My advice to you: take public transit. Seriously. A friend of mine is going to be taking the GO train out to Sheridan college next year, and she lives more or less in the downtown core. You do not want to have to deal with the hell that is rush hour in Toronto, esp. considering you'll be navigating your way in and out of car-unfriendly downtown Toronto. Drive to and from the Hamilton GO Station if you have to, but driving in and out of Toronto every day is going to kill you, or someone else. Downtown driving is not for the weak of heart. You'll just have to pay the cost of monthly GO and TTC passes, not the cost of the lease, insurance, gas, and maintenance.

Like I said, as long as I win...
-
It's funny because I wasn't being entirely serious about Calgary sucking. But as long as I win, I'm happy.
-
I'm afraid I don't get what you might be hinting at.
-
But Calgary is the most efficient way to get there. Vancouver and Edmonton all take several hours longer, and it's more expensive to take a plane into Kamloops from Calgary than it is to bus it.

Pet Peeve: Idiots. Pet Peeve: People who resort to insults as a method of winning an argument Pet Peeve: Ignorance.

Except not quite... you can get to Halifax without stopping off in Toronto. Not so much with the BC Interior.
-
Well, absolutely. There's nothing worthwhile about an entire city whose purpose is to act as a segue between civilization and the B.C. Interior.
-
See, when I stopped in Calgary, it was as a means to switch over to a bus or rental car, not to another flight.

Pet peeve: People who've never had to grow up with their relatives speaking different languages, thus rendering them incapable of being tolerant of other people who do the same.
-
Why on earth would you do that, then? I will grant that everything outside of Toronto sucks, and Ontario is boring as hell to drive through.
-
But who stops in Toronto to get on the way to Halifax? Nobody, that's who.
-
What else do you expect me to do? If I can't hate something for poorly thought-out reasons, what can I do? Here's a not-so-bad argument: Calgary sucks... compared to the B.C. Interior. You've got no argument there. The few times I've been through Calgary it was as a stopover on my way into B.C.
-
"Good" reasons? Now you're just asking too much. When you've only spent a total of a few hours in Calgary (during which you were safely protected behind thick layers of glass), you learn to hate it because it's only a stopover for all your West coast vacationeering.
-
Perhaps. All I'm saying is that when all you can see in any direction is geographic sameness, there's something very wrong.
-
Why Calgary sucks: -flatter than the contents of a training bra -the downtown core is called "city centre" -you can see the downtown core from just about anywhere in the city, it's so flat -did I mention it's flat? -redneck conservatives galore -if you've ever had to wait in the airport or drive through it (like I have) you'll know you're prone to die of boredom. The only advantage to the flatness is that you can see the rockies. That's about it, really.
-
It still does, actually.
-
One word: don't.

Better: When you're skiing and you're stupid and put the pole in front of you and it pole vaults you into a flip.

Was this course taught at some whacky hippie school? Stick to real science. The Earth isn't a living organism, and it cannot raise its temperature or cause severe storms. If you go into the centre of the earth, you'll find a shitload of liquid rock, not organic matter.

Refer back to my previous post: Citizenship v. Heritage. It also plays back to genetics and the reason we're in this debate. Pavel said that the people who have that genetic immunity to AIDS are all white. From what I've heard, the people who have this immunity are European, and live in Europe. If your family ancestry is in Africa, you are genetically different (in a miniscule way) from Europeans. Moving to Europe will not give you the genetic structure of those people who have the genetic immunity to AIDS.
-
if they're french enough to play on the national side, they're french. and thus black europeans. There is a difference between citizenship and heritage. There are Poles playing for Germany, Canadians playing for England, Argentinians playing for Italy, and Brazilians playing for Japan. You're completely missing my point.
-
I don't believe a word of it. You stole that kid's bike, and your discouraging remarks are only proof!
-
God fucking damn you're an idiot. Obviously, the many black players on France's team are not French by ancestry. Their families are probably from the many African countries France colonized back in the day.
