I agree that this song is beautiful because of its simplicity. Just Matt's voice and a guitar and the raw emotion in his voice just gets me everytime. I once read a quote from Matt talking about this song. He said something about how he went in and just did it and he was "flat all over it" but that's just the way it is. The fact that the song isn't perfect, makes it perfect. Know what I mean?

Hot Hot Heat
loveisnotenough replied to ok_go_570's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I've discovered lots of good bands because they were the openers. The other band that was opening for Hot Hot Heat was not so good though. I don't remember what they were called but they were all skinny guys dressed in pink and had a drummer/bass player (don't ask) and a singer/keyboardist as well as a guitarist. Then there was this other guy who just danced around on stage...I was like Hello? Pick up an instrument and help out buddy! -

Well, Spiritofeden, I haven't seen Incubus live nor am I a huge fan but I really like their music and I don't find it boring at all. As for "trying to hard" I agree wiht you badseed, that makes no sense. Unless you're talking about Christina Aguilera trying to fit 15 different note changes into a 5 second span. Now THAT'S trying to hard! As for albums I just bought: Fiona Apple - Tidal and Hail to the Thief - Radiohead -
Hot Hot Heat

But I didn't pay to see Hot Hot Heat. I wanted to see Metric, who was opening and they were worth my money so I left! -
Sigur Ros

I just finished listening to Untitled #1. I love that song, but what are the lyrics? Are they in a different language or can I just not understand them? Anybody know? -
Everything I thought about putting on here was pretty much said already. But I don't think anyone mentioned in "The Fine Art of Falling Apart" when he says: You see I used to think I'd get over everything, but everything just got over me... Because its so true! That line is like my life, I swear.

Hmmm, all you fans will think I'm crazy 'cause I went to one of their concerts before to see the opening band and then I left when they came on! Its not that I don't like them, I just have never actually sat down and given them a chance. Maybe I should though... -
I put that one as my new background. One day I'm going to learn myself some photoshop so I can make my own wallpapers, but for now I just use other people's that I find on the net. This is my old one: http://freedville.homeip.net/camojester/Im...theworld800.jpg

Another song they played was "Iris" by the goo goo dolls. That song doesn't feel that old to me...I actually read an article called "Its too early to be remebering the 90's" which is kind of true. Much should wait a little longer before they start reminiscing about stuff that happened not even 10 years ago. Oh and Mr.Chips, no I didn't see the ending, I had to go back to work. I can't beleive they cut that part. Its the best!

I was just at home for lunch and I was flipping past much music and there was this program called So 90's on. I am not sure what the premise of the show is, whether the play videos that were big in the 90's or one's that they consider fads, but they were laying Apparitions. I found this a bit humourous since I still listen to Apparitions all the time and find that it (along with all other MG songs) have a timeless quality. But that's just my opinion. Oh ya, they also played Nsync, and how much more of a fad could there be when it comes to boy bands.

Sigur Ros
loveisnotenough replied to pearanoid's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Well, I'm glad for this thread because a while back I saw a Sigur Ros (what does that mean anyway?) video where there are a bunch of kids wearing radiation suits and they're all running around in a sort of desolate wasteland. The song is beautiful but I can't for the life of me remember what it is called. Help anyone? -
Wahoo, number 200 baby! And I'm the 12th highest poster!

Well...Buffy, Angel, Sex and the City (even though they are all over) CSI (the original), Everwood. There are probably others that I'm forgetting right now what wit it being summer reruns and all.

Looks very interesting...I've read reviews that say they try to hard to update a classic and to much of the stuff that made the origianl good are gone. But, I also read that Denzel is awesome. Not that I believe everything critiques say. I'm sure I'll like it, I pretty much like everything (movie wise at least)

Any Other Girl - Stabilo (anyone else like them?) -
I used to do really stupid stuff with my friend when we were 15 (it feels like ages ago, almost 7 years) Like go off with guys we didn't know (no not like that!) Just to parties and stuff, but it was so out of our leagues. Two small town girls partying with strangers from the big city. There were a few times we got into very bad situations. I don't think I did it because I thought I was indestructible, I guess I just didn't think. Now when I think about it I cringe at how stupid and careless I was. Makes me wonder if I'll be cringing about stuff I do now in another 7 years. Probably.

I've said it before (a hundred times) and I'll say it again 'the rat who would be king' is an amazing song. I love everything about it: lyrics, Matt's voice, the lead guitar, the mood it creates, I love it! (right juanpe?)

awww dan, I'm so honoured to be your hero...it brings a tear to my eye.

Dirty Dancing 2
loveisnotenough replied to running4home's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
Hmmm, now that others have said they actually like it I think I am going to watch it. Afterall, I love cheesy girl movies and anything to do with dancing. Hello, centre stage? That's one of my favorites! -
Hyphnip, I am in love with you. You are my new best buffy-watching friend. Oh, and by the way, it wasn't Joss who ended Buffy it was Sarah Michelle Gellar. I understand why from her point of view but it still sucks that its over. What did you think about the series finale? I liked it, although I'm not hard to please television-wise especially when it comes to Buffy because I think its all good. I just thought it was really fitting that Buffy didn't have to be the only slayer anymore and the burden was lifted from her shoulders, since that is what the whole show kind of centered on. And the final shot of someone asking her "So what are you going to do tommorow?" and she just smiled, that was perfection.

Mmmbop
loveisnotenough replied to Kumquat's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Ya I heard that Penny and Me song and thought it kinda sucked but who am I to judge - I like MMMBop when it first came out (in my defense I was still really young and totally uncool) -

Meaningful songs
loveisnotenough replied to Kumquat's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I am the same as everyone in that I have a billion songs that bring back memories/emotions but I am only going to say one song because I heard it yesterday and it made me want to cry. "Everything You Want" by Vertical Horizon. It was the first song me and my ex ever danced too back when we were young and innocent. Sniff. -
Covers
loveisnotenough replied to Kumquat's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Covers are only good if they bring something different to the table, such as turning a softer of more poppy sing into a rock song. I can't really think of my favorite right now, but I agree with Kumquat about Holly Mcnarland doing 'In the Air Tonight'. -
Best Front Man
loveisnotenough replied to Kumquat's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I think Matt goes with out saying so I'll pick Maynard James Keenan of Tool/APC but Robert Plant is great too (I would kill to have seen Zeppelin perform back in the day)
