Need New Music Recommendations
AnOceanPearl replied to hoogie's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Here are my two favorite songs of 2014: Kandle Osborne, "Not Up to Me" (she is the daughter of Neil Osborne of 54-40 fame) Mounties, "Tokyo Summer" (Mounties is Steve Bays of Hot Hot Heat, Ryan Dahle of Limblifter and Hawksley Workman) -
The piano sounds (and horn sounds... and well... all the sounds) on LoES are incredible. Just hearing some of that natural warble in the notes as they're decaying gives me chills every damn time.

Here you go, Matt. https://www.dropbox.com/s/1yg4pmbkk5av7kb/All%20You%20Sons%20And%20Daughters.mp3?dl=0

Could you be referring to "We Are a Place"? I think that one got replaced with Non Populus because you said something along the lines of "Non Populus wipes the floor with it."

Call of Duty to me is like going to a mid-priced chain restaurant - you know how much it'll cost, you can be relatively sure about what you can expect and once in a while something really stands out, so (and this obviously applies to ALL games) the value is really determined by how much enjoyment you get out of it. For me, yeah, I wish CoD would become more interesting (and apparently Advanced Warfare is, but I haven't played yet), but I've also had a lot of fun with every CoD game so I keep buying them and playing the stories a few times and going through a bit of multiplayer and I feel I get good value out of it. I just finished up Far Cry 4 and had a really good time with it. It's basically Far Cry 3 with mountain climbing and elephant riding, so mostly just more of the same, but pretty enjoyable. I'm currently playing Freedom Planet - a retro styled indie game that is clearly inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog (go right, do it fast, collect crystals, learn how the bosses work and attack them) and it's massively entertaining and has an EXCELLENT soundtrack. It is on sale here: http://www.gog.com/game/freedom_planet Next up will be Alien Isolation, and I should probably play Hatoful Boyfriend at some point too.

New demo up, called "Los Alamos". http://www.matthewgood.org/news/2014/12/6/demo-los-alamos I can hear your heart beat on the other side of town the windows shake and the windbreaks, they rattle around stand in the yard, my hole card flipped up in a cloud Ya I can see your heat beat from the other side of town If you’re coming with me, come with me now no more no less, no faith to test, no asking how across the sea there’s a part of me captured in a cloud now I can hear your heart beat from the other side of town I can hear your heart beat on the other side of town lay in bed and pound my head, try and drown it out used to be a part of me that never thought to doubt now I just feel your heat beat from the other side of town

Solo Acoustic Shows - Calgary/vancouver
AnOceanPearl replied to AnOceanPearl's topic in Matthew Good
I can't remember if he said he was recording in March or touring in March, but he did just post on twitter it'll be produced by himself and Livesey. I do recall him saying he's gonna do four shows in NFLD because they get ignored. -

I am really stoked about the show tomorrow being at the Rio. Super small theatre- 420 seats - I saw Lights play acoustically there a couple years ago-ish and it's a nice intimate little place. -
He used to do bus signings quite frequently, but got sick a lot, so the last couple of tours it's been for VIP only.

I replied to that tweet! Makes me excited for Thursday. -
Adam, I think that would have been the LoES tour you met him - I remember us waiting at the bus for Matt after the Vancouver shows but he wasn't signing anything those nights.

I am pretty sure I was a couple rows behind you at that show. I remember commenting to my wife about spying someone with an Avalanche cassette. My favorite MG encounter was during the Nothing to Hide tour. I got to go see him play in Edmonton and then the next night in Calgary (obviously before I moved to BC). After the Edmonton show I went and got some stuff signed, told him I'd be at the show the next night and asked if he could play Sort of a Protest Song because it's my favorite. He responded that because he had so many songs to choose from it was hard to play everything that everyone wanted but he'd try. The next night, he plays it, and I'm pretty stoked about that. After the show, I get some stuff signed for a friend who couldn't make it and thanked him for playing Protest Song and he said "I remembered you wanted to hear it just before I got on stage so I added it to the setlist." That was pretty fucking cool and I'm pretty sure my avatar picture is the moment when we were having that chat.

You know, Moment could probably work acoustically, and Matt IS playing an acoustic show in Vancouver on the 27th.... *wink wink nudge nudge*

I think tickets for both shows when they went on sale were $30 USD each. Because it's stubhub you're likely left dealing with resellers now. -
November 25 - Calgary - Cowboys November 27 - Vancouver - Rio Theatre Tickets on sale 10am local time on Thursday October 30 here: http://www.stubhub.c...w-good-tickets/ Whom may I be seeing at the Vancouver show?

I've listened to this a few times now and I think it's wonderful. The Explosions in the Sky comparisons are apt (and I know Matt will take that as a huge compliment), but unlike some of EitS longer songs (I'm looking at you "It's Natural to be Afraid"), Storm doesn't drag on or get bogged down - I find it really engaging all the way through.

This isn't the best chord sheet for Arrows, but it helped me with figuring out the bass: http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/m/matthew_good/arrows_of_desire_crd.htm

I was at that show too, and yeah, haven't heard BTK since then.

Blake Manning is back playing drums as well.

I'm skipping this. Do not want to have to transit home from Surrey at 11 :(
