What Videogame(s) Are You Playing Right Now?
johnny replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Tech Section: A Hard Drive at Risk
/\ Likewise - made it to level 55, lappy crashed, made it over halfway there again, crashed again, and now I think I`m in the mid-thirties. Haven`t played in a while though. -
When The Levee Breaks - Led Zeppelin Nice one on The Smiths, by the way.

Seeing wind turbines turbining away at me on my way to work on a sunny morning. Yes, I did have a good day today, so shove it. ;)

Nice idea! I'm mostly watching for the banter between songs, I'll wait to hear the new stuff live first.

Official Tour Setlist/review Thread 2009/2010
johnny replied to here is no why's topic in Matthew Good
Ok, that's frickin' sweet. But now I want to stop reading this thread, I've still got a bit over 3 weeks until I see him and I don't want to know how the show is going to go before I get there myself. Dammit. -
Gulf War syndrome? That's a new one to me. The mercury I could care less about - I'll just hold off on the tuna helper for a week or so.

So... no setlist from last night? It's a travesty I say, a travesty! Seriously though, was anyone there last night? -
What Videogame(s) Are You Playing Right Now?
johnny replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Tech Section: A Hard Drive at Risk
I'd love to get MW2, but I'm going to be waiting until I get my wired, paid-for connection back. I'm not even sure how well my machine will run it, but damn I want to play it. Until then I'm settling for some old-school Battlefield 1942. -
My money's on a Concert on Demand recording, that would be pretty sweet to have around. Were they at both shows?

When I was going through that thread my impression was "Tour's great! Just wish this had been added..." and repeat that every couple of posts. After enough repetition, the original sentiment can get lost rather easily. Couple that with some other emails and harassment that Matt probably gets on an increased basis now that he's on tour, and you get a guy who needs to vent. It's understandable, to me at least. Besides, look at the latest setlist: I don't know about you guys, but that's making me pretty happy right there ;)

That setlist just made my morning. I just hope he still has some stories left in him when he he gets out here. Meat Cove by chance? They're the butt end of a lot of jokes out here, but in this case you're going to need to be more specific. There's a lot of Coves on the Island. -

A meager three times, October 2004 in Antigonish, N.S., October 2007 at what was the Marquee Club and in May 2008 at the Cunard Center, both in Halifax. Don't remember much from the 2004 show which kinda pisses me off, went on a whim with a guy who just so happened to have an extra ticket. Still have the MG shirt from the show though, the one that's similar to the old RCAF logo. Still fits too, plan on wearing it to the next Halifax show. I just wish there was a better venue than the Cunard Center, the sound really isn't the greatest. Now, solo acoustic at the Rebecca Cohn... *drool*

/\ Yep. I'm not complaining that I get to see my favourite artist play so close to my new home, I'm just happy to see him live again. And as mentioned before by oneeighty, I'm preeetty jealous of the folks who have been around for a while and have seen Tripoli, Near Fantastica, Girl in the War and all the other gems from years ago. So I'll continue to go to Matt's shows and hope to hear some of my personal faves, but revel in the fact that I'm hearing new material as well for the first time. And I'll enjoy every minute of it, including telling those frat-boy Rico lovers* to shove it, ***holes that they are. *Disclaimer: I'm not hating on the Rico lovers here, just the 2 frat boys behind me at the last show in Halifax. -
Black rum, rinse and swallow 12 times daily. Works like a charm. But in all seriousness, I've heard a figure that something like 200-300 people might die in this wave (anyone else hear that? I know this looks bad without having a source but I can't remember where it came from). Put that up against other figures for the same time period (a la the graphydoodle) and it's rather insignificant. In no way am I trying to trivialize 300 deaths, but I don't think it warrants the frenzy that it going on right now. I'm fully content in waiting for my vaccine for a long while yet, I'm in no rush. Mostly the only reason I am going to get it is for the sake of my grandmother who I'm living with until Christmas.

Them Crooked Vultures
johnny replied to Audio of Being's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
B-A-N-A-N-A-S! Yeah, thought I posted it here but I guess it was on another thread here. Stream of the album for the next week or so - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQ6arQ-qK34...CC1368DF9BDE312 Never seen it done on Youtube before, but it's good quality. ;) -
After this long I'm rather skeptical. I have a gut feeling that it's not going to live up to anyone's expectations, and why even bother with a sequel? It was and still is fine on its own, there's no need to mess with a good thing. But then there's money to factor in to the equation... At least they've got the originals coming back, any word on if Willem Dafoe makes an appearance? That would give me a little more hope.
-
@alex - Really? I was planning on going to see that later this week or next.

Sticking with the MG/MGB theme, just because it's so damn hard to begin with... MGB: Man of Action/Running for Home I was going to listen to RFH and SOAPS to determine it, but when the 'After this there's just the circus" comes in, it sealed it. MG: Champions of Nothing/True Love Will Find You In The End. I like all the choices, but when these two are paired together with the rest of the album in between, I can't think of a better pairing. It's really a journey to listen to all of that and they just work. My 2 cents. Also, is Hopeless included in Ex-Pats or is it just Ex-Pats alone? Not that it matters for me now... Edit: fail on the copy of half the songs...
