yeah i like them. they played my school but i missed it. id like to see them live sometime. -
Now now, i'm not saying it's bad. I'm just saying i'm concerned. And the bootleg is a production from long ago, but not THAT long ago. It was purposely made to be bad and not to be released. They made it, i think, so they could maintain their hold on the Fantastic Four movie rights (as they werent ready to shoot a real life big budget film at the time.) It is so godawfully hilarious. The Invisible Girl's "disappearing" is a matter of panning away from her physical body, and then panning back and *poof* "whered she go?!?" It's brilliantly bad. are you talking about the original movie, shot in 1993?? this movie was alright. not as bad as i expected, but the overall family dynamic of the characters was a little screwed up. also, doom was kind of a pussy. whether that's because of the actor or not, im not sure. the story was definitely lacking though. too much focus on the origin. this movie was certainly no x-men.

i disagree... people are so ready to dismiss the mars volta album as being 'pretentious' or 'wankery'... because it's the easy way out. all this article seems to be complaining about is the fact that the mars volta are not at the drive-in. they aren't what they used to be and the author finds it uncomfortable to listen to as a result. i applaud cedric and omar for their change in direction. at the drive-in were headed towards a certain pop-punk death had they continued on the same course. changes were made and the resulting material was ultimately fresh and vibrant. they distanced themselves from a band that was essentially holding them back from being their true, huge expansive selves. also, cedrics lyrics are different, sure, but they certainly aren't a sign of weakness... his use of both spanish and english works perfectly because the music itself is a melding of the two cultures. even if the lyrics could be simply dismissed as nonsense, regardless of what cedric is actually saying, his delivery is sensational. i'm sorry, but when he croons "and when Miranda sang, everyone turned away, used to the noose they obey..." i was just enamoured. his projection is incredible. that, coupled with the rest of the band's talents, and you get an epic album. not once did i find it monotonous. it doesn't take you anywhere unecessary... the album isn't exactly perfect, but i don't consider it a disapointment either. -

exactly, it drags on and on and on and all the songs sound the same after awhile. i don't hate them, and i don't think they suck, though. and hula, you would have heard people rave about them if you had ever spent time at an apc board. i don't advise it, really. you both might think "comfort" is a better album then. although, it's harder to come by. -

well aside from nirvana being a subpop band, they were hardly part of the scene. although, i suppose you could relate them to mudhoney who were an influence, who are closely tied to pearl jam. EDIT: see this is what happened to space rock in the early 90s anyway, it was overshadowed by grunge. goddamn it. -

well its the same case now with any genre. case in point: both pearl jam and nirvana should not be in the same musical genre. -

it's as silly as any other genre name ever. Not really. oh come on... all genre titles are so vague and dont end up describing anything whatsoever. rock sure sounds like rock doesnt it?
