  1. What are you talking about?
  2. http://web.archive.org/web/20061024085849/http://matthewgood.org/? One of my favourites I have to say!
  3. For the international boundaries I totally agree and have been saying the same thing. I'm a fan of Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds for example. They released the record here in Canada but one of the singles and its video were limited to the UK only, there was a bonus track available in Germany only, etc. Or even your song Darlin' that was only available as a bonus track in the US. Record companies refused to move an inch when illegal downloading started spreading and now it's like they think iTunes solved the whole problem and they can go back to their old habits. They still don't seem to understand the way the Internet works unfortunately. Blocking acccess to music or videos even to someone who never downloads illegally is a little naïve.
  4. Nice one! Thanks for the reply! Had it Coming is definitely one of my favourites now. It's off-putting at first as we're used to more of vocal melody type of singing. But it reminds me of the demo for Shallow's Low, called Homecoming, which you put on M+ and it's a song I love, plus the parallel you've done with the Pixies song makes sense. And it's passed the singing it out loud in the car test so that's always a winner :P It's a shame you haven't done/been able to do another one live off the floor. WLRRR is one of my favourite record of yours along with Lights (which I know was not recorded the same way ;))
  5. Matt if you come here again could you tell me if the counting at the beginning of "We're Long Gone" is because some or all of the song was recorded live? I don't think it's all because you were producing so that would make it quite hard. :P
  6. I was singing Tripoli the other day and when I sung the "I will awake to be a has-been" I realized something about the meaning of this phrase. When the song came out in 2001, I saw being a has-been as a bad thing, as if Matt was actually afraid of being a has-been. But now, knowing how Matt is with fame and the lyrics surrounding that phrase, I think it's actually the opposite. We all know Matt's never been too comfortable with being famous. So when he says "Best to smile, best to squeel for daddy" he's actually saying he's just playing the game, being obedient. "Best to defile, best to stay sleeping, in a while, I will awake to be a has-been", my understanding is that he wants to go to sleep until his popularity phases out. Just like when someone complains about winter for example and would prefer just sleeping until spring comes again. Was this obvious to everyone and I'm just slow? :P
  7. It just dawned on my that it really reminds me more of the first demo of Shallow's Low which was called Homecoming than Coming Out In Purple which was just nonsense. Same type of music and spoken words.
  8. Alright, well this was interesting to say the least. First "We're Long Gone" is great. Reminiscent of a mix between White LIght Rock 'n' Roll Review (minus the stripped off production). "Had It Coming"... well.. I was a little thrown off at first. The music and chorus are great but, indeed, the "verses" are very strange. But it grew. It is a little similar to what he did with Coming Out In Purple (minus the weird sounds and the feeling of improvising the lyrics). I actually enjoy this! Looking forward to hearing the rest. Especially that more heavy song we heard in the recording videos.
  9. I'd say you do! :P
  10. Yeah it is but the beginnings are very similar. But of course the chords and the song itself are different. It's just a fun fact, no ripping off accusations or anything ;-)
  11. When I first heard the demo for Zero Orchestra I thought of this song released in 2008 by Quebec artist Pierre Lapointe: http://youtu.be/kin9lKV6S5A?t=13s
  12. Matt said so on his Facebook page! Where he discusses the mock-up of the new album artwork!
  13. 7-Digital has been around since 2004 and should be trustworthy. It's the only place I've seen it for sale. I've bought two MG songs from 7-Digital already (All Together and Darlin') and have had no problem whatsoever. http://ca.7digital.com/about
  14. I'd say most of the songs I dislike are from Vancouver mainly "Us Remains Impossible" and "The Vancouver National Anthem". Also, to me, a lot of songs off that record are too long like the beginning of Last Parade or the "chorus" of "The Boy Who Could Explode". But I do like the songs themselves. On the flip side, it does contain two of my favourite MG songs ever which are "Volcanoes" and "Empty's Theme Park".
  15. One that I always adore when I'm frustrated is "Cause what doesn't kill us now just makes us better whores". Fits in so many different situations!
  16. The way I figured it out is: Verses : G Bm Chorus: D Em G D Dsus2 Are you able to make those out with the lyrics? I tried them both with an acoustic guitar and on the piano.
  17. Which means?
  18. He actually did, at least twice to my knowledge. One time in a thread around here about an MGB reunion saying that he was certain that Dave and Rich would do it for the money. Another time was on a now defunct official forum on mg.org. What I can remember he wrote, don't quote me on that, was that Rich apparently tried to stir up trouble between him and his now ex-wife back in 2005-2006. I don't have any other details as this forum is now gone and has been for a long time. I hope I'm remembering it right.
  19. Says so on Know Your Meme : http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/first-world-problems :P
  20. Wow! Cheers! I just bought it! Thank you!
  21. Ah seems back online : https://one.ubuntu.com/music-store/release/1338828/matthew-good/lights-of-endangered-species
  22. Definitely While We Were Hunting Rabbits. When I sing it in my car (yes I do that) my throat hurts. It's too high (for me any way)
  23. I found it (and bought it) from Ubuntu One Music Store. All you need is an Ubuntu One account (free). Unfortunately, right now, the Music Store is down but it should be back up and running soon. So I thought I'd spread the word. They have a deal with 7digital which ensures that artists get money from the sales. So that's good!
