Aside: I asked, and there's nothing on the back of any of the available shirts (eg. list of venues/dates). Bought one anyway, but there was nothing to indicate that any of this stuff was made specifically for the tour.

Yeah, I dunno though. He mentioned twice that he was playing it "in the wrong key though", as if warning the band (who all seemed totally ready to go with it) that they shouldn't jump in, 'cuz it was wrong. Then after he stopped he was joking around about not being able to sing that low. For this kind of thing, we need to see video, 'cuz I could swear that the whole band was "hovering" with picks and sticks, ready to kick into it. Then again, I'm the one who was questioning this morning if it even WAS Suburbia, so maybe I'm totally wrong. Still, I won't be surprised AT ALL, when that song ends up on a setlist within the next couple of shows.

Ok then, sorry for the distraction. I guess I'm just really tired today or something. BTW, I think the "lowlight" of the show was probably Matt's comment about Stevie Nicks getting coke blown up her ass. Everyone around me was laughing right up to that point, and then all of a sudden it went weird. Or was that just my little corner of the audience?

Yeah, but I was the first person to say it was Suburbia, and then noise pollution posted the set list from memory, possibly after having read my post. I'm wondering now if I haven't messed with everyone's collective memory. 'Cuz I'm sorry, the more times I actually listen to Suburbia today, the more convinced I am it was something else last night. NEED RECORDING! ;) (Ok, Curtster, if you say so. Was it possible he played from somewhere in the middle, rather than starting with the first verse, or something?)

Can somebody confirm that it actually was Suburbia that we got the first verse of? As embarrassing as this is now, I just went and actually listened to Suburbia this morning, and I'm shaking my head now thinking that wasn't the song he started playing, at all. Now I'll be damned if I know what the heck that was, but when somebody corrects it, I'll have that forehead smack moment, I'm sure. Either way, it was something much older, like maybe off Loser Anthems. I'm listening to everything I can think of today, and it ain't coming to me. The worst part is, I was singing along with it, and now I can't remember a word of what I was singing. ;) BTW, yes, it was Meat Cove (Matt's story about The Brick). I have a feeling he was completely pulling our legs with that story.

Whoops, double posted somehow... Anyway, I was gonna mention some funny bits. The story about the place around Cape Bretton (some Cove, missed the name) that screwed The Brick out of a bunch of furniture by replacing all their doors with smaller ones so it couldn't be returned. Is that for real? Gotta google it later. Once we get past dissing each other's hockey teams, the world will be a perfect utopia. If the world had only one ruler, he'd get the Nobel peace prize every year. Getting a bunch of vitamin B injections because...something to do with enjoying seeing the guys get poked in the ass. Yeah, it was pretty off-colour for much of the evening, but in a hilarious way. Matt even interjected at one point to ask the audience if it was weird for us with the band being funny in between songs that were supposed to be "all serious". Fun times...

Metal Airplanes. Can't wait to see a setlist too, 'cuz I'm trying to remember what else was different. We got the first verse of Suburbia before Matt declared that he was playing it in the wrong key and stopped, and Odette. Ummmm...damn, I can't even think anymore... Oh, and we also got Load Me Up, and Everything Is Automatic. I know he missed at least one of those last night. Most noteable thing missing tonight (for me) was Black Helicopter. Not complaining though! ;) Oh yeah, and something else that was worth mentioning. Of course, people were yelling out song names all night, and at one point Matt said "we should just do a kid's show". Not skipping a beat, some guy in the audience, in a stroke of brilliance (IMHO) yells out "Baby Beluga!". Now, since everyone around me was cracking up, I missed Matt's comeback. Did anyone catch it?

Well wow! Ok, I didn't keep track of the setlist, but I'm sure somebody did. That was awesome, and I'm sorry for any naysayers out there. Most notable for me tonight was Empty's Theme Park. I didn't realise that the live version was going to be so radically different from the album version, but it totally rocked. Also great was that Matt came out for the encore and did the first two songs of it acoustic. That's the best way to hear Strange Days, IMHO. I guess I was totally wrong. Tonight's list was quite a departure from last night's. That's all for now. I'm too wiped to think. More later...

Well, for what it's worth, Mother Mother was really cool. Much more upbeat than the Sun reviewer lead me to expect. I will say the vocal harmonies throughout were a nice touch, and it really looked like they were having fun up there. They sure played a short set though. I made it out to just shy of half an hour. Now comes the hardest waiting part...

I have a feeling that tonight's show in Vancouver will be almost identical to last night. Apparently CBC was filming then, and will be filming again tonight. It stands to reason that if there are two performances of each song to choose from, the resulting video compiled from both shows will be the best possible combination. Then again, I could be completely out to lunch. I guess we'll see in a few hours. So stoked, no matter what he plays! Cheers! PS. That's probably part of the reason for the idiots yelling last night too. 2 seconds of fame immortalized in a CBC recording somewhere is the best they're ever gonna do.

I love the album, but it feels like there's something missing when I play it on my stereo. The drums and mid-bass just don't have any "oomph", even with a ton of EQing. I thought there was something wrong with my system, so I popped in Avalanche, and listened to the first minute or so of Pledge of Allegiance. Nope, nothing wrong with the stereo. It almost seems like this album was mixed for headphones, 'cuz it sounds great on my Bose cans, but I just can't even listen to it on my system at home, which is a bit of a bummer. Anyone else notice this?
