  1. I said 'Hello Time Bomb', but now that I think about it, 'Alabama Motel Room' fits the best with the lyrics.
  2. I think their new song sounds a bit like a System Of A Down song, which stands to reason. They said that their fourth album was going to have a more metal feel to it, which'll be pretty cool I'm sure.
  3. 'Summer of the Shark' by Portastatic is a great indie rock album, the lead singer is also from Superchunk (another great indie group).
  4. I was just thinking that 'Four Minute Mile' probably isn't on WLR&RR because it eventually became 'Expats of the Blue Mountain Symphony Orchestra'. The guitar and drum parts are both similar. Just a thought.
  5. We need another Vietnam! That'll thin their ranks a little ;)
  6. Yeah, they had an excellent chemistry with each other as a band that I don't think can be surpassed.
  7. I think an acoustic EP is very probable sometime in the future. It makes sense, what with his new musical direction and all.
  8. While I really respect Matt for all his work, I think that we should all take some time to educate ourselves on issues first so that we just don't follow blindly (no matter how much we agree). Read a newspaper or a 'Time' or Macleans' magazine, watch the news once in a while and don't just rely on celebrities to give us our opinions (even though I'd love to go see Rock Against Bush).
  9. I would have chosen 'A Boy And His Machine Gun', but since it wasn't there, I went with 'Apparitions'.
  10. 'Hopeless' all the way.
  11. 'Ashes Of American Flags' - Wilco
  12. I didn't get really into it until I bought 'Audio Of Being'. I was just a casual fan who thought it was neat if I saw a video on Muchmusic. I bout 'AoB', and put it away for about 6 months, and listened to it again and couldn't put it away.
  13. 1) Load Me Up 2) Everything Is Automatic 3) Haven't Slept In Years 4) Prime Time Deliverance 5) A Boy And His Machine Gun 6) Fated
  14. I just heard it on Power 97...in case anyone is interested...
  15. It's supposed to be a rock opera, just like 'Tommy'. Cdnow.com has it listed as 21 songs. This is funny: from cdnow.com
  16. 1) The Rat Who Would Be King 2) Suburbia 3) Sort Of A Protest Song 4) Tripoli 5) Avalanche 6) Running For Home
  17. When I heard it, the intro was different, but there was still a lead.
  18. Well, hopefully you can see the point I'm trying to make. I was reading some rightwing blogs and they were ridiculing Chretien for not getting rid of the GST. I stand corrected on the whole Mulroney thing. On McGuinty, again, thanks for correcting me. Again, I hope you can see my point, where he has to mess around with taxes to fix the financial system somewhat.
  19. It's not too different. In the Lo-fi version, there's no orchestra and it doesn't cut off at the end.
  20. That's a neat idea. I bet it would look really good played out. The only problem with most of the songs mentioned here are that they're too long for radio. The average radio single is only 3 and half minutes long. I'd like to see 'A Boy And His Machine Gun' made into a video, or War Child using 'Blue Skies Over Bad Lands' like they did on the version of 'Knocking On Heavens Door' by Avril Lavigne.
  21. Chretien's Liberals had the majority of Parliament for all 3 of his terms. The first time they left the incumbent Conservative Party with only 2 seats. I really don't think that most leftwing governments would ever privatize state-run companies (although I think BC Ferries used to be publicly owned). Manitoba Hydro and MTS were both privatized under Manitoba's previous Conservative leadership. I know that a lot of the recent Liberal and NDP governments have come under a lot of flak for not being able to lower taxes or cut GST, but that's mainly because of the deficit left to them by the previous government. In Ontario, Ernie Eves' Conservative government hid a multi-billion dollar deficit from the Liberal Dalton McGuinty, who promised to cut taxes, but when he won and had an audit done on Ontario's finances, that's when he discovered the huge debt, and therefore can't cut taxes. It's the same story here in Manitoba. Our NDP premier Gary Doer came into office unknowingly facing another huge debt left to him by Gary Filmon, the incumbent Conservative. Then in 1993 when Chretien won the federal election, he wanted to cut our GST introduced by the Brian Mulrooney Conservatives but couldn't because of the massive debt they left. True, there's bad eggs in every government, but Chretien's Liberals had some stars. Pierre Pettigrew was an excellent Minister of Industry, and helped defeat unfair tariffs imposed on Canadian wheat and softwood lumber by the US. Lloyd Axworthy was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 1996 for putting forth the Ottawa Treaty, banning landmines. For his efforts in establishing the International Criminal Court and the Protocol on child soldiers, he received the North-South Institute's Peace Award. When Paul Martin was Finance Minister, even though I now consider him a vindictive prick (what he did to Sheila Copps was despicable), he managed to erase the national debt and get us into a surplus. Under the Liberal leadership, Canada managed to remain together by keeping Quebec in Confederation. They're working on the advancement of gay rights and education (they want at least 50% of all high school graduates to be fully bilingual). That all said, I truly think that there's a difference between having a large majority government and a corrupt one.
  22. Edwards would probably be a better candidate for president than Kerry. He's smart, charming, good looking (it's strictly Platonic), positive, and a helluva debater. I'm gonna love seeing him wipe the floor with Cheney. Then again, Al Gore was supposed to be a super hardcore debater, and he arguably lost all three of his debates against Bush in 2000. Or Wesley Clark vs. Bush debating national security. A friggin' four star general, Rhodes Scholar, West Point grad, war hero, former Supreme Commander of NATO forces. Damn that would be awesome to watch a national security debate between those two. Too bad about the Howard Dean scream...
  23. Keith Moon, John Bonham, Billy Murcia...
