Wintersleep...
mrjones replied to devolution's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
They're playing here on December 1st and 2nd. I'm not sure about the first but they're hitting up the plaza club on the Saturday... I'm definately checking them out again, plus I think tickets are only 15 bucks. Yeah, I think there are like 7 or 8 new tracks floating around. The best of which, I'd say would be: How You Lie Weighty Ghost Tambourine Song I think all them are on Youtube in the form of live performances. -

They're releasing beefed up versions of their two albums to celebrate their new label(actually I think they might be out already)... From what I've heard their first disk is completely remastered and sounds 50x better and it'll actually sound like a full band rather that vocals and acoustic with the band quitely playing in the background, and their second one's got two bonus tracks on it. (I think this includes 'spring' the track you get from rewinding Lipstick.) I don't know how to get ahold of these sexy bitches but the way I see it, only good can come from this. http://www.capitolmusic.ca/news_view.asp?news_id=1349 -
Recording Your Own

I use Sonar http://isohunt.com/torrents/?ihq=cakewalk+sonar+4 It can be free depending on if you have a conscience or not. Personally I love it. Great sound, easy to use, and lots of options and effects. Plus it detects any programs on your computer that are compatible with it. -

Just ordered one of these bad boys: http://www.maplemusic.com/product.asp?dept...50%2D21&lang=EN As far as record stores go, I found that CD Plus, depending on what city the store is located, can be awesome as far as indie music. The Nelson BC store is great (maybe because its the only record store in town). HMV is also really good and it seems like they're actually ordering more obscure music plus there's the option to special order too. But I find ZULU on 4th in Vancouver is the best one of all. Its larger and has more of a selection than 'scratch' plus there's always hot indie chicks there. And you can't go wrong with hot indie chicks. -

Yeah, they had a song called 'Lift Your Skinny Fists..." or something. I remember it was pretty damn good. -
I'd be careful when paraphrasing Mel Gibson these days sugar tits. Sugar tits? I'm flattered. Teehee... Todd Kerns is responsible for every single war in history. Jesus, I guess no one watches the news eh? Taken out of context it makes me sound like some internet pervert hitting on little boys. Fuck. http://www.thesuperficial.com/2006/07/31/m...d_drives_a.html Its in there somewhere. ;)

The Cons will be on Carson tonight. Check it out. -
I'm still kind of working on getting a good cut of She's Got A New Disguise. If I don't finish it this week it won't be for a while because I'll be going on vacation. We'll see. Other than that, last time I checked there are quite a few songs on there, maybe even enough to make an album out of. Who knows.

I kinda like their version of Word Up.

You know, I think this is easily the worst of his new material. I can't get into this song at all. To me it sounds boring, repetitive and the lyrics are some of his worst yet. Damn. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come because I'm not feelin it at all.

Wow that kind of sounds like Gavin Degraw, Goo Goo Dolls, or any other really mainstream radio band. I'm actually, really surprised. I can't even hear anything redeeming about the guitar work. Damn. -
9/10 because from a distance it kind of reminds me of Snake's hair from the Simpsons.

Rise Against And AFI
mrjones replied to a topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I'm a huge fan of Rise Against's new album. Prayer Of The Refugee is an amazing song. Before this I had only heard one or two songs by these guys but since then I picked up a few of their cds. As for AFI, compared to their old stuff, this album sounds like their trying to copy Follout Boy. I don't know what made them take this direction but its not a good one. (But if you manage to forget what they sounded like before, this is a decent album.) -
I'm glad Phil is gone. His voice was probably the most annying of the bunch. As for Zayra, I think they all know she's not what the band's looking for but she's really hot and adds some drama to the show, I think she'll stay for a bit.
