  1. It reduces the musician to a jingle writer. Jingle, coincidentially, is the sound of coins in ones pocket.
  2. I'd say that that's definitly the best live song.
  3. A few weeks ago, Alice Cooper said that rock musicians who speak about politics are traitors to rock n'roll, but he often appears in commercials and lets his songs be used in them. I think that if he were a small, indie artist that no one's ever heard of and is struggling to get by, then he should be able to sell his music if it will help pay the rent on the apartment for the next few months. I don't think, however, that a succesful artist like Tom Petty or Bruce Springsteen should be selling themselves and their music to large corporations because they don't need the money and it reduces them to jingle writers, and I think it makes them look greedy and trivializes the music. What do you think? Is selling songs for corporate commercial purposes anathema to rock?
  4. 1) Truffle Pigs 2) Omissions of the Omen 3) Workers Sing A Song Of Mass Production 4) Double Life 5) Antipop 6) Little Terror
  5. No. 10 refers to the Prime Minister's residence, so that's why I think it could be insinuated that Blair is trying to distance himself from Bush.
  6. 1) In Love With A Bad Idea 2) Jenni's Song 3) Poor Man's Gray 4) While We Were Hunting Rabbits 5) Look Happy, It's The End Of The World 6) Buffalo Seven
  7. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uselections2004/...1294572,00.html Now the Republicans will eat 'Freedom Muffins' and speak 'Freedomish'!
  8. I'm not too crazy about Auf der Maur either, but I'd still dish out the money to see Matt and Limblifter.
  9. http://www.matthewgood.org/web/news/ This looks awesome.
  10. I guess it's just a matter of fat cat businessmen who don't want to relenquish their grip on the government and society.
  11. Haha. Poor Paul Martin. His hopes for what could have been the biggest Liberal majority ever vanished as soon as the sponsorship scandal broke loose. Oh well, as long as Harper didn't get in, I'm ok. All things considered, Martin probably is the best candidate to be PM. Jack Layton...such an excellent record in Toronto...way to stick it to the man!
  12. Does anyone know of any good Afro-beat groups/musicians? I downloaded some Antibalas and Fela Kuti, and damn is it awesome. It's got a great beat and cool melodies, too, like a jazzier or funkier Bob Marley. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
  13. Isn't that what Jack Layton wants the Martin Liberals do impose if they ever want the NDP's support?
  14. I think it should be like that here in Canada, too.
  15. Oh God. You can smell the hypocrisy rising. http://www.bakersfield.com/columnist/local...p-4975095c.html Register as bakersfieldisreally and password oklahoma.
  16. "How do you plan on helping the hurricane victims?" "Giving them some advice: Move!" I just thought of Tornado Alley. I wouldn't live there. That's like me living on Rapeanerd Lane. "Oh God, not again!" "Hey! You read the sign.." That's terrible, yes, but arguably I couldn't help myself.
  17. Thanks. I guess that would be why the vocals don't sound like Layne Staley's.
  18. I've only seen him live once, but I've got to say that 'Blue Skies Over Bad Lands' is totally awesome done live. When he was talking about the America's Army video game and the 'safety guarder' guy or whatever it was called was pretty funny too. 'Can't Get Shot In The Back If You Don't Run' when he talked about the arms trade, and 'Empty Road' with a full backing band were pretty good, too. I also loved the energy of 'In Love With A Bad Idead' and 'Put Out Your Lights'. 'Hello Time Bomb' was when he stopped to yell at the moshers....
  19. He was watching the frisbees. Thank God none of them got near the stage. It might have been Regina all over again.
