  1. During the Matt Good/Limblifter/Auf der Maur tour of 2005?, some asshole was moshing violently and trying to crowd surf during Empty Road I believe it was. Same guy that had earlier bludgeoned the girl in front of me's face with a stray foot ...anyways, Matt stops strumming and he's like "What is this?! A fucking pinhead convention?!" (the guy was heavily mohawked a la Steve-o in SLC Punk) ...."It's a fucking acoustic song man, who fucking crowd surfs during an acoustic song. Get the fuck out of here, you're hurting people." It was the Kool Haus in Toronto, so they had heavy security and he was gone.
  2. I'm about half way through, and it has inspired the same sense of wonder I got from films such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T. and others ... the child actors are fantastic - I can't say agree there's any flat acting going on. Winona Ryder is a little overwrought but I think that's her character. A great little mix of Poltergeist, Close Encounters, Twin Peaks, Stand By Me/Stephen King in general.
  3. Playing Sniper Elite III; definitely some issues with gameplay, but I am enjoying the stealth aspects and all of the gory sniper porn.
  4. I don't know if you're going to be here the evening of the 30th, but Limblifter is playing at the Horseshoe that night. I don't know if you like them, but seeing as Matt has collaborated with Ryan Dahle/toured with him before I thought it worth mentioning. Canada Day is kinda anti-climactic here. There's stuff in pockets, fireworks and the like. There's a family friendly dealie during the day Queen's park ... that's it as far as I know.
  5. It's true. There's at least a few of the "alternative routes" to places that I have probably missed. That means when this game gets a replay (I've replayed the other three recently - they're the gift that keeps on giving), I can try different approaches! I am enjoying that the stealth has been improved, and you can rely on it now. Before, it was an option, sure...but clunky at best. You'd might as well shoot everybody...
  6. So much yes! I think I'm about 60-70% through. It's breathtaking.
  7. There's a petition to have Gord honoured with the Order of Canada https://www.change.org/p/governor-general-david-johnston-let-s-honour-gord-downie-with-the-order-of-canada?recruiter=8900814&utm_source=share_for_starters&utm_medium=copyLink
  8. Looking into this as well... the full lineup hasn't been released, which means there could be even more lovely tunes to come. I agree, price is a bit steep, though it would fill the Riot Fest void this year!
  9. Yeaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh that's definitely a doppelganger alright ... holy. Even a similar choice of sunglasses .... I don't think it's him, but this person looks creepily similar.
  10. Yeah, I know. It's messed up. On that note, when I was at the grocery store yesterday someone noticed and complimented my Chaotic Neutral D&D Dice shirt.
  11. He is also playing at the Queen's Plate ... but you gotta buy tickets to the Queen's Plate, though. I'd bet he's really gonna dig that show, being a horse lover and all!
  12. I gave you an assist and tagged you in same. There's so many people that are so pumped for it, too. I am guessing casual fans that assume it is official stuff.
  13. RIP In honour of Prince, and considering this is an MG message board, here's the CFOX version of "1999" that features MG on verse two. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJ6X3TEQ2Nk
  14. Buying tickets for Limblifter on June 30th in Toronto tomorrow!
  15. I don't totally agree that the mid- 1990's were driven by rock, though. This great period in Canadian rock music seemed to arise in spite of the rise of pop, which was the dominant musical currency of the time. All of these bands became huge alongside the Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, N'Sync and about twenty other iterations of the same thing. I remember a lot of interviews from the mid to late 1990's from people like Matt and others talking about that very phenomenon - that music had become this homogenized, formulaic thing and that they were trying to create real music amidst all of that bluster. I remember when I was in Grade 8 (in 1997), the big music was Usher, Mase, the Spice Girls ...and this new girl by the name of "Britney Spears". I felt like the only kid listening to Bush and Econoline Crush in the earliest days, and then starting in late 1997, the Matthew Good Band, Our Lady Peace, The Tea Party and others. Those bands rapidly became the "uncool" bands, too, as the early 2000's were dominated by pop punk bands like Blink 182, Simple Plan and all that guff. I can remember using Matthew Good music on various projects throughout high school, and everyone else was like "holy shit, what is this?", to which I smiled out of the corner of my mouth and felt like I had a secret that only me and several thousand other devoted fans knew about.
  16. Haha exactly ... what matters is that it works.
  17. UPDATE: After maddening investigations, the anti-skate was loose and kept moving out of position :colbert:
  18. Haha, yeah. History teacher. Trajan rules .... ba dum chh
  19. June 1 - We Were Promised Jetpacks June 10 - Brand New June 17 - City and Colour October 3 -Sigur Rós
  20. Project Almanac was very disjointed as a film, even if it was a very novel concept and had cool parts. I liked it more when they were discovering paradoxes rather than the neatly tied up movie mentioned above. 7/10 Want to see 10 Cloverfield Lane a bunch, but the last film I watches was Spy. I thought it was going to be a generic comedy, and for the first half it was - but after Melissa McCarthy commits to her inner IDGAF it's actually pretty hysterical. Rose Byrne is pretty on point, too. 8.5/10
  21. Haha, you speak an uncomfortable truth
  22. Truth is stranger than fiction - kinda sad buddy is now working at the coffee shop after once being a sound engineer. Very cool interaction!
  23. There's a great documentary on Tesla on Netflix as well ...I think it's called Master of Lightning. Trajan is one of the least "sexy" emperors out there, but got the most done. One of those relatively (for Rome) uncontroversial reformers and builders that did a whole shit ton that people forget about among madmen, swindlers, warlords, and incestuous relationships.
  24. This is a really cool concept! 1 - Matthew Good (shocker!) 2 - Richard Dawkins 3- Charles Darwin 4-Galileo Galilei 5- William Shakespeare 6- Jim Morrison 7-Kurt Vonnegut 8-Thomas Jefferson 9-Nikola Tesla 10- Emperor Trajan 11-Jesus Christ 12- Bill Maher
  25. Cool, thanks very much. I will try that with an older record, good suggestion! It's always been a bit possessed. I've gone through phases where it does something weird and then just stops.... It does have a calibration knob, but adjusting it isn't doing too much right now!
