Liberals In = Quebec & Alberta Out?
Matt replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
Actually the election could very well come down to British Columbia, which is about as west as you can get. And B.C. has received quite a lot of attention from the last government. -

Paul Martin doing what Canadians want done is not a bad thing, it's better than Stephen Harper doing something that Canadians don't want to see happen. -
Still I wouldn't call it a shutout...
-
I really am not counting it as a shutout because that Russian goal should have counted.

Progress takes time if it's rushed it would be done even worse. And we couldn't just pull our troops out, because we want and need to maintain our foreign relations around the world. Beyond that Harper should not have even supported the war in the first place without and real proof, and he even went on American TV saying we should have. He made an unpopular move, and that's why he changed his position on the matter. -
Well the problem for Alberta is they don't elect enough Albertan Liberal MPs for the Liberals to focus to much attention on Alberta, they need to get a few more seats to get a little more sort have an idea.
-
That's right the Canadian Jr team won the World Jrs again for the second year in a row beating the Russians again!

Is it that Falcon Beach show that played Matthew Barber's music too?

Proportional Representation means that the government would get even less done than it does during a majority government so Alberta would probably get even less help. B.C.ers? Treehuggers? What? Most of us are not Treehuggers. Also it is unlikely B.C. would separate if Alberta did, there doesn't seem to much advocacy for it anymore, even before the Liberals started catering to B.C. a bit more. However, every party tries to cater to groups of voters, so it's not like that's a bad thing. Back to separation, I don't know how everyone else would go, except for Alberta though who seems strongly to want to leave. However, Quebec isn't all that different than Canada if you really look at it either, about half the population is comprised of english speaking Canadians, many of whom have British origins.

The Vancouver Sun is where I've been getting my information from. The Liberals have been up in B.C. in the polls shown in the paper. Also the Liberals get around to fulfilling their promises when they have the money too. Also the Conservatives have Germant Grewal who secretly taped some conversations, he then sent in an obviously edited form, plus he had people carry them through the airport for him too which is also not a good idea. The Conservatives also supported the war in Iraq and had they been in power they could not have just withdrawn the troops just like that because of how foreign relations work, it would seriously damage them if we did do that. -
Female Vocals
Matt replied to WalrusMeat's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I've got nothing against female vocalists, my favourite ones are Holly McNarland, Natasha Thirsk (Catlow), and Megan Bradfield (she did some lead vocals on the second Salteens album). -
Travis Barker

That sounds about right... -

Doesn't he have some band with Tim Armstrong or something? -
The Arcade Fire
Matt replied to Hyphnip's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I really don't get all the hype about this band... they're okay and all, but I would never buy their album or listen to their songs really either. And I agree that the Broken Social Scene is probably way better than The Arcade Fire too. -

Actually, the Liberals are up in the polls in B.C. compared to the previous election and the Conservatives are in third, so it's not all the West that has it "so bad". Beyond that the Liberals have developed our economy a lot better which helps people be more self-reliant. However, the NDP forced the Liberals to cut out tax credits to small businesses when the NDP forced the Liberals to cut out all the tax cuts for business, most of which were not going to big business but actually small businesses. The Conservatives will do what they want not what Canadians want, that's why their views are not very popular. -
http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/americandreamz/ So this is a new movie by the director of American Pie, About A Boy, and In Good Company, and I think it looks like a pretty funny movie. I have a feeling they'll be spoofing George Bush, Simon Cowell and all the other idols like crazy in this one though.
-
It was an alright movie, I think it's biggest problem was the length, Peter Jackson could have cut it down for length quite a bit I think and it would have been a lot better. But I never like LoTR so this is still way better of a movie than LoTR for me.

Yes, a scandal was done under a different Liberal administration, but even with that, the Liberals have still done a lot of good for Canada. -

What's the top cabinet position Harper has had? Or did you make a mistake and wrote the names in the wrong place? -
Yes, it definitely would.
-
The Liberal Party form also says you cannot be a member of another party either.

For the most part, a lot of the audience at the rally was volunteers on various campaigns for the various Liberal candidates at the rally. Also, the Liberals are still the best option for many Canadians. -

I never heard of a Canadian one, but Mark Burnett has been considering filming one in B.C., but he hasn't done it yet.
