  1. Thx for posting Matt's response, Anton - always great to get insight into how much work actually goes into preparing for the tour. I don't think many of us can truly comprehend that (I know that I for one cannot). Always love hearing the newer stuff off of the most recent albums. Completely psyched that there's a chance LOES might make it on tour. That's one song that I wasn't a huge fan of until I saw it live - then it blew me away...particularly how it started out dark and then the lights and wall of music hit right at the "got my guns in a row" line. For the life of me wish I could find a video of this somewhere.....but alas....
  2. Really liking that Tiger by the Tail made the cut for this setlist, bummed that Moment and Girls in Black didn't. Hope they do for Calgary :) I too could do without ASR. Speaking of Load Me Up, I've recently fell in love again with the old live version featuring Christian Thor Valdsen's 'picking' lead guitar, and the song bridging into Gen X-Wing :)
  3. Yeah, my tickets are on the floor but several rows back. Will still be great though I'm sure. On Bones' side of the stage.
  4. Long time lurker, recent first time post-er. :) Been going to Matt's shows since I first saw MGB at Edgefest '99 in Saskatoon. I think there were only one or 2 tours I've missed....the acoustic tour from the early 2000's (which I'm still totally bummed about) and one other one possibly. RileyLewis - had I known, I would have helped you out!! Sorry..... I thought about that too....knowing the setlist in advance takes some of the shine off perhaps. That being said, seeing some fan videos earlier in the AOD tour gave me a sneak peek of Garden of Knives with that ridiculously awesome live intro, so I knew I had to have my camera ready to record that...so cool....
  5. On the AOD tour there was a show in Saskatoon so that was only a 2 1/2hr drive from where I live. But this isn't my first trip to Calgary....LOES tour show was also a Calgary drive for me to the Jack Singer Hall. Do what you gotta do ;)
  6. Oh wow....now that's one thing I've never even heard of. Methinks we have a new champion of 'rarest of the rare.'
  7. Unfortunately, no sound check. I'm making the 5 1/2 hr drive from Saskatchewan :) You'll by amazed by the passion Matt puts into his performance and his singing. No auto tune here, folks.
  8. Well then....this just upped the 'stoked' factor for this tour....can't wait for Calgary!!! :)
  9. Never thought about the AOB-like sound until you pointed it out...Lions almost sounds like it could follow Man of Action.
  10. The car in the video is a Porsche 911....looks to be an early to mid '80's model. Kicking myself for not realizing this years ago. Sweet car by the way, not nearly as much power as today's 911's but because of the way it is setup, it's still a blast to drive :)
  11. Speaking of which...in "Moment" I'm hearing "but mesmerized I fell too deep", not "memorized" as listed in the lyrics online....
  12. Here's an interesting article on the whole issue of vinyl backlog: http://www.theguardian.com/music/2015/sep/20/music-vinyl-records-new-pressing-plant-portland-oregon?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  13. Also the live version of Garden of Knives....lots of great keys in that song. And I think it's the Calgary Stampede show where he lights up a cigar midway through the song - classic! Also - wasn't it Anthony who did most of the work compiling/editing the live songs that were released during the AOD tour?
  14. Lol, that's the crazy part of getting older - not having enough time in the day and wondering what the hell you did with all of your time in your 20's :) Would be wonderful to have the vinyl whenever it comes. Re: CN - honestly, every song has become a favourite right now. Love the upbeat sound of No Liars, if I'm in a pissy mood then Girls in Black hits the spot, and if you decided to write every single future song like Tiger By The Tail - I'd be thrilled with that too. The whole 'playing an entire album live' concept would be fantastic....unless if you showed up to play the Raygun EP then walked off stage, I'd be choked lol :) Speaking of which...I found some early 2000's bootlegs of live shows on an old computer at home....that Gen X-Wing into Load Me Up live 1-2 punch is ridiculous - fell in love with it all over again!
  15. Harridan is growing on me...just like Mutineering and Fall of Man and several other gems buried away in the albums. Long after the singles have worn out their welcomes, I find myself skipping ahead to songs like these.....
  16. I noticed a little bit of app-crashing the other day, when I would attempt to link to the lyrics it would crash when trying to switch over to the website....
  17. Lol I'm almost in the same boat as you, finally got around to ordering the vinyl last night to go along with the CD and iTunes versions and the concert tickets. I better start socking away some cash for the vinyl back catalogue when it becomes available :)
  18. Those were the days!!! :)
  19. Thx for posting this, Matt. Always great to hear it from your perspective. I purposely don't listen to the demos, in fact I try not to listen to the songs released days in advance of the full album release just so I can have that "Christmas morning" feeling on release day. Years ago I worked at a radio station and I remember when the singles (in addition to the actual singles on CD) used to be streamed via satellite feed to radio stations, and that's how I first heard Hello Time Bomb....and I thought THAT was really cool to have HTB on cassette before anyone else :) Keep doing what you're doing - I've been buying your music, merchandise and concert tickets for 17 years and I can't see myself stopping anytime soon. In fact, I purchased a turntable today - so that I can collect and experience your music in a different format. Looking forward to seeing your show in Calgary!
  20. Remember the BM liner notes....how if you held it up to the light at a certain angle you could see parts of lyrics that were printed in a kinda "invisible ink" font (I don't know how else to describe it)?
  21. There's just something about having a hard copy of lyrics in liner notes. You should see my Underdogs, BM and Avalanche CD's lol. They've been "handled" many many many times. :)
  22. I bought tickets for Calgary for this very reason :)
  23. Crap...you just reminded me that I used to have the RCAF shirt too but it's gone now.....had to trash it.....
  24. I read in another post that the MM version came with a booklet with lyrics, but the poster corrected themselves (there is a booklet but no lyrics). So I'm happy once again with my store-bought copy :)
  25. Too much time watching MuchMusic and reading ChartAttack when I was younger
