Meh...hasn't been the best track record for Matt when he's toured here. Seems like we've had more than our fair share of idiots at his shows. I'd go regardless (Calgary or Saskatoon) - nice that the drive will be a bit shorter though. Less money on gas = more for merch :)
-
Lol we sure do! ;) Saves me the 6 hour drive to Calgary

Kicking myself because in the late '90's I worked at a radio station. And I grabbed precisely zero MGB singles. Dumb dumb dumb!

The older stuff sounds fantastic - LOTGA is definitely richer...the vinyl does it justice. PTD transitioning into The Inescpable Us is just....well...wow. Especially with a little bit of crackle and pop between the two songs :) Honestly - my least favourite of the vinyl releases is probably CN. And not because it's bad, it's just that the vinyl does so much more for the other albums. The vinyl standouts on CN are definitely the quieter songs - Cold Water, Los Alamos, Tiger By The Tail.

I actually didn't hear any of the CN demos and am now quite happy about that. I think the last demos I listened to pre-release were whatever batch Hornets was a part of....

Looks Like Vinyl Releases Of Back Catalog Are Coming

Listening to the vinyl right now and for the record (no pun intended) - the 2nd side of the 2nd record from BM is some of the best audio awesomeness ever made. The only thing that would make it better is if there were flames shooting out of my turntable right now. -

Any thoughts/rumours as to if/when the next batch of albums on vinyl may be coming? -

Hmmm...interesting. I don't have a video but if you look at this pic I took, you can actually see there's a physical line in the vinyl where the skipping happens.... -
Rip Prince

I've been depressed since Thursday about this. Before MG, Prince was my go-to. Sigh. -
I just found some old Much footage re: Edgefest on a videotape....I forgot how many awesome Canadian bands they had on tour, plus a few US big names like Green Day and the Foo Fighters. Amazing.

Great idea! FYI there are some CN tabs in one of these forums already....I'm sure I've seen Kid Down the Well and I think possibly Moment. My guitar skills are exceptionally meagre and are limited to a few basic chords, squinting at YouTube videos, and using my ear (which is better some days more than others). I had figured out that end-soloey thing for Kid Down The Well, as well as a few power chords for Girls In Black. Then I moved on to trying to figure out Boy Who Could Explode (LOVE that song)...can't quite figure out all of the chords but I think I'm close, and I've pretty much got the solo thing worked out. Have I written any of this down? No - because I'm an idiot, so every time I go to play them I have to figure them out again . Note to self: grab a pen & paper. So the first couple of times I played it, 99% didn't skip. Today...it did. Grrrr. -
Speaking of Edgefest (which is mentioned in that article), this reminds me of the last concert festival that MGB was scheduled to play at that I had tickets for....I believe it was called Screamfest and was going to be in Saskatoon. But it was to be the weekend right after September 11th happened. Obviously the concert was cancelled (as were many things in September 2001 after the 11th). I don't know if MGB played another show that fall before the band broke up....

Wow....thx for posting this. Suddenly transported back to my youth. Good times! (Aaaaaaand now I feel really old again!)

A couple of tours ago my wife and I took our son to an MG concert. He was young and bored out of his mind, he sat by the stage right next to the security guard for the last half of the show and Stu gave him his pick at the end:) So cool!!!

Pop is at about the 5:04 mark.....
-
Yes there IS a pop!!! Thank god I'm not losing my mind, I thought I was the only one who heard that :) Agreed on the PTD to Inescapable Us transition, it's great. And then how Inescapable fades quietly until Geoff's awesome Indestructible bass lick kicks in....

How about the Electric Light Orchestra "Don't Bring Me Down" drum intro to Rico? ;)
-
Same thing in Change of Season (a clicking sound)...

I've never been able to figure out what he says at the 1:17 mark of X-Rated other than "...let me go"....

I don't believe so, but I'm going to listen to the CD version to compare... -

I stand corrected - 99% DOES have a "pop" on my copy too. Doesn't skip or repeat, just a pop that really shouldn't be there. Maybe every single copy is like this.... -
Yep, he goes back towards Blake and puts his guitar down, puts the glasses back on and finished up with "here by my side..." Oh and stupid iTunes always splits BM into 2 albums so I end up having to create the album as a playlist.

"Look mom, no hands" at the end of Native Son. I wait the entire song for that line....instantly transports me back to my childhood riding my first bike down a gravel road on the farm....

That's why I like my Arrows thunderbird t-shirt....it's very subtle which makes it cool :)
