  1. Biggest regret? Not getting LOES and Avalanche on vinyl. And missing the acoustic tour from the early 2000’s.
  2. I get it. I finally get it now. It's taken a few listens but the whole album makes sense now. The fade-outs, the strings, the 80's sound of the guitars, everything. It's a bit of a departure - kind of like LOES which has now become one of my favourite albums after initially being put on the shelf for a bit. Well done Matt, Stu, Blake, Peter, Warne and everyone else. To have created something like this that will last forever is quite a feat. Matt - I hope you are able to make it through this difficult personal time. Your songs mean more to us fans than you'll ever know. Yes, there are the casual fans who just know the hit singles. But for the rest of us...those of us on The Bored...your music reaches deep inside of us. You've somehow been able to articulate through your music what each of us has felt day in and day out for so many years now. Something that we can't articulate. As I sit at home by myself on a dark, cold Sunday evening listening to this album over and over again, I don't feel alone. Somehow - buying your music and merch and going to your concerts just doesn't seem to be enough to repay you. I hope you know how much we all appreciate your artistry...and how your music has carried each of us through our own individual storms. One foot in front of the other...
  3. Finally found the CD @ Walmart yesterday...the only store in town that still sells CD's....
  4. Me too....I think I'm going to stop pre-buying songs from now on prior to an album release....
  5. Apparitions could get cut...wouldn't hurt my feelings....and I was SO happy to hear Rorschach the last go around. I wouldn't mind seeing LOES (the song) and Non Pop make a return.
  6. Maybe a pressing error....kinda like the missing Omissions of the Omen on the LOTGA vinyl ....oh wait that's not funny
  7. Not gonna lie....when I first starting skimming the tracks last night, not very much really "grabbed" me. But that's exactly the point - it's an "album". Matt is one of the rare artists who still writes albums - not singles. And it took me awhile to get into the new sound. Kinda like how "In A World Called Catastrophe" was such a departure from anything else he had released in the MGB days. "Something Like A Storm" is pure gold.....buried in the middle of the album where you have to mine for it. Like Non Populus and Garden of Knives and Girls in Black - if this were on a cassette it would be at the start of Side B where you'd have to work to get to it.....and then be blown away.
  8. That's exactly what I was thinking! So many of my 80's cassettes had songs that ended in fade-outs!
  9. I'm anxiously waiting for the "your album is ready to download" message from iTunes.....
  10. Stu is just absolutely killer. Last concert I got to watch him literally right next to the stage. Really really liking this current lineup of the band.
  11. That's EXACTLY what I thought....feels like it it should be right after Volcanoes.
  12. "Something Like A Storm" just downloaded from the iTunes Store....listening now...
  13. Very much agree with this post! Initially I wasn't a fan of Automatic, and it was Indestructible that became an earworm for me and forced me to buy the album . And when the Apparitions video debuted on Much....wow - just wow. Front to back it's a wonderful album with some real hidden gems. Sometimes I'll listen to Underdogs and LOTGA and I'll focus in solely on Geoff's riffs...the bass in the latter half of The War Is Over and the intro to Indestructible are amongst my favourites.
  14. I'm surprised that Top 10 "artist vs label" list doesn't include Prince vs Warner Bros. Heck - the guy changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol in order to get out of his contract and performed with the word "Slave" scrawled on his cheek.
  15. I've pre-ordered...that way I can get the download to my phone as soon as it's released without having to go to the store, by the CD, rip it to my computer, transfer to my phone, yada yada. (lazy much?) But I will also buy the CD too just to keep in the car. I still like having physical copies of music, and I don't mind supporting an artist I really enjoy (like Matt) by buying the same album 2 or 3 times (ie. vinyl). Heaven knows artists don't make a lot of money on their actual music nowadays...even less on an iTunes download compared to a CD sale...tours and merch sales is where it's at.
  16. Great tune, very haunting. Have an MP3 of it on an old hard drive somewhere....
  17. Well then....just ask Google and ye shall receive....thx!
  18. Crap....I totally forgot about the rest of the vinyl....(I purchased all of the first batch)
  19. Any word on when the new album might drop?
  20. Agree 100%! That's my favourite track so far!
  21. Wow - well done. That's even rarer than the "illegal" version I bought off of Steve Codling on eBay many years ago.....
  22. Agreed 100% :)
  23. If my memory serves me correctly it was announced that he left, then came back, then a couple days later left for good and the band was done. I know when I had tickets for that show I was curious to see if they'd be playing any new stuff from the upcoming AOB album.
  24. Was at this show in Saskatoon. That's when I realized MGB was the real deal. Show was canceled because 9/11 just happened. I had tickets to it and were refunded. Concert was to be called "Screamfest" and had a bunch of bands a la Edgest and OLP's Summersault tour of that era.
  25. Interesting...thx for the insight into the origins of the song!
