Hah! Congrats on making me spray coffee...

still going! Thunder Bay - Nov 22, 2009 Empty's Theme Park -

...and wow! ianbtv is on a roll! Thunder Bay - Nov 22, 2009 Vancouver National Anthem - (would it be immature for me to say "W00T!" ?)

Nope. So far by my unscientific tally of setlists in that thread, he's played it 8 (or 9?) times so far out of 15 shows. A couple of those are shows that are under-represented in the list of videos too. I'm expecting Massey Hall to be so well video'ed that we'll get excellent clips from every second of those shows, so I'm just happily accepting everything that comes along until then. ;) (And might I add that youtube's search function totally sucks. If you type in Matt Good, and filter by "today", and sort by "newest", you see 3 of the 4 videos I just linked. Why "Explode" doesn't show up, I have no idea. Hence, if anyone stumbles upon something not already in my playlist after a few hours or so, please speak up!)

Some clips from Thunder Bay (and excellent quality too, watch Matt rock out up close and personal): Thunder Bay - Nov 22, 2009 Great Whales of the Sea - On Nights Like Tonight - The Boy Who Could Explode - Last Parade - (To people in here who are thanking me for keeping y'all updated, it's my pleasure! Clips like these make it all worthwhile... To anyone responsible for uploading any of the videos mentioned in this thread, THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing!)

I think what the OP meant was...there was a fight, which took place outside the venue, during the break between MM and MG's sets, and in the course of that fight, somebody ended up on their back. Nothing to do with the bands themselves...just slightly misleading in the wording.
-
Yup, it's on http://www.x929.ca/ right now... I think it's the 2nd part too. They're playing Last Parade now. Gotta love "It feels like time to -uck or leave". Lamest edit ever!

I love these discussions. I really do. I have a book called "How to Master for Vinyl - A Guide for Studio Engineers". It goes through, at great length, every limitation of vinyl, and how to best get around it, and what horrible things will happen if you don't. It also has a really cool section at the back about how to make a CD sound like vinyl, such that you'll consistently fool anyone in A-B tests. Of course, you have to start with a CD that's been mastered properly, and not a victim of the loudness war. But if you mess with EQing enough (and now there's even software to simulate standing waves at the resonant frequencies of standard tables, like the Technics 1200 ), you can fake people out pretty good. Bottom line, in my opinion as an audio engineer, is that people may like the "sound" of vinyl better, and I personally really do enjoy it too, but there's no way that vinyl has higher FIDELITY than a properly mastered CD. Any time spent mastering for vinyl will prove this. PS. Having said that, my favourite format is SACD, with DVD-A coming a close second. 24/96 RULES!

Pretty close: It's actually great picture and sound quality too...from the first Calgary show. Cheers! PS. See this thread for updates as new videos come in: http://www.nearfantastica.com/bored/index....showtopic=13354 ...or just take a look at this playlist, which is being updated every time I find new ones: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=6C44E92C3871BCD5 PPS. Besides youtube videos, page 13 of this thread has links to a really good boot from the Edmonton show, which has another great rendition of Empty's. I've been listening to that a lot lately. -

Well, I will say that it's a good sign that the level of complaining has died down a whole lot. I just went back and re-read this whole thread, and the first few pages before that stellar-2nd-night-in-Vancouver setlist were pretty nasty. Most of those people are gone from the discussion, I've noticed. Add me to the list of people who, while having at least a couple of "wishlist" items, will go see Matt play whatever, whenever, whereever, and love it. (Oh, and obsessively track EVERY SINGLE UPLOAD from the shows on youtube like religion ;) ) -
More stuff today: Saskatoon - Nov 19, 2009 Blue Skies Over Bad Lands - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdsKT-8WHac Weapon - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEyq3l4d1gc Winnipeg - Nov 21, 2009 Last Parade - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ecwecJ2O-U and (duplicate) These are all pretty short clips, but I guess they constitute proof that Matt was there, and actually played these songs. ;)

We got another couple of videos up this evening from the Saskatoon show: Saskatoon - Nov 19, 2009 The Boy Who Could Explode - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jB8JRoHwahI Silent Army in the Trees - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDx0MZzU2qo

Yeah, I guess whoever he's addressing those comments to, it's not the people commenting in the $100 show thread. I'd probably pay $70 for 70 minutes of "a myriad of different obscure tracks". -
Really? I thought somebody took the tapes and made a 2 CD set out of them, sampling direct from original cassettes, without any lossy compression in between. Then the mp3s that are floating around were made from those digitized recordings. Actually, noting that the 2 CD boot was released in 1997 (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_Teacher ) and back then mp3s were still far from mainstream (eg. Napster was still 2 years away), I'm fairly sure that's the case.
-
Since I'm still a handful of posts away from accessing the lounge (and I ain't spam-posting just to get there), I'd like to know if those are lossless files from the 2-CD compilation. If so, I'll just wait to get 'em from there, otherwise I'm going to start hunting for the actual CDs. (mp3s made from something that was originally on cassette are so evil, they hurt my teeth when I try to listen to 'em)

Because I like when artists get into self-reflexive musings on the nature of their art, I love this bit of Bjork - Alarm Call: I want to go on a mountain-top With a radio and good batteries And play a joyous tune and Free the human race From suffering It doesnt scare me at all I'm no fucking buddhist But this is enlightenment

New clips up this evening for the first Calgary show: Calgary - Nov 15, 2009 Avalanche - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOHAHo_4kPs Last Parade - Hello Time Bomb - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-IUH80bnHY Oh man, that "ceiling cam" on Hello Time Bomb totally cracked me up, but I'm impressed by people's determination in the face of adversity. EDIT: more still coming - Empty's Theme Park - Us Remains Impossible - Also check out that user's profile for a bunch of Mother Mother clips from the same show. And might I add...that video of Empty's Theme Park might now be my favourite video in the playlist so far!

Funny, Matt usually plays 3 songs during the encore, and a whopping FIVE at the second Vancouver show, which I was lucky enough to be at. I'm guessing maybe the main set was a little longer than usual? Blue Skies might have contributed to that...or was there a lot of banter? Still, just looking at that setlist, it seems a little short. I think that's what jrw is getting at... Then again, if you got the breakdown with both Love Will Tear Us Apart AND Walking on the Moon (like in that wonderful Edmonton boot I've been listening to for days), then it's like a whole other song-worth of awesome jamming... Johnny, how did you get 14 plays on Us Remains Impossible?! There's only been 13 shows so far, right? -
Actually, on that Saskatoon video, am I the only one having severe issues getting it to play? Two different machines with two different internet connections this morning, and neither of them seem able to play more than a few seconds of it before it freezes. Weird...

Somebody got us a taste of the Saskatoon show: Saskatoon - Nov 19, 2009 Hello Time Bomb - (actually mis-labeled as Load Me Up, but check out my comment on the video ;) )

I guess it would be awkward, 'cuz he established a policy at the start of this tour of not meeting fans due to health concerns. (Somebody please site a reference, I thought I read it on matthewgood.org, but now I can't find it again) So if he's not intending to meet, it would be kinda weird to wave or something, and then just take off on you. If, on the other hand, he actually did stop to meet you, and word of it got out, imagine how much griping there'd be. In a way, I feel for Matt, 'cuz although I've never met him, I've heard from all over the place that he really enjoys meeting his fans. The decision to skip out on it this tour must have been a tough one. -
Hey, we also just got an new one up from the first Calgary show: Calgary - Nov 15, 2009 On Nights Like Tonight - ...and a reminder, I'm continuing to include all of these in the playlist http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=6C44E92C3871BCD5 which is now up to 44 videos. Cheers!
