I wouldn't be embarrassed if I knew at one time in my life I ROCKED like that. Haha. But I think of songs like Vancouver National Anthem, Fought to Fight it, Great Whales...hey he's still got it in him. The live Massey Hall album also had some hard rocking moments. I don't think that kind of enthusiasm ever comes out of an artist.

Interesting stuff. I didn't realize that IAWCC was such a success. I would have thought Weapon got more widespread play, but then I'm in America and I don't hear any of these songs on the radio. I'm not sure how big the Matt Good fanbase is these days but I get what he's saying about how a reunion would probably not be selling out arenas to a mass audience, and hence is probably not worth everybody's time to begin with. Obviously the hardcore fans would love it, but I'm sure we'll get along just fine with Matt Good solo tours.

Thank you. Great job. I'm very much looking forward to the New York show on March 7th. Let's hope this tour isn't the last of its kind... On the other hand, this will give me an excuse to make visits to Canada in the future. Haha. Life Beyond the Minimum Safe Distance has always been one of my favorite acoustic songs. Very curious to hear how Running for Home translates.

Nice to see someone else New York based on this board. Were you at the last two NY shows? 2008 acoustic and 2010 full band. For '08 I remember he was sick and cancelled a lot of the shows around that part of the tour, but he still went on in NY and it was great. There were not a lot of people there, though. The full band show was totally rocking. The Bowery Ballroom was packed that night and everyone was into it. He played a little bit of a longer set than he had been on that tour too.

Bought 2 tickets to the NY Mercury Lounge show. This will be my 4th time seeing Matt Good...hopefully he'll have the tour bus around after the concert. Last time I got Hospital Music signed. Not sure which album I'd bring if I got to meet him again. Maybe Avalanche.

The first solo acoustic Matt Good show I saw was in Buffalo, Oct. 2007. It was a very special night for me...it was the first MG show I'd ever been to. He was ON that night as well, and provided a kickass setlist. When I saw the full band for the first time in 2010 it was all kinds of awesome in a different way...i had the biggest smile on my face when they played X-Rated. I think I would say full band simply because the crowd gets into it just a bit more and you can't hear as much individual talking amongst them. ALTHOUGH venue plays a big part in the way the crowd reacts too. A sit down opera house might be more appropriate for a solo acoustic show...whereas a smaller general admission venue would be best for a full band. I'll stick with my vote either way.

Never been to Mercury Lounge. Thanks for the update. I'll be there!

I was at the Bowery Ballroom in 2010 for the full band show...it was awesome. Great venue...it was really taken down? :(
-
I doubt it, but I always kinda thought a "Rooms 2" would be a good idea. He would have plenty of material.
-
Amazing how even though a song can be very personal to you at some point, you can still forget the words/how to play it. That was very cool.

Matt Good's been saying he may play Running For Home towards the end of the Canadian tour... If someone's going to one of these last few shows...try and get a video/recording of it wouldja?! :)

Bright End of Nowhere, totally. I wish he'd bring that one back to his tours...

I've seen 2 acoustic shows and 1 full band show at this point. The first acoustic show was an amazing night in my life. The full band show was so great. I'm a little disappointed I won't get to hear Non Populus, but I guess I should be happy that he's doing a U.S. tour at all. I can only hope that I get to hear some rarities that I haven't heard before live! I do like the Bowery Ballroom a lot. Great venue for Matt.

In the videos I've watched I kinda thought the new guitarist was a bit sloppy in some parts of the new material. Also the guitar tone is not quite as warm as I expected it might be.
-
Do people really have to friggin' yell "shut up and play the guitar" to musicians on stage? Why would you tell an artist you are a fan of to shut up? Ok. I could understand if it was Billy Corgan, but come on. I'm sure the guy was drunk.

I missed that part of her post before... Sorry about your loss.

Good sound quality on those. Crowd seems lame. Rabbits is fascinating. The end got me. I love those lyrics. To hear him sing that live finally is amazing!
-
That's an amazing setlist.
-
Kinda funny that he isn't playing the single off the album, but it's probably one of the songs that most people would leave out if they had to choose.
-
Whoa. Well naturally he is going to be most critical of his own performance. I hope he doesn't scrap Non Populus! S'my favorite song on the tour!
-
I totally see how you could make that mistake ;)
-
I think my ideal setlist would consist of Non Populus being played 15 times in a row. Well maybe not, but man do I love that song. Sometimes I will turn my iPod all the way up and just replay the ending over and over. I'm gonna regret it when I'm old. Here's my shot at a "dream" setlist on the US tour from what he has be practicing with the band. I'll be seeing him in New York (hopefully ;) ): - - - - - Main Set - - - - - What If I Can't See The Stars, Mildred? How It Goes Zero Orchestra A Silent Army In The Trees It's Been A While Since I Was Your Man Shallow's Low Hello Time Bomb I'm A Window Volcanoes Last Parade Set Me On Fire Non Populus - - - - - Encore - - - - - Giant Hornets Bright End Of Nowhere (Acoustic) Fated (Acoustic) Lights of Endangered Species I left off some popular choices like Weapon, Born Losers, Load Me Up, etc. simply because I've heard them live already. This is a good mix for me consisting of songs that I did not hear on the previous tour + the new stuff.

That is pretty random. Funny though, I had avoided most of the demos up until the album came out, and then I gave Hornets a good listen to yesterday...and then later in the day I read he wants to add it to his setlists. Interesting. As far as I'm concerned if I get to hear Non Populus then I'd be an extremely happy man.
