I'dve loved to take that apartment off your hands. If you have any other suggestions, let me know too! And re: line of credit Yeah, I actually thought of that. I have a lot of RRSPs too, and I offered to use them or a line of credit to help boost the number, but my mum won't let me, she says she doesn't want to let me have that much debt :/ No way I could convince her otherwise.

Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
Muran replied to alex_madf3rit's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Has anyone seen the video for Stylo? Now all I can think of when I hear it, is Bruce Willis being his usual badass self. Also, I cannot stop listening to Superfast Jellyfish. I'm really impressed with this album. It's got a distinct style that I've come to expect from Gorillaz, but it's very current with what's popular right now. -
So, my mum has decided that she wants to sell the house she rents out in Richmond, so she can buy an apartment downtown, to rent to Kevin and I, which she will eventually give to us. She says I can pick any apartment I want, as long as I stick to $350 000. This came out of no where today. WTF O.o I'm overwhelmed. And I have no idea what to do, because the apartment building that I'm living in now (which I love), isn't selling anything decent under 400 :/ Still though. How fucking awesome is that?

What Graphic Novels Are You Reading?
Muran replied to Muran's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
I absolutely love how the animated series was practically the first volume and the 1st half of the 2nd volume, verbatim. Really awesome. I'm just into the 2nd volume and I'm so amazed that Sam Kieth thought it wasn't that great. The ideas and concept was amazing. -

I'm actually quite fond of Sam Kieth's art style, and sort of dark storylines. You guys keep talking about Sandman, perhaps it will be my next comic. -

My friend bought me all the TPBs of The Maxx, for my birthday. I think I just about died. He also got me another one of Sam Kieth's works, "My Inner Bimbo". I got a lot of new reading to do! ;) -

oops, I thought the term graphic novel and TPB was interchangeable. My bad! I'm still a comic n00b. It's been manga since forever, for me... -

I agree about Watchmen. I forgot to add Arkham Asylum! That one blew my mind. Absolutely amazing. Tripped me the fuck out. I also forgot to add Bone. Kevin owns a lot of Transformers comics, including All Hail Megatron. I tried really hard to read them, but they're just not my bag :/ -
So, for the past year, I've been really getting into graphic novels. I think it started with Watchmen. There are a good number of geeks on this forum, so please, share with me what comics you guys are into! I'm always looking for something new to read. So far, I've read/Am reading: Marvel Fairy Tales Grimm Fairy Tales Watchmen The Killing Joke The Dark Knight Returns The Sentry Astonishing X-Men (But just the Joss Whedon story) The Ultimates Marvels Ultimate Spider-Man Fables Scott Pilgrim The Walking Dead The Dark Tower Mouse Guard Nightmare & Fairy Tales I'm currently in the process of collected Fables, Mouse Guard and The Walking Dead. It kills me having to wait months for each Walking Dead trade to come out. I have never really been into zombies at all, but The Walking Dead is intense. Less about zombies, and more about extreme survival/coping tactics. I'm really surprised at how much I enjoyed Ultimates as well, as I've always identified as a "Marvel" girl, and never had much interest in Captain America or the Avengers in general. But wow. Captain America is pretty badass. Looking forward to the new Avengers movie, although I should really watch Iron Man :/ I'm excited that Scott Pilgrim the movie is going to be released in August, but at the same time, I think Michael Cera is going to make a horrible Scott Pilgrim. But at least the final volume will be released shortly before...

That totally made me lol. C'mon. he even sort of looks like Cloud...Who rides BAHAMUT. Man, when the two of them meet for the very first time, my friend and I totally started singing "Colours of the Wind" quietly in our seats XD
-
Dude, Owen, please tell me you were making Lifestream jokes in your head, because I totally was XD Along with Fern Gully jokes and Pocahontas jokes.

You know how my friends stopped me from smoking the first time? They kept stealing my pack of cigarettes and dropping them in the toilet. I got sick of having to buy a new pack. You know how my friends stopped me from smoking, the second time (years later)? They stole my cigarette case, threw out the cigarettes, and filled it with joints, and told me they'd rather supply me with joints periodically, than have me smoke cigarettes. My friends are bizarre, but sweet.

Well, it's starting to get to the point, where Kevin and I are getting impatient, waiting for the other to get off the computer, so we can use it, and we have no room in our apartment, to have two desktops. Our ideal set up is to get a new desktop and laptop, but desktops are much more than laptops, so I thought I'd get the laptop out of the way, and let Kevin nurse the old desktop >.> I'm surprised you had so many problems with that macbook. Did you not have any warranty or anything? I heard Apple products have really good customer service and support? Argh, all you guys seem really keen on non-Macs, so now I'm confused again.
-
Wow, I didn't realise there were replies here, I hadn't read. I went to Future Shop, and I was kind of keen on getting an Opened box, Macbook. I was told by other friends that if I wanted a laptop that had great longevity, and awesome support, and I'm not looking to customize to the max, a macbook is the way to go. I might talk to Kevin about what he thinks about that Mac Mini, it looked cool on the website, but like I said, I'm an idiot when it comes to buying computer things...
-
"Secretary" is one of those "close to my heart" movies...
-
Man, I didn't even realise I mispelled "laptop" in the most epic fail way possible. Anyway, I'm not exactly the most knowledgeable about parts picking and stuff. I know PCs are so much more customizable. I just wouldn't know where to start.
-
I'm looking for opinions on what we should do here. Kevin and I are looking to either buy a new desktop, or get two laptops and share our files over a network. Which do you guys think is better? Kev and I pretty much only use our craptacular desktop for surfing, maybe watching movies and playing music. We're also debating whether we should make the switch over to Mac. I like Macs, but Kev's not really too comfortable with them. We're not gamers, and I'd personally like to be under a grand if possible. Price-point is a big thing here, because I'll most likely be footing the bill.

I've seen him at least 4 times that I can think of off the top of my head.

Bleh. That's so annoying. I hate it, because I do enjoy his music. I just hate knowing what a tool he is >.<

I was Asian Gaga: The disco stick took me a couple hours to make, but it's so awesome! I'm excited to bring it to the concert in December. And a Princess for work: The Zombie is Jason, for those who actually wonder what he looks like.
