  1. Nah, I just like disputing things.
  2. toolbox, a missile defense is NOT necessarily moral, if for example it brings on the potential of distruction in a different and potentially more severe way. In that case, it is immoral on account of it being a stimulus for certain nations to create newer and more effective ways of killing each other. One has to think if long-term consquences regardless of which nation will present these consquences. But again, the system is already technically obsolete before its actual completion.
  3. Of course the government doesn't pay for it, the question is whether or not it should.
  4. You have to take into account costs though. Many people simply can't afford insurance or medical treatments when they need it. That's wherein lies the advantage of government having more of a hand in medicine.
  5. My belief that it won't work doesn't come from the technology's unimpressive test results. I realize that the system will probably reach a state of greater functionality that it currently sees. But given how it's supposed to work and its projected capabilities, it wouldn't be able to defend against the latest in ICBM technology. Also a question of triggering another arms race probably fits more under moral questions than practical. If an arms race is triggered, then it is virtually guaranteed to become too outdated for any kind of use after a brief period. Take for example the Cold War, the Western powers were ahead of the USSR in jet technology at the end of World War 2, but by the early 50's the Soviets had taken the lead with the MiG-15 fighter. Less than 15 years later, this fighter was already completely obsolete in almost every way. In less than 15 years, that plane had gone from one of the most advanced production fighters in sky to outdated and ineffective. I think this defense system will follow the same pattern.
  6. I heard somewhere that weightlifting is like masturbation for the sexually under-capable.
  7. Then comes into play that it's outdated before completion, there would be little or not use for it anyways, it's using money that could be better spent elsewhere, it seems to be fueling another arms race, and so forth.
  8. To say the movie is good because it doesn't follow the conventions of having a story or a plot is like saying a new model of car is great because it has no engine. Sure it's different from what everyone else is doing, but certainly not better or even good. I guess my dislike stems from not only the fact that I didn't find it either funny or entertaining, but also that it really disappointed me as everyone assured me it would be the funniest film I'd ever see. Obviously it wasn't.
  9. Yeah, emotive was very disappointing.
  10. at least they arnt parading around as a Duran Duran cover band. Duran Duran wasnt good in the 80's, and its not good now. ...maybe, but then again FF is more like an imitation of Kraftwerk, which incidentally, sucked even worse than Duran Duran. i guess you have never heard any Kraftwerk albums then. because i see no similarity. No, I've heard Kraftwerk, it sounds like Nintendo GameBoy music. I was referring to image more than anything else though.
  11. You know he's probably reading your mail and wearing your bathrobes...
  12. If including rentals, around 8/month.
  13. Hmm, given that description, I'm gonna guess you're either a coal miner or a hermit.
  14. Plus he was an eccentric weirdo.
  15. That's almost creepy.
  16. Real good actually, much better than Seriously Serious.
  17. Hmm... Alabama Motel Room
  18. It's bound to happen sooner or later.
  19. I've never been a fan of his either, but he's been in a few good movies.
  20. Some obscure foreign word maybe...
  21. It's at the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Oregon, I've seen it.
  22. Few things are more annoying than people quoting comedies.
  23. Empty Road (acoustic) is just taken from a video of Matt recording the song in the studio. I'm pretty sure it was called Empty Road at that point.
