Did anyone get the physical thing? Is there anything in the sleeve?

Milos is indeed somewhat boring to watch but so is Stu sometimes. But that's not what matters most. Their talent and versatility make up for their lack of showmanship. Blake is just awesome all around. Talented, versatile and you can see he's having fun. I hope Matt can afford to bring Anthony on tour too. Not just because he'd need some keyboards but also because I hope he doesn't sing Running For Home over playback.

Yeah there was that story floating around, it was supposed to be called "The Revisionist History Teacher" or something like that as I recall. I can't remember if it was just a thing going around or if there was any truth to it though. I was actually referring to a question someone had on Matt's official forum years ago (2010 maybe, I believe it was the M+). That person asked why he stopped working with Rich and he answered. But given it's no longer online, I'm not going to go into details and let Matt explain if he wants to. I was searching around the forum for the book thing and found an answer from Matt (from 2012) https://www.nearfantastica.com/bored/topic/13921-mgb-reunion-how-likely-is-this/?hl=rich&do=findComment&comment=400488

Ah I see! Thanks for the info! :)

mmm I highly doubt Rich would do it (who's Kelly?). Last I heard Matt and him didn't end on good terms. But of course, after 10 years, maybe that's all sorted out.

Was wondering the same this morning. My guess would be Milos.

Just heard the full version of Suburbia on Google Play Music. It's very good. I have a soft spot for the original version given it's always been one of my favourite songs from Matt but the new version is completely different. I like the new guitar pattern too!

Video concepts ideas I had in 1999 for Suburbia and Born To Kill

Thanks! ;) That is eerie! But I'm glad to see I'm not the only one! It's fun that these songs create images in our heads! :) -
Nooooo, I'm 100% sure Dave didn't write any lyric. He participated (more or less apparently) to writing the music. So it's either a mistake, Matt giving him some credit for legal reasons or there are some things we're not aware of.

Back when Beautiful Midnight came out, which is one of my favourite MG records ever, I used to listen to is all the time. I had a walkman (remember those?) on my head at all times except in class of course. I was ending high school and in that weird phase between being a teenager and an adult. I also used to go out quite late at night with my friends which proved to be the best time for listening to that record. Suburbia at 2 in the morning while you're by yourself in a small town riding a bike (yeah I didn't have my licence yet) was just an awesome feeling. Nevertheless, I came up with two ideas for videos that I thought would have been awesome had Matt had the money to make them (not that I think he would have taken ideas from fans :P). Suburbia: For that song, I imagined a POV type of video. At the beginning of the song, the character runs into his car, panicked, turns on the engine, struggling with his keys, looks into his rear-view mirror and, at the first symbal hit, he sees a huge ball of fire falls from the sky on his house. He then steps on the gas and drives away. Throughout the song, he sees people running from there to somewhere (someday, this place is gonna burn) and cars passing him by. Once in a while, he would look into his rear-view mirror again seeing other balls of fire fall from the sky at a hit of symbal. It's the apocalypse. Born To Kill: That one would also be a POV type of video. This time, we're seeing through the eyes of a man with glasses who spends his day preparing for something. During the filming you see "The Catcher in the Rye" (you see where this is going) and he visits the Dakota to get John Lennon's autograph. Then you see him go trough his day and, at the part where the orchestra goes mad, you see him go back to the Dakota at night and wait for Lennon's return. Then, right before the song cuts at the end, he approaches the car and a caption saying "Mr. Lennon?" and then blank when the song cuts. I've had these ideas for years and, since there's no way any of them would ever make it in a video, I thought I'd share those here! :)

Here's mine: Cold Water Harridan Army of Lions Tiger By The Tail Kid Down the Well Los Alamos Cloudbusting Moment All You Sons and Daughters Girls in Black No Liars I ALWAYS skip No Liars, I really really don't like it. Girls in Black is also a skipper but not systematically like No Liars.

Oh sure but knowing how he dislikes AOB I wish he'd re-record those as he would want them to be.
-
Although at first I was doubtful of the whole thing, I now disagree. It was another era and the BM tour was awesome but the songs themselves have a soul that can be revived with that kind of thing and I like that. I wish he would do the same with some of AOB which sadly has been burried under the band's conflicts.

So it's called "I Miss New Wave - Beautiful Midnight Revisited EP" and the tracks on it are: Suburbia I Miss New Wave Load Me Up Let’s Get It On Born To Kill Frankly I'm surprised to see that Load Me Up is there but not A Boy and his Machine Gun or Failing The Rorschach Test. Not complaining, just surprised :P

I can definitely hear some old U2 on there. Great song. I wish I was able to write such awesome lyrics. The images he comes up with are amazing.

Nah, not gonna my friend :P Matt's already given many example of how he and Dave are never gonna be in any kind of relationship, professional or personal, even again. If anything, I think the reedition of some of the songs was supposed not only to be for the fun of it but also acted as a kind of reheasal for them to learn them. That way the band could learn the songs Matt doesn't play (unlike Giant, Time Bomb, Strange Day, Load Me Up and The Future is X-Rated).

That quote sums it up perfectly! The Audio of Being has great songs and I actually like it. There are somes places where Dave's influence can be heard and makes the song great like Tripoli for example. But that's the best description I've seen of the record. I remember Matt wanted the whole credit situation to end already with that record. I was running the French mgb.com website and I had put the album description a bit before its release so, knowing which songs were going to be credited to the whole band, I just put the rest as "Good/Genn". I promptly got an email from Matt telling me to remove that and telling me when the real credits were. It had to be corrected of course given it was an official website but it's the way it was asked and how quickly I got that email that surprised me at the time. It's not like the French website was getting 1000 hits a day. So when he explained the situation publicly I wasn't surprised. The sound of the record also made sense then because we knew Matt was trying to go one way and Dave was going another way. To me it's the complete opposite. Beautiful Midnight is a record that I feel flows and can be listened to either as a whole or song by song. The Audio of Being for me is not a record I like listening to as a whole. But some of the songs are amazing individually.

Oh yeah absolutely!

Dave was technically good but his sounds were sometimes too "noisy" as opposed to being melodic. Sometimes it made it great, like the Apparitions solo but, in a case like Load Me Up, I always feel silly playing that "wak wak wak wak" lead part when I'm playing by myself. I think Matt's rethinking of it in 2003 was way better and didn't take anything away from the song. It's a shame he went back to the previous version. The Deep Six example though is very true but I always thought that it could have been influenced by the fact that they were playing half a step down and it didn't sound as good as on the record, but that was just a theory :P But there are loads of songs where Dave's lead guitar is perfect for the song. One has to bear in mind that MGB's songs had a different style altogether than what Matt does as a solo artist. I think Matt has become a better guitar player since MGB broke up and you can actually hear his evolution during the years. The lead guitars on Avalanche are very simple and you can see Matt enjoyed trying to play a la Jonny Greenwood. He was definitely building his own style. But hearing the recent demos starting with LOES, it's clear that he became better. But then you watch his play live with Stu, Christian or Jimmy and you can see they are better technically than Matt or even Dave for that matter when it comes to lead. I'm always impressed when I see a guitar player playing as if he's doing nothing, like his guitar is an extension of his body or something. This phrase sounds weird but I think you get it. :P

That's definitely I Miss New Wave. God I'm looking forward to hearing this. From what I understand he's not recording any new material right? Only this EP?
-
Erm... I don't know if I've missed something but the people commenting on Instagram seem to be expecting a re-recording of Beautiful Midnight... Like this: https://www.instagram.com/p/BKUjqpLB1dM/ Where one person says "A new take on Suburbia? This track has a completely different melody?" and another one "Beautiful Midnight changed my life, so to say I am excited for whatever this will become is quite the understatement." that and the fact that Matt said this on Twitter: Got the 17+ remake of Born To Kill in one pass. guys are on fire @mgbmdri I miss new wave is better too. What is he talking about? The 17+ remake of Bort To Kill?

One Of My Favourite (Non Musical) Matt Moment
Outtahere replied to Outtahere's topic in Matthew Good
Ha ha ha yeah that's another great Matt moment. Well, his sense of humour in general is :P -
https://youtu.be/0m-AE-2QUz4?t=1m25s Not only does he step in and apologises to the crowd for the whole thing (which he didn't have to do as he's not the one who caused that but he was being a gentleman nevertheless) but what a burn!! There's been several similar situations in the past and this is just one example but I commend artists who do that. There's a video of Dave Grohl doing that as well. I don't get people who pay for a show and act like that.

Happy birthday Matt. By the way guys, he's giving us a present: http://www.matthewgood.org/news/2016/6/29/unreleased-song-download
