Another one I almost missed, 'cuz it didn't come up in youtube search: Kingston - Nov 28, 2009 Vancouver National Anthem - PS. Given that the "mystery clip" from one my recent posts (#59, on the last page) has now disappeared, we have another "wall-of-shamer", and the list now looks like: Key City Theatre - Cranbrook, British Columbia - Nov 11 Encana Events Centre - Dawson Creek, British Columbia - Nov 13 Red Deer Memorial Centre - Red Deer, Alberta - Nov 16 Capitol Centre - North Bay, Ontario - Nov 26 Charles W. Stockey Centre - Parry Sound, Ontario - Nov 27

New stuff up tonight: Kingston - Nov 28, 2009 Us Remains Impossible - Last Parade - London - Nov 25, 2009 Born Losers - Load Me Up -
-
New "thing" on youtube: Empty's Theme Park - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZrXjfR49iA I dunno where it's from (guessing Parry Sound, but it could just as easily be North Bay), and I dunno if there's supposed to be video with it. I'm only getting sound, albeit in excellent quality.

Long after I stopped taping songs off the radio, I still continued to record the Rock Radio Network World Album Premiere shows well into the 90s. I'm sure I've still got the tapes somewhere with some of 'em like: Roger Waters - Amused to Death Peter Gabriel - Us Tragically Hip - Day For Night, and Trouble At the Hen House Too bad they stopped doing that.

Matt weighs in on this and other subjects today: http://www.matthewgood.org/2009/11/a-bizarre-48/ It's a good read, IMHO. -
Almost missed these excellent videos: Winnipeg - Nov 21, 2009 The Boy Who Could Explode - Polka / Banter - Silent Army In The Trees - Speaking of "missing", we have no video at all from the following shows: Key City Theatre - Cranbrook, British Columbia - Nov 11 Encana Events Centre - Dawson Creek, British Columbia - Nov 13 Red Deer Memorial Centre - Red Deer, Alberta - Nov 16 Capitol Centre - North Bay, Ontario - Nov 26 I figure if I make this into a "wall of shame", it might encourage people to make sure they at least try to get some video of upcoming shows. ;)

Disclaimer: I am *NOT* complaining. I'm sure it was a great show, and I wish I could have been there (as with every show) I'm just noticing that at 13 songs, this is the shortest setlist from the tour so far, I think. Was this because of a lot of banter, even more extensions to the songs, or was it just a shorter show? Personally, I'd love to see Matt and co. get even crazier with a "medley" of song snippets in the middle of LMU. I almost get the feeling that before the end of this tour, Matt's actually going to attempt to sing some of Love Will Tear Us Apart. -
But wait, the clip is back, and 90 degrees makes a pretty big difference London - Nov 25, 2009 Born Losers - ...and I think I got it: "Alright, as usual here at centennial hall the rule is no diving off the fuckin' balconies, unless you're of course over the age of 19 and covered in KY."
-
Heh, I did hear people talk like that back when I actually was a DJ in the 80s. The day I quit though, was about a week after I had to buy Technotronic - Pump Up the Jam, 'cuz it was the most requested song at the time. I thought "geez, if I'm gonna have to re-invest my earnings into utter crap that I should never be caught dead owning, and then actually have to play it...I can't do this anymore". Anyway, that's ancient history. My biggest issue now is finding a decent phono pre-amp, because my system right now doesn't have legacy "phono" inputs. I've been using a Korg Kaoss pad through headphones to listen to my vinyl lately, but it kinda sucks.
-
Yeah, 'cuz let me tell you, when I spin up a platter on one of the decks in my rig, and drop the needle, I'm hardly concerned with such highbrow terminology. Now, if Vancouver comes out on 8-track, then we'll have something to talk about!

New ones today: Barrie - Nov 24, 2009 Last Parade - Weapon - London - Nov 25, 2009 Apparitions - Alas, the sideways Born Losers clip from London that was posted last night has been removed by user. ;)

Yes, you seem to be remembering very accurately ;) Thanks! It's a momentous occasion. For those keeping track at home, the London show is over. That means that Matt has now played 17 shows on the tour, and if you include the "Free Toronto Show" on December 13th, he has 17 more to go. Just felt it worth pointing out. BTW, since that playlist from the youtube thread has 70 videos in it as of tonight, and we're only halfway through, I'm wondering just how many videos youtube allows you to put into a playlist. Should I be creating a second one for the 2nd half of the tour or something? -
Holy crap, there's a plethora (or is it a cornucopia) of new videos tonight, including our first from London! Barrie - Nov 24, 2009 Born Losers - Hello Time Bomb - The Boy Who Could Explode - London - Nov 25, 2009 Born Losers - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=podr5JkqSzs Lots of banter before both of the Born Losers clips too.* Definitely a fun listen, even if our first London clip is actually sideways! Ok, and so it's only 4 videos, but 4 can feel like a plethora, if you're drinking. * Need help deciphering the following quote, which may be a highwatermark for MG banter: "Alright, as usual here at centennial hall the rule is no ___ ___ ___ ____ (donkeys??!!) unless you're of course over the age of 19 and covered in KY."

We finally got more than 20-seconds of video from Winnipeg, and it's pretty decent quality too! Winnipeg - Nov 21, 2009 Avalanche - (read the comments too, I suspect that there's much more coming from this user!)

Favourite Matt Good Exclamations During A Song
umdesch4 replied to Devil On Rollerskates's topic in Matthew Good
Huh? I kinda figured this was supposed to be a fun discussion of those trivial non-lyric bits of a song that you really like. Reading something into them would be silly. Anyway, I have to agree with that 4 count at the start of Pledge. Man, that sets up the whole album for me every time! Also, ever notice how if you listen carefully to the start of that track, before the vocals actually start, you can faintly hear the first line "this is a commercial for my army and my navy" buried in the mix? Noticed it the first time I listened to it, but not knowing the song yet, for a few seconds I thought it was some kinda secret message. -
Outta nowhere, we get another clip from Saskatoon... Saskatoon - Nov 19, 2009 Last Parade - The video quality is pretty sweet too, and although the sound quality ain't exactly stellar, you get a pretty good sense of how strong the vocal harmonies were in this performance.
-
Yeah, also no Bjork. I'd have to include something like Homogenic, 'cuz when that came out, I listened to it way too many times for my own mental health. Then again, I dunno if I'd put it above anything others have chosen...which is why I suck at top 10 lists, and won't do one.
-
I find it interesting that (at least as far as I can see) not one person put a single Nine Inch Nails album in any of their top 10 lists. I suck at making lists like this, so I'm not gonna try, but at the very least, Downward Spiral, and possibly Year Zero would be in there. (Whoops, I see 'here is no why' put The Fragile in there...but still...)
-
There we go... Thunder Bay - Nov 22, 2009 A single Explosion / Born Losers - Sound quality is kinda weird on this one, compared to the other ianbtv ones, but still a fun clip for the screwing around the band's doing at the start of it.

Ah, right. Sorry...should have thought of that myself. -
Keep watching ianbtv's profile. He uploaded, then removed "A Single Explosion / Born Losers". Maybe it had some kind of problems he's fixing up for a repost. I'll update here later this evening, if that happens.

As far as I'm aware, there's only 1 recording, from Edmonton (see gursky's post #254 on page 13 of this thread for links). As soon as there's more than one recording, I'd say it'd be worth it to create such a thread, but so far it'd just have one lonely post in there. Maybe it would inspire others to try and get good audio recordings though (or upload ones they're holding onto already, perhaps? ). Just my $0.02... Oh, and good luck with your recordings, foats! Can't wait to hear 'em (if you're planning to share, that is...)! -
I think the sarcasm was lost...
