  1. Ha, I read that and thought "Toronto Sun." Seriously, that paper pisses me off, if they could have their heads up George Bush's ass anymore, they'd be brushing their teeth together.
  2. For one thing, Matt was supposed to be in Europe for a month starting last week. Not to mention, I highly doubt that the CBC would consider approaching him, as he's not only out of the spotlight, but also prone to doing something highly offensive onstage. Besides, I wouldn't be surprised if he had the attitude that the rich people performing in the concert (like Celine Dion or Avril Lavigne) should donate some of their own money, instead of patting themselves on the back and singing.
  3. 21st century living. In the sense that it is most "charged", it really connects, moreso than north american for life.
  4. That's quite a charge, buddy. Typical Leftist remark from someone who is blind to the facts. Although the United States is far from perfect, I would question anyone's intellectual honesty who says it's a "dictatorship". Go and read more Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky. Yep, it is quite a leftist charge saying that the U.S. is better than a dictatorship.
  5. You have fun with that, then.
  6. In the CD jewel case. Here's something you might not have known: insert the avalanche cd so the window to open HOSAM comes up - then click on the top of the mountain. It turns into a picture of a raccoon.
  7. I agree. Since reading the last entry, I've been cringing. Poor guy.
  8. where in the fuck did you hear that bs? ... besides, most of the band members new each other when they started, and PLAYED INSTRUMENTS... how were they slated to be a "boy band".... they're not all singers... i'm sorry i don't mean to be a bitch but that's the biggest load of shit i've ever heard. I heard on the internet (so it must be true) that Chester originally tried out to be a member of nsync.
  9. Just download it from Amnesty... I doubt that there's any difference in quality. Universal might be wise to release a song that isn't available for free elsewhere.
  10. I'll jump the gun and guess the only song I know off Hail to the Thief - myxomatosis. It's possible.
  11. Yes, Canada's had a lot of success with our military, and our soldiers are perhaps the finest trained in the world, but our army isn't self-sufficient. We couldn't launch our own peacekeeping mission, no matter how badly we wanted to. I think it's going a bit far to say Canada ranks with the highest world powers, although we do have oil and water.
  12. I think music should fit, period. This "it fits into my age group" thing is nonsense... I've always said that good music is universal, that truly good music can always be felt by people, even if they dislike the style or the artist, no matter their age or whatever classification you can put them in. Either way, I'm not an LP fan... to be honest, I find them and their fans (well, the overly angsty girly ones, anyways) to be annoying and irritating.
  13. I'll join the band. I'll be the guitarrist that's with the band early on, but leaves sometime between the first and second CD. The hardcore fans will claim I was the true creative outlet, while the mass media will adore my replacement, because I was too much of a controlling asshole. Then I'll appear in some lousy second-rate movie a couple years down the road, a celebrity reality show, and get arrested. Then do a couple interviews talking about how my whole life isn't looking back at my fifteen minutes of fame. I've got it all planned out, as you can see.
  14. I'm hoping that some day, matt releases a huge box set full of demos, rarities, and b-sides... But that'll never happen. Too small of a fan base, I guess. (yes, this does mean I'll accept any demos you're willing to email to me)
  15. I first heard Hello Time Bomb on a compilation CD I am now ashamed to admit. When I picked up the CD a couple years after, I saw that Avalanche was going to be out in a couple of weeks... so I picked that up, and even though it was different from what I expected it to be, I was hooked.
  16. What are you basing that assertion on? Well, for one thing, there are very few politicians that are actually to the right of centre as far as social/economic issues go. Dennis Kucinich is the only one that comes to mind. But as far as "mainstream politics" goes, Kerry has relatively libearl views, pro-choice... he's from massachussetts, you know. There was a study done of members of the U.S. senate done awhile ago, and Kerry came out to being the fourth most Liberal... and how convenient I can't ven remember the name of the organization that did it.
  17. *ahem* Avalanche.
  18. hmm... I'll say it's doing something specifically for the money. For example, writing a song so it can be used in a commercial (justin timberlake), letting the record producers write your songs or change them to the point where it's not yours... stuff like that. I don't regard doing commercials for a product to be selling out, because when people get to that point, they've probably already sold out / been washed up for a while.
  19. Jet have got to be one of the most annoying bands out there, personality wise. They were the cover boys of guitar world a little while ago, and the were riffing off on how "people have always like crap music, and they always will", or "people who tap or solo really fast don't put any feeling into their music" like they weren't crap music or crap guitar players. Maybe they should re-evaluate their reasons for popularity before calling popular music 'crap'. Wait, back onto the Killers...
  20. wanna spend the rest the rest of ur life at a 8x6 cell at club fed??? 1st off it would be pretty impossible to take him hostage because u would probably never get near him 2nd. if u ever did get ur hands on him the cops would stormin the place faster then u can say onomatopeia. We'll track him down while he's in Europe. Just like he suggested in his blog.
  21. Speaking of clients of prostitutes, I was once at a model UN conference, and the keynote speaker there went out to India and posed as a prostitute to try and shut down a prostitution ring. The man who ended up propositioning her was the chairman of a multi-national corporation. It's really quite a sad thing, considering she wasn't even legal at the time.
  22. Can't Get Shot in the Back if You Don't Run. God, I love this song.
  23. Actually, John Kerry is one of the most liberal Senators in recent years, outdone only by Teddy Kennedy. But as far as the wide spectrum of politics goes, Kerry's still to the right of centre, although not a "conservative Democrat".
  24. My sister has their CD... maybe I should try giving it a listen.
