i think 75% of S&M is shit. Some of its good, and some of its REALLY good, but a lot of it i find there is TOO much orchestration and it and it drowns out the band.

i'd have to go with the death of Cliff Burton. As much as i like Jason, i always wonder what direction the band would have took had he not died. He was a pure metal mf'er and took no B.S. and i doubt Metallica would have went the load/re-load route if he was there. (even though i like those albums). He seemed to have clout in the band, whereas Jason had none and Kirk seems too laid-back to give a crap.

yes Matt reads a lot of news. I would assume that a semi-successful musician would have a lot of time on his/her hands when they are not in the studio and/or on tour. But the guy is married so i'm sure he has a life.

Join the club. I think its a great CD. i think its ok, it has a few good songs. I love St. Anger the song, and i also like Frantic and Sweet Amber. The rest of the album just doesn't do it for me. it will be interesting to see where they go with the next album with Rob on-board. I hope they mix it up again we can actually hear Kirk.

U2 is by far the best right now. They are still in their prime right now and going strong. I saw them in Montreal on their last tour and it was incredible. RHCP is a very cool band but not quite U2. Metallica's last album sucked and their prime ran out over 10 years ago. Matt Good isn't really a band but he's up there. The Beastie Boys aren't a classic rock band, more rap/punk/rock, but at least they can all play their own instruments (guitars and drums etc.) so they're on my list, plus their last album was pretty good.

Strange Days

its a tie for me between Fearless, Vermillion, and She's got a New Disguise. But really, i love the whole album, its by far my fav MG album. Its very likely my favorite studio album of all-time.

i watched "My Life" again a few days ago and it made me cry at the end again. Geez that one's a heart-tugger.

Apparitions Strange Days i'm kinda upset, none of these songs are in my top 15 fav MG songs of all-time. Probably not even close. So i could care who wins now.

I know Rice is going to be in Bush's inner circle somewhere, but Secretary of State is not the right place. She is supposed to be the US's most senior diplomat?? Most people in the world despise her, as she's just another Bush lackey. They can't trust her. She has no credibily on the international stage like Powell did. The only thing Rice has going for her as a diplomat is that she is a woman. And former Sec. of State Madeline Albright (sp?) said that being a woman gave her a big advantage in world diplomacy. I can see why, because other male world leaders are would be more trusting and less suspiscious of a woman than a man.

thats true. His wife was dead-set against Powell running for President. But i think the reason Powell got out was that the rest of the admin shit on most of his ideas. I also heard Powell was upset at the way they used him in front of the UN to garner support. Some guy who has worked in the White House the last 4 presidencies said on CNN that the fighting between Powell and the rest of the Bush inner-circle was the worst he's ever seen. and all i got to say about Condi Rice is....

no suprise he quit. They said Powell was upset at the way the admin used him to convince the UN about Iraq and WMD's. And i'm sure he doesn't like the hard right-wingers in the admin shitting on all his ideas because they don't involve bullets and bombs. Colin Powell, "the reluctant warrior" they call him, was by far the greatest thing going in the Bush admin. maybe the only good thing going. Not they just lost the only rational, likeable, and respected guy they had. what a farse. I say if Colin Powell is disgusted by you, there must be something very wrong.
