Favourite MG(B) Song
While we were Hunting Rabbits
-
I usually play all of the song in standard tuning, even if it says they are tuned a half step down. I'm a chick so I usually capo matt's songs on th hird fret for singing reasons. Some easy ones are - Tripoli - Running for Home - Can't Get Shot www.mgtabarchive.com I don't know if anyone has posted this link yet

Well, I didn't know that Matt didn't want avalanche out there. I also didn't know that a video was such a hot commodity and that my subject would be a tease. Sorry! I have seen a few vids but he did Avalanche first a lot on the tour with all the sparkley lights so the videos aren't that good. But I know that at one of the acoustic shows I saw (can't remember which) he played it further into the set. Oh well.

Does anyone have a good video (or a link to one) of Avalanche acoustic? I am trying to learn it on guitar and I want to see how he plays it. Can't seem to find a good one on you tube. Thanks!

Single Line Of An Mg Song That Just Stands Out

I think in truffle pigs it's supposed to sound like a pig call even though he sayd "to eat shit" I always thought in running for home it was "nothing left for a demon" instead of "nothing left redeeming" and i'm pretty sure I was singing some kind of jibberish for "dirty enough like I feel love" untill I heard it live

I think that Matt has the kind of career then one can only hope for. He was really popular for a while and made all his money and established his name etc . . . but now he gets to play the best venues (which I think are the smaller ones, not stadiums)and because he hasn't had a huge radio hit in a while, he is playing to an audience of mostly genuine fans and not just 'timebombers' as you guys put it. I think that he is doing what he wants to right now and that is all you can hope to do as a musician.

lyrics are a tough one for a tatoo. I have another artists' lyrics on my ankle but they have a pretty universal meaning by which I mean you can interpret them in different ways

I think most of the time the context in which matt uses animal referances makes sense and is a common use like "asleep with the fishes" But I read an interview once where someone asked him why he used the color pink (pink bunny suite, pink in the eighties, pink pill) so often and his reply was "I also use the word 'and' a lot" so maybe we are looking into it too much

OK so everyone is talking about how their bands can play matt good covers for a recorded project but what about a live tribute? I have a venue in Vancouver if anyone is interested. We are looking to do theme nights in August. We are the house band once a week and can pretty much do whatever we want so lets start a discussion and let me know if you are interested.

He was nominated for something for Avalanche and didn't go so I doubt he will be there this time. I remember Avril beat him in one category and she was like "Matt Good is awesome and I'm so flattered to be in his category" or something. The only good thing to ever come out of her mouth

I think we're looking too much into it. First of all remember artistic license. And the fact that this song could be a group of different but realated thoughts from matt that came together. I agree that it is about fear and that the robot heart is the unfeeling heart but clearly the fireman is not litteral and almost any song is not meant to interpreted line by line.

I met him at the airport (where I work)in Vancouver. I was out smoking on company time and we saw him and said hi and he was so cool. He talked about the tour and what songs he was going to play and why he wouldn't play certain ones (this was the day before the first show of the solo tour by the way)and even talked a little about what was happening in his personal life which shocked me. Then after spending ten minutes trying not to be a dork, I took a photo with him and then we parted ways. It was really great.

Ok guys, people don't really scan barcodes at bars. If they think that it is fake they will either deny you or take it away. But anyway, my first MG show at rhe commodore I was underage but I ahd the best fake ID and I lost it. Anyway after spazing for a while, my friend and I just walked right in like we owned the place and no one asked me for ID. Maybe it was a miracle but it's worht a try. And just as an exclaimer I was also kicked out of the Misfits concert the previous year for having shitty ID but good luck!
