  1. Tripoli Look Happy, It's the End of the World Failing the Rorschach Test Born Losers The War is Over I Am Not Safer Than a Bank Big City Life My Out of Style is Coming Back Comfortable Criminals
  2. Better than the Travelling Wilburys? Blasphemy!
  3. Out here in the boonies we don't have that.
  4. What is this "Ongoing History" you speak of?
  5. I really enjoyed it. I think even if you dislike the movie (and I could see why), I would think you enjoy the first scene. Amazing amount of tension. And the villian is portrayed very well!
  6. I thought it was a very good movie. I think that the timeline/alternate time thing was the only way they could reboot it. If they did it with no explanation (ie. Batman, etc) it would have been a disservice to the originals. This way, they are telling a different story. And yeah, it was a little more like Star Wars. But it also was the introduction to the new series (hopefully). They will have time to mature and hopefully become more intellectual as the series progresses.
  7. Pearl Harbor. Trailer: Woo! War movie! Cuba Gooding Jr! Movie: Awww, what the..?
  8. I think you may have the wrong thread!
  9. Now now, no need for the Foo Fighters hate. They make some good music. I don't like all of their stuff, but much of it is good rock. I love The Hell Song off of In Your Honor.
  10. I really like that Chart Attack interview. Very cool, thank you for posting it.
  11. Mmm...Prime Time Deliverance.
  12. Bah! Before it was the pop age, and the rap age, and the disco age, and the punk age, etc. Rock is a constant. It has ups and downs, but I think there are some great rock bands out there.
  13. It seems like I should give the new Muse a listen. I was a bit hesitant after hearing some mixed reviews.
  14. This is easy: Korben Dallas - Fifth Element Although Indiana Jones is pretty awesome too...
  15. I wish more artists put effort into approriate opening and closing songs. Openers need to get you pumped up, and closers need to pull at your emotions and preferably have an epic climax/sound! I would honestly change my vote for the opener to Pledge of Allegiance if the album version was as awesome as the live band version. Not to say the original isn't great, it is. But in a more laid-back way. The live version definitely is a better "pump you up" type of song.
  16. I'll be honest and say I've never enjoyed this album as much as his others. However, I may not have given it a fair chance. Beyond Alert Status Red, none of the other songs are really on my playlists. But this thread has convinced me to give it another shot. I'll put in my car and listen to it for a few days.
  17. Clearly the album version is superior. But is the radio version still catchy? Yes. And to a first-time listener, or a casual fan, I think it may be enough to get them interested. I do think he should release Fought to Fight It as the second single. It would help to draw in more casual fans, since I think it's the closest to his MGB work. EDIT - And then VNA as the third single. Cut it a bit...but keep it at 5 min at least. Don't be afraid of a long song! Look at Sultans of Swing!
  18. I'm really also falling in love with the last part of The Boy Who Could Explode. When the song breaks down, after the second verse...it's magical! Look at me, acting like a little girl, haha. But from that point on, it's fantastic. Not that the first half isn't great!
  19. I think if you're looking for those "wow" vocals on this album, then Great Whales of the Sea satisfies it. I agree that having a moment like that on Empty's would be great. But that's one reason why I love Great Whales so much. The last half of that song is incredible.
  20. Unbelievably tough. I will also have to split up between MGB and solo. MGB: Giant Change of Season Solo: Champions of Nothing Empty's Theme Park
  21. I agree mostly, except I don't enjoy On Nights Like Tonight as much. It doesn't have as much "punch" as the others. I really, really like Volcanoes from about 1:58 onward. But I don't like the beginning or the encore to it. I agree the most on Empty's Theme Park. Easily the best on the album!
  22. You know, you could just say that's a private board/forum for regulars, and by post count/invitation only.
  23. So everyone here is always talking about the lounge... what is the lounge, exactly?
  24. I think he's said (as I think the lyrics make obvious) that it's more about the glorification of the military. How as kids we play with guns, dress up as soldiers for Halloween. Then when you get to a real war, it's not quite the same thing.
  25. I get the feeling it's about a person who wants to fight to break out of the "system" (whatever that is), but is fighting the urge. So they are fighting the urge to fight out of it. That's the impression I get from the verses.
