Devo - "Freedom of Choice" -
the quality of music hasnt changed, but the means of finding music has (like insober said). like i've said 1000000000000001 times before on this board...you can't really compare previous music styles to the current, because the current ones have evolved from the past and therefore have changed. if you continue to compare todays music by the standards of the past, you will constantly come up dissapointed. not only that, but music isn't really something that you can measure with time... sounds didn't suddenly change from 1999-2000.... changes are gradual and have nothing to do with what decade you're in.

man i really wish i lived in england right about now... -
im glad they didn't show much of the fights. the more you actually see of batman, the less believable it is. the only thing that mattered was that you saw batman kicking ass, and heard him punching people. HARD. that's one thing that the previous movies completely left out: the fact that he was brutal in a fight. the inclusion of thomas wayne as a more important figure in this film was well done, as well as jim gordon's more important role in this franchise. within the first 15 minutes, this film blew the previous 4 out of the water.

Smashing Pumpkins To Reunite
borntohula replied to Crusader's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
what would be the point of that??! just go back and listen to siamese dream if you like it so much. to even think that a band can break up for 5 years, go on and do different things and then suddenly reform and be able to write songs that sound anything like they did in the past is crazy talk. -

if they reunite for a tour, that'd be fine. please don't record something though. that would spell disaster. -

doesnt apply to them... they're gonna go on releasing CDs and good CDs as this last one don't say that, you don't know that. they themselves say that they treat every album like it's to be their last. in fact, "a rush of blood to the head" was planned to be the last, but several songs came to them which was the start of 'X&Y', so they kept going. -
Biggest "grown On You" Albums
borntohula replied to heyrabbit's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
yeah, "mer" is a very diverse record, it doesn't have a specific sound, IMO. "judith", "rose" and "thinking of you" are all very different songs in different directions, whereas i think "thirteenth" is a little more focussed, but if you don't like what they focussed on, then it's probably a bit harder to listen to. -

white stripes - "de stijl" <--- im still not entirely loving it. APC - "mer de noms" certainly took awhile. i love it now, but for some reason i couldnt listen to certain songs. -
