  1. Us Remains Impossible is growing on me. I think just the opening bit is a bit lacking. Better than I can do, for sure. But the song just gets better as it goes.
  2. I personally love this one (acoustic, in Vernon)
  3. No one ever lost money underestimating the intelligence of the average person. ;)
  4. ETP is for sure one of his best songs. The flow and feeling of it are amazing.
  5. Haha, that would be interesting. And many people would hear it and go "I looove Vancouver!", kind of like how so many politicians in the United States use Born in the USA, even though it's a protest song.
  6. Yeah you could just cut out the initial bass and guitar and go right into the hard stuff. I think (similar with Silent Army) that you have to cut the initial soft singing to make it an effective radio single.
  7. Yeah I do enjoy the last half of the song. For some reason I just can't get into the beginning. I think it's the guitar.
  8. After reading a few other threads, it seems that some people think VNA would be a great single, but is just a bit too long. So I thought, if Weapon can be cut by more than a minute and become a successful single, can VNA as well? Here's what I came up with: (4:49 in length) Obviously some has been cut. I think though, that the main spirit of the song remains intact. Obviously (as others here have said) the purpose of a radio edit is to draw people to the album, it's not really for us. I think this would be a great single. It has a great guitar riff, and a very epic feel to it. I hope you like!
  9. I think the first three and the last four songs really carry the album. The middle three are the weakest (just in my opinion!) Yeah, the drums may be a little generic, and yeah, he layered his voice more than in the past, perhaps. But overall it's an incredibly solid album.
  10. Which song are you talking about?
  11. I think the label wants it to be played on your standard rock stations. And most of them play 3-4 minute songs (on average). And he does need to sell albums, so he does need airtime. But I think a song like TVNA could be played without too much trouble. Even if they shaved off 30 seconds or so, it's around 6 minutes. That's long for radio, but not ridiculous. Now...Empty's Theme Park is a whole separate story. I don't think you could salvage that one for radio. Nor would I want to! It's wonderful as it is.
  12. Well from the sounds of it the next singles are The Vancouver National Anthem, Us Remains Impossible, and Great Whales of the Sea. Quite the collection! I would enjoy TVNA as a single. I shudder to think how it would be cut down though. Why can't they just play 7 minute awesome songs? They used to! In any case, I am happy with whatever he does. Any exposure is good, as all of the above are solid songs (Thought I think URI is the weakest on the album, but that's just my opinion).
  13. So since the CD wrapping included the sticker that says "Includes LAST PARADE and US REMAINS IMPOSSIBLE", does that mean URI is the next single? I always figured it would be Silent Army or Fought to Fight It.
  14. I would enjoy Fated very much, if it were released from a live show.
  15. If he's sticking with a rock song, I'd rather hear Everything is Automatic than Load Me Up/Hello Time Bomb. Not that he would check here and listen to me though!
  16. I also think that Fought to Fight It will be the next single.
  17. I would hope he plays Near Fantastica.
  18. What song is better live? Two come to my mind: - Fated (acoustic) - Pledge of Allegiance (band). Just so much emotion in both when done live, epsecially the latter.
  19. Clearly the answer is Change of Season. Ok. Now the battle of my two favourite songs: Fated (seems to be coming up a lot) vs. Near Fantastica
  20. Noise pollution: I agree about Double Life. It's my favourite guitar work for any MGB/MG song. Something about it makes it so catchy. I can hum it all day once I hear it.
  21. Empty's Theme Park. How about a fun one. Songs that end with awesome guitar solos: Double Life vs Carmelina
  22. Flashdance II! Ok, how about two really sad, depressing songs (that are two of my top 5): Running For Home vs Fated
  23. You two basically have what I have it narrowed down to, plus or minus a few. And while I have nothing against songs like Everything is Automatic or Rico, I definitely wouldn't want someone to fall in love with those and never know the awesomeness of Near Fantastica or Change of Season! I think I'll burn a mix CD or two, following these suggestions. And I never noticed the similarity of 23 and Everything is Automatic until you mentioned it and I went and checked the CD. Very interesting. And yes, very different after the intro, haha. Anyway, thank you very much! I lurked here for a long time, but I'm glad I signed up!
  24. I love Born To Kill! Going All The Way How about some stranger ones (but excellent): Flight Recorder From Viking 7 vs Life Beyond the Minimum Safe Distance
  25. Catastrophe Battle of the good music video songs: Weapon vs Alert Status Red
