Wintersleep
mrjones replied to Ravenous megin-sane's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Thanks man! Fucking awesome. If I remember right you're a Constantines fan? I know its probably not as rare but I have a few good quality bootlegs along with some covers of Neil and other groups if you're interested. Plus a Jim Guthrie cover of Nightime Anytime which is a pretty interesting take on the song. -
I have heard a few songs by these guys so far they seem like pretty good song writers. I can't remember any of their songs besides "Every Man Has His Molly" which is pretty damn good.

Say hypothetically one were to search google for a concert... oh lets say, something not unlike this one. And, hypothetically speaking of course, what would one put as hypothetical search perameters?... hypothetically. ;) Haha...well, I'd hypothetically say that one would probably hypothetically put in (hypothetically) "wintersleep weighty ghost".... which hypothetically would bring one to a message board, with a hypothetical link to a french website (hypothetical of course), where one could find a concert not unlike this one. In hypothetical 192 kbps. Or one could just request another YouSendIt, unless that's too hypothetically illegal. Well shit, I have been to that french site once before and for the life of me, I couldn't get the damn thing to work. I had no idea it had a good quality live concert on it. But for some reason it still doesn't do anything for me. So if you feel like hooking up a few fans with some more YouSendIts, that would be wicked. -

Wow that is a great quality recording. Thanks man. Where did you find this sweet, sweet bootleg? I have seriously been looking high and low for some decent live stuff. -

No, you could just put in your own email. Just keep the link they give you at the end and post it in the Wintersleep thread or something. Modest Mouse - A Life Of Arctic Sounds -
I went naked bungee jumping back in February in Nanaimo. I suppose that was an accomplishment considering there were about 150 people standing there watching everyone. Plus it was winter. Plus it was bungee jumping... naked.

What Famous Band Do You Hate Most?

Yeah I really hate the current trend of Rap thats so big these days. I have yet to hear a rap song that I don't hate... The only one that even comes close is that song by Everlast. What Its Like I think? Is that even rap? Actually I don't mind some of that late 90's rap metal. 3rd Strike - No Light comes to mind. -

I see you've got some Wintersleep live stuff. I've been trying to find myself a copy of Weighty Ghost for a while now. If you've got a decent version of it or even any good live recordings can you put it in a YouSendIt for me? That would be wicked. So good infact, it would probably throw me into a fit of dry humping that wouldn't wear off for weeks. The Constantines - Little Instrument Haha, I'd be glad to, I spent a couple hours this morning cutting that concert into individual tracks. Just keep the dry humping to yourself please. ;) However, I don't know how YouSendIt works.... I have two versions, the Moncton one's a lot better for sound quality. A YouSendIt is just a matter of zipping the file then uploading it to www.yousendit.com. The shitty thing is that it expires in seven days or after a certain number of downloads and sometimes you have to have the patience of a priest to upload the song. Actually I get the Zone 91.3 from Victoria over here and I try listen to that more often. Its as close to a College radio station as I can find. Its basically hard rock like the Fox but ventures to bands like The Arcade Fire and Metric as well as local indie bands. So its not too bad in my books. -

They've been playing Buckcherry and Danko Jones on the Fox lately and everytime I hear that crap it makes me want to drive my Hydro van off the nearest bridge. I honestly can't stand that shit. -

Have you tried Scratch records downtown? They have an excellent selection of indie music. I'd say if you can't find it there, you won't be able to find it anywhere else in town. I'd also say Zulu records but I don't remember if they carry cd's. -

Well they sound decent but with the Constantines and Wintersleep being my two favourite bands they don't even come close. Who knows though, this type of music is usually the type that grows on you. -
I think it'll still work, I'm not sure whats on the site right now but there'll be at least a few more finished... you just have to give it more time. I'll have a finished version of She's Got A New Disguise up in the next little while.

They have yet another new song up on their site. Looks like this album is going to be heavier than their last one. I can't wait. -

Looks like the upcoming The Mars Volta album has been tentatively titled Amputechture and the band are hoping for a mid-August. -

I always listen to the new Trapt album whenever I go for a jog. Its got a great beat, its heavy and if you can get past the cliche lyrics its actually a pretty good album. It really does a great job of pumping me up.
